Chapter 3: Fred the skeleton!

The revelation of her words made Ryven gulp.

"W-what now...?"

He stood there stupefied. Subconsciously he reached up to his neck where the blade had almost struck him.

And... Did I almost die just now...?

He tried to calm himself, the memory of that near-death experience left his body filled with adrenaline.

The more he thinks about it, the more he couldn’t understand, whether he was lucky or unlucky.

Encountering something related to evil gods while being only level one was simply absurd.

After organizing his thoughts, he immediately put some distance from the two of them.

If I get caught in their fight, I’ll surely be in trouble.

Ryven thought, becoming even more cautious of his surroundings.

Meanwhile, Samminah gracefully deflected the black guardian’s attacks, by using smaller moonlight blades.

Samminah only manifested small ones to conserve Mana as much as possible.

As the fight went on, Ryven couldn’t help but notice that the Black Guardian’s speed was no joke.

He could clearly see that it was keeping up with Samminah.

After evading a few times, she finally saw an opening and immediately conjured a large moonlight blade, aiming to sever half its body.

Unexpectedly, the moonlight blade failed to cut it in half, leaving only a deep wound across its torso.

Noticing it wasn’t dead yet, she snorted coldly, clearly irritated, immediately she conjured two moonlight blades that attacked from two directions.

The Black Guardian, was caught off guard.

Swoosh!

The abomination was helplessly cut in two by her moonlight blades.

[??? Had slain a Second-Stage Black Guardian!]

[Congratulations!] freewebnøvel.com

[Host obtained an Iron Ticket!]

[Note: Chances of Iron Ticket drop is one in a thousand. The stronger the enemy, the higher the chance of getting a ticket with high rarity.]

[Would you like to transfer the experience points to ??? Or take it all to yourself?]

As the system notifications appeared, Ryven felt a surge of excitement. He hadn’t expected to obtain another ticket so easily, let alone one of the second-lowest rarity instead of the lowest which is bronze ticket.

But he first focused at the experience points.

Without hesitation, he transferred all the experience points to Samminah.

[+60 Experience Points]

[??? Level increased +2]

[Summoned Name: ???] [Level: 4]

[EXP: 0/60] [Tier: Divine] [Stats]

Ryven’s lip curled up in satisfaction.

"Where should I allocate the points you gained?"

"Put it all in Mana," She replied bluntly. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Without hesitation, Ryven quickly put it on Mana.

[??? Mana increased +4]

Samminah then began observing the cave, searching for clues about the inheritance and which evil god or goddess it belonged to.

To her disappointment, she only saw some new strange symbols carved into the walls.

One depicted a village struggling to survive while surrounded by abominations.

Into the next symbol was the villagers, they were gathered around a corpse of a person, which was being held by a mysterious black figure drawn like a stickman kneeling.

Hmm... a sacrifice?

She speculated silently.

From the carvings, that entity didn’t seem human. It was drawn differently, pure black and faceless.

She felt both confused and intrigued. Somehow, the symbols felt more like a prophecy.

Perhaps there were survivors somewhere nearby?

After a few minutes, Samminah eventually stopped her investigations.

She didn’t dare to venture deeper. Since who knows, what might be lurking in the depths of the cave.

"It’s quite interesting here... We should return here after I grow stronger."

"Let’s not think about that for now."

Ryven sighed softly.

"Instead, shouldn’t we focus on escaping this place first?" He asked anxiously.

"Mm... You’re right."

Without another word, Samminah moved gracefully. She lifted him onto her shoulder once more.

While carrying Ryven, she leapt from tree to tree, moving cautiously as the fog limited her vision.

A few minutes later, she spotted a massive bird resting at the top of a huge tree. The creature being nearly five meters in size.

Samminah waved her hand, releasing a moonlight blade.

Due to her concealment ability, the bird remained unaware.

Before it could notice something amiss, Its head was already sliced cleanly, falling into the nest along with its body.

Two large white eggs remained behind.

[??? Had slain a First-Stage, Huge Bird]

Seeing another abomination easily defeated, Ryven couldn’t help but look at her with deep admiration.

He immediately transferred the experience points to her.

[+15 Experience Points]

Seeing the amount, he was slightly surprised.

