Chapter 1380: Chapter 1354: The Boy Singing on the Overpass
"Sorry honey, I wasn’t thoughtful enough," Ye Chen said, scratching his head.
He just thought it must have been tiring for Su Wanyi to walk such a long way and wanted to give her a massage but hadn’t considered that they were still at the company entrance.
It would be rather inappropriate if the employees saw them; it didn’t matter to Ye Chen, but Su Wanyi was the CEO of the company. How could she face the employees in the future?
"Alright husband, I’m fine, let’s go," Su Wanyi said to Ye Chen with a smile.
Hearing the woman beside him say this, Ye Chen started the car and left the company.
"Honey, where should we go for dinner?" Ye Chen asked.
"Anywhere is fine, I don’t particularly want to go anywhere," Su Wanyi said.
"Alright, how about we go to that fish restaurant again?" Ye Chen suggested.
"Okay, but we can also check out other places for grilled fish," Su Wanyi replied.
Ye Chen used Dianping to search for the closest grilled fish restaurant.
Following the navigation, he drove in that direction.
"Where are we going tonight, husband?" Su Wanyi asked.
"You’ll find out tonight. Let’s fill our stomachs first," Ye Chen joked.
Su Wanyi felt Ye Chen’s comment was boring, so she didn’t speak any further.
Ye Chen drove forward while the navigation indicated they had reached the destination; however, they were surrounded by malls with no sign of a grilled fish restaurant.
It seemed the grilled fish restaurant must be inside the mall.
Ye Chen parked the car, planning to take the elevator, but frustratingly discovered that the grilled fish restaurant was in the mall across the street.
Helplessly, the two of them had to cross the sky bridge to get there.
On the bridge, there were stalls selling various trinkets, which was nothing out of the ordinary.
The only thing that caught Ye Chen’s eye was a boy singing at the edge of the bridge, with a piece of paper in front of him that read "Hope kind-hearted people can help me, my girlfriend urgently needs surgery."
Ye Chen glanced without speaking and continued walking with Su Wanyi.
Su Wanyi paid no attention to the boy; there were a lot of beggars on the street, each with different gimmicks.
The two of them took the elevator straight to the top floor where the grilled fish restaurant was right in front of them.
"Sir, Miss, please come in," the waitress said, smiling as she looked at the approaching couple.
Ye Chen and Su Wanyi were led by the waitress to an empty seat. It wasn’t the weekend, so there weren’t many diners, and there were plenty of empty seats inside.
"Is this the first time you’re trying our grilled fish?" the waitress asked, smiling.
"No, we’ve had it before," Ye Chen shook his head.
He knew if it were their first time, the waitress would introduce their signature fish flavors, so this step could be skipped.
"Oh, okay then, I won’t introduce our dishes. You probably know that our green pepper flavor is the signature," the waitress said with a smile.
"Yeah, we’ve tried it before and liked it, that’s why we wanted more," Su Wanyi responded.
"Actually, you might want to try some of our other flavors; they’re quite good," the waitress suggested.
"Alright, I’ll have one green pepper flavor and one chopped pepper flavor, with a vegetable platter, wide noodles, and soaked pancakes," Ye Chen said.
This time, Ye Chen learned from past mistakes, so he ordered an extra portion, fearing that Wanyi, being a big eater, would make him end up only having soup.
"Sir, are you sure about ordering two fish? I think one fish is enough for two people," the waitress asked in disbelief.
It’s noteworthy that this waitress was very considerate. If it were someone else, they wouldn’t care how many fish you order; the more, the better.
"Yes, I am sure. Just follow my order," Ye Chen replied with a smile.
Since the customer insisted, the waitress couldn’t say much more.
"Alright, please wait a moment," the waitress said, turning to leave.
After the waitress left, Su Wanyi looked at Ye Chen and said, "Honey, you ordered so much, the two of us can’t possibly finish it. It’ll be wasted again."
"Oh please! Last time, we ordered one fish and I didn’t even see any fish meat, just eating veggies and bread," Ye Chen retorted, rolling his eyes.
Hearing Ye Chen’s words, she blushed as if she had remembered something. She recalled last time, despite saying she couldn’t eat much, she ate all the fish, leaving Ye Chen hungry.
Thinking about this, Su Wanyi felt embarrassed to suggest ordering only one fish.
Soon, the waitress brought two fish dishes.
"Sir, Miss, here are your green pepper and chopped pepper fish, along with the vegetable platter, wide noodles, and soaked pancakes. Your dishes are ready, please enjoy," said the two servers.
Su Wanyi initially didn’t feel hungry, but upon smelling the fish, her appetite opened up.
"Honey, this chopped pepper fish is so delicious," Su Wanyi said while eating.
Her face was full of happiness; sometimes, eating delicious food can bring joy and happiness.
Once again, Su Wanyi nearly finished a whole fish.
Ye Chen indeed made a wise decision; if he hadn’t ordered an additional fish, he would only have ended up with fish broth again.
After eating, the two of them didn’t even want to move, mainly because they ate too much this time.
Ye Chen and Su Wanyi were unexpectedly able to handle two fish.
"Honey, I feel so full I can hardly move," Su Wanyi pouted.
"Me too, but it wouldn’t be right to keep sitting here. Look at all the people waiting outside," Ye Chen pointed outside the window.
Upon hearing this, Su Wanyi quickly stood up, saying to Ye Chen, "Honey, let’s go quickly."
Ye Chen and Su Wanyi settled the bill and left the grilled fish restaurant.
The waitress watched the couple leave, cleaning up the table with a surprised expression.
She never expected that two slender individuals would finish two fish, which was truly unbelievable.
No wonder the guy insisted on ordering two fishes; they really could eat.
Ye Chen and Su Wanyi, unaware of the waitress’s impression, were now focused on digesting the food as they had eaten too much.
"Honey, I want to see what those stalls are selling," Su Wanyi pointed at the stalls ahead.
"Alright, go ahead," Ye Chen nodded.
He didn’t follow Su Wanyi but instead went over to the singing boy.
Listening to the beautiful song the boy was singing, Ye Chen was captivated.
