As the massive Blood Skull Spiders advanced, Ryven and Fred had already retreated behind Samminah for protection.
Noticing the corpses of the fallen Blood Skull Spiders scattered across the ground, Ryven immediately commanded the skeleton.
"Take ten of those corpses with us."
"You can devour the rest after we’ve put some distance between ourselves and the cave."
The skeleton obeyed without hesitation.
Despite the disgust he was feeling, Ryven helped carry the corpses as well.
Once they were a safe distance away from the fight, Fred began devouring the remains.
The first five attempts Fred wasn’t able to devour any trait, making Ryven a little disappointed.
Sixth... seventh... eighth... ninth...
Before he knew it, only one corpse remained.
Ryven frowned slightly as no trait appeared.
Perhaps the chance of obtaining a trait from an ancient species is lower than normal ones?
He watched as the final corpse was devoured, but it ended just as the others had, sadly no miracle happened.

Each one carved cleanly through the spiders’s thick legs, severing them one after another.

Their shrill, piercing screams echoed through the cave, forcing Ryven to clamp his hands over his ears.
More Blood Skull Spiders surged forward.
But Samminah merely stepped back gracefully, never allowing them to close the distance to less than a meter.
She moved in a smooth arc, circling them as she cut them down one by one.
Realizing pursuit was futile, one of the spiders suddenly opened its jaws.
A sphere of green liquid rapidly formed—then shot forward, tearing through the air with terrifying force.
Samminah remained composed and sidestepped it effortlessly. The projectile flew past her, it struck a massive tree.
The tree, barely a meter from where Ryven and Fred stood, began to dissolve instantly.
The sturdy tree, far tougher than ordinary wood, melted like wax as it was consumed by the corrosive poison.
Ryven’s face paled as he stared at the scene.
Only then did Samminah’s voice reach his ears.
"Ah... I forgot to mention that they can do that."
"If it touches your skin, it will slowly dissolve your flesh... And naturally spread."
Ryven’s mouth twitched violently.
"...And you couldn’t have told me that sooner?"
Samminah didn’t even bother responding. She had already turned her attention back to the battlefield.
Some of the adult Blood Skull Spiders, realizing they stood no chance, turned and fled deeper into the cave.
Those who tried to run were well within her calculations.
With a simple wave of her hand, a massive crescent-shaped moonlight blade formed again.

In an instant, the fleeing spiders were split clean in half.

As her gaze extended further inward, her brows slowly furrowed.

She began inspecting the cave more carefully. It was nearly identical to the one they had encountered a week ago.
The only difference was that this one had been partially occupied by Blood Skull Spiders.
Without delay, she swept away the dust and webs that surrounded the walls by using Moon Luminesce.
Although she could sense more Blood Skull Spiders slowly awakening, she ignored them for the time being.
Soon, some symbols revealed itself.
Looking at the symbols, her eyes lit up. As she had expected, they depicted the second phase of the scene she had seen from the first cave.
She then calmly continued examining them.

The statue possessed twelve wings—six white and six black. Tears streamed down its face, and its expression seemed to convey immense pain and sorrow.
The symbols that followed showed the abominations that was surrounding the village gradually disappearing.
Now the village seemed happy and lively.
But at the very end of the symbol, the figure who had given the corpse was grinning creepily.
"Interesting..."
Even as a goddess, Samminah found the symbols intriguing. Especially this place—she had never encountered anything like it before.
The mystery surrounding it stirred her
curiosity, enough to make a faint smile form beneath her purple veil mask.
"Watch out!"
Samminah shifted her gaze just in time to see a massive green sphere shooting toward her.
Caught off guard, she managed to evade the attack at the last second, though not entirely.
The attack grazed her, tearing away a portion of her flesh as it began to slowly dissolve. She frowned, immediately wrapping her body with Moon Luminesce to prevent it from spreading.
Being too immersed in the mystery of the place, Samminah had almost forgotten about the other abominations that emerged.
"Hmph... These disgusting creatures dares to injure me?"
She snorted coldly as at least six moonlight blades began to manifest, three of them coated with Moon Luminesce.
With her current strength, conjuring six moonlight blades was her limit, and only six could be enhanced by her Moon Luminesce.
After conjuring them, she felt the rapid consumption of her mana.
The moonlight blades shot forward, faster than before.
Samminah had fully channeled her mana, driving them even quicker and killing the targets instantly.
The five adult Blood Skull Spiders that had just awakened had no time to react as they got their skulls shattered after awakening.

While thinking, Ryven suddenly saw a huge spider—this time far larger than an adult Blood Skull Spider. It had a massive abdomen, and black horns jutted out from its skull.
"It’s the mother?" She quietly murmured to herself, before warning Ryven, "Be careful, this one is close to breaking through to Fourth-Stage."
After warning them, Ryven saw countless small Blood Skull Spiders rushing toward the two of them.
"Defend yourself."
After commanding that to Fred, they raised their weapons.
This time, he wasn’t as nervous as before, although the number of the small blood skull spiders was greater than before.
They weren’t the least bit fazed.
Ryven and Fred once again fought with all their might.

Ryven wanted to cover his ears, but he couldn’t, as the small blood skull spiders kept attacking him continuously.
A few seconds later, because of how loud the scream was, blood slowly began to seep from his ears, and his vision gradually blurred.
Subconsciously, he glanced up and saw the Mother of Blood Skull Spiders being attacked by moonlight blades nonstop.