Perhaps different species within the same

stage provided different experience points...

He quickly came to that conclusion, then shrugged it off.

The nest tilted as the bird’s body collapsed.

The two large eggs nearly fell, but Ryven quickly climbed onto the branch and caught them just in time.

The eggs were enormous, as long as his arm and as thick as tree branches.

Moments after he had rescued the two eggs, Samminah appeared. Without saying a word, she rested on the other side of the nest.

After securing the eggs, he laid down and opened his system, which where a golden panel appeared.

After spending a few minutes observing his surroundings and confirming there were no threats, he decided to use the Iron Ticket.

[Iron Ticket has been used.]

[Gacha Wheel is being activated.]

[Summoning...]

[Congratulations Host, has summoned a Rare-Tier being – Fred the Skeleton.]

Upon hearing the name, the corner of Ryven’s mouth twitched.

A faint light appeared. Compared to Samminah’s descent, it wasn’t as flashy.

After all, she was a Divine-Tier, the highest tier he could summon.

[Summoned name: Fred] [Level: 1]

[EXP: 0/10] [Tier: Rare] [Stats]

Disturbed from her rest, Samminah opened her eyes, calmly she observed what he had just done.

Not long after, she revealed a dissatisfied expression.

"You were able to summon me, yet now you can only summon a skeleton?"

"My ability is strange... Don’t think too much about it," Ryven replied vaguely.

Samminah shrugged as she turned away and closed her eyes again to rest.

Ryven shifted his focus to Fred’s stats.

[Gacha System] [Arcane Points: 0]

[Class: Devourer] [Rank:F] [Tier: Rare]

[Race: Skeleton]

[Bloodline: None]

[Skills: None]

[Ability: Devouring, ???]

[Inventory]

Raising his head and looking at the skeleton’s stats, Ryven was impressed. Gazing at the endurance and stamina, he found them particularly interesting.

I guess skeletons don’t get tired easily, and they also have strong endurance... Since they probably don’t even feel anything?

The skeleton stood at least six feet tall, wearing tattered bronze armor while holding a shield and a sword. Its hollow eye sockets gave off an eerie feeling as it stood motionless.

"Can you speak?"

Ryven waved his hand in front of the skeleton, but as expected, it didn’t respond, remaining still like a statue.

He then tried commanding the skeleton.

"Raise your sword."

As soon as he spoke, the skeleton lifted its sword without hesitation.

Ryven pondered for a moment.

Hmm... it seems Rare-Tier summons lack intelligence. They can only obey simple commands.

After realizing that, Ryven decided to sacrifice his only food in this place. He wanted to test the Devouring ability.

"Devour these two eggs."

Ryven pointed at one of the huge eggs. After receiving the command, the skeleton obeyed. Instead of opening its mouth, it stretched out its hand.

A suction force appeared from its palm, slowly devouring the egg piece by piece. After the first egg was devoured, nothing special happened. However, after the second egg, something finally occurred.

[Fred had slain a First-Stage, Fetus Huge Bird]

[+5 Experience Points]

[Fred had slain a First-Stage, Fetus Huge Bird]

[+5 Experience Points]

[Fred used Devouring and devoured a trait: Heightened Senses!]

Mm... so getting a trait is only by chance. It isn’t always guaranteed.

Naturally, he gave the experience points to Fred and prepared to allocate the points.

[Fred, Level had increased +1]

Only after two egg then he noticed that he finally leveled up. It was rather reasonable since the Huge bird wasn’t born yet.

Ryven then decided to allocate Fred’s point at reflex.

[Fred, Reflex increased +2]

After devouring the two eggs, with the increase in reflex and heightened senses, Fred looked visibly sharper.

At the same time he couldn’t help but be amused.

The bird earlier had incredibly sharp senses, yet it failed to detect them. This highlighted how strong Samminah’s Concealment ability truly was.

But it also highlighted how strange that cave was, since it was somehow able to detect both him and Samminah.

Suddenly he turned toward Samminah’s resting figure, his expression turning complex and slightly solemn.

He quitely mumbled a sentence.

"Hmm... With you, I should be able to leave this nightmare alive, right...?"
