At first, the world became unusually quiet. It was then followed by a blinding light and then a deafening boom that seemed to shake the heavens and the earth apart.
The thunderous boom echoed along the valley; violent gusts of wind tore the air like the ripple of death.
Hundreds of meters away, still running with all their might, Desther and Lexie heard the loud thunder of the Shadow Monster’s last echo.
Both of their hairs rippled and fluttered amidst the gust of wind that assaulted their backs. The violent wind grew stronger every step they took and seemed to leave the wind behind, only for it to hit their back the next instant.
Hundreds of meters behind them, a mushroom cloud rose along the valley’s broken silence. Earth trembled from the deafening explosion; their feet felt the tremor beneath, as if threatening to topple them over.
As fast as they were, the Shadow Monster was just too quick with its decision to self-destruct. There were no warning signs, and there was little time to react.
Both of them exploded out of the way, but the explosion still caught them in time hundreds of meters away.
Blown away along with the cloud of dust, Desther did not underestimate it and channeled all his strength to his feet. Lexie was doing the same, employing both her Thunderstep and Tempest Step to get as far away as possible.

Both of them thought almost at the same time.
The gust of wind was still going stronger, it was a definite conclusion that they would be caught up in it.
Their time was running out. The ever-expanding speed of the humongous fireball behind them was still traveling outward. Any second now and that fireball would surely reach the two of them.
Both their enhanced forms had a varying degree of defense, but they were unsure if it would be able to outlast the explosion caused by the Shadow Monster’s self-destruction.
Lexie could not sustain her Thunder Empress Form for too long. The same could be said for Desther, only that he would be able to hold it for about two more minutes than her.
Knowing that, Desther gritted his teeth and only hesitated for a bit before dashing toward her.
The explosion behind finally struck them. Desther took Lexie to his arm as the two of them were catapulted forward due to the momentum caused by the explosion behind them.
Lexie was surprised by his action, hugged by Desther from behind; her body instinctively felt the shivers, but the heat that surrounded the two of them pulled her back from the momentary stupor.
Searing heat assaulted their skins, as if threatening to melt them into smithereens.
Even Desther with the Supreme Body could feel his entire body burning amidst the wave of heat. Although it was trying to adapt, the heat was too strong and too sudden.

If not for the fact that they were still being catapulted away as of this moment, none of his clothes would have remained from the initial blast of the explosion.
Lexie has her lightning armor on, but even that was not enough to shield her from the heat. Covered by Desther, though, the direct heat she was feeling was at the very least countless times lower compared to what he was enduring.
Knowing this, she gritted her teeth and willed using the last bit of her strength to transfer the lightning armor to him.
Unlike her, Desther was getting the brunt of the fire from behind. She could already feel the heat trying to melt her skin, how much more him that was covering her from the heatwave?
She curled her body and allowed Desther to cover her with his tight embrace.
With her lightning armor gone, she could feel the heat burn her even more. Her clothes also began to disintegrate, but Desther’s embrace allowed the most important parts to remain.
On the other hand, Desther felt the pain alleviate when the lightning armor coated his whole body, saving his body some precious time, allowing it to recover swiftly amidst the storm of heat assaulting him.
However, despite the strength of the armor, it still could not compare to the blazing heat caused by the explosion.
The armor disintegrated a few seconds later, his body had already recovered a bit, but the heat wave only grew stronger.
He tightened his embrace of Lexie, shielding her from the heat that comes his way.
His brows furrowed to a frown while the searing heat assaulted his back once more.

Seeing that, Desther twisted his body and allowed his back to land on the ground, the momentum caused them to bounce even more forward, his back tearing through the trees as the force continued to dwindle.
After a minute that felt like an eternity, the force and momentum finally slowed down, his back dragging the ground with Lexie curled up on top of him, hugged by his tight embrace.
His back struck a huge tree, stopping them once and for all.
He could feel the searing pain on his back and entire body, but Desther did not let out even a grunt. He gritted his teeth, endured the pain, and slowly released Lexie from his embrace.
The Supreme Form went off almost at the same time.
His arms were weak and full of burnt marks; it almost looked like charcoal. Even his face has some burnt marks on it. His hair, though, remained untouched. It had changed color when he was on his Supreme Form, it might have been spared from the burn because of it.
Although he could not see his back as of this moment, he knew that the injuries it sustained were no joke.
Now almost a kilometer away from the point of explosion, the heat had dissipated to a degree their strong body could finally endure.
As a matter of fact, Desther could feel that his body was now beginning to heal as of this moment. Although it was slow, he could feel his injuries getting better.
Desther turned to look at Lexie, who still had not gotten away on top of him.
