Chapter 514: Chapter 514: He’s With Another Woman

"I don’t want to rush up and ask questions when Yvonne Rhodes is present," Evelyn’s voice was very soft, and there was no extra brightness in her amber eyes, "it would make me look like a shrew."

"Young Madam..."

"I don’t need sympathy or pity." Evelyn gave Yvette a gentle smile and continued, "Do me a favor, okay?"

Yvette responded, "You say."

"We are both women. Can you stand on my side and help me, instead of standing on Uncle’s side... and monitoring me?" Evelyn asked quietly.

"You misunderstand." Yvette shook her head, "My role is not to monitor, but to protect."

"If it’s just protection, then it’s only about ensuring my safety, not reporting to Uncle about where I go, what I do, and what happens, right?" Evelyn questioned.

Yvette was taken aback, realizing that she had fallen into Evelyn’s trap.

"There are some things I want to resolve face-to-face with Uncle." Evelyn’s eyes sparkled with strong complexity when she spoke, "I don’t want others involved. So... Yvette, do you understand what I mean?"

"I understand." Yvette replied, "Rest assured, starting today, I will only be responsible for your safety. As for everything else, I won’t report to the Young Master."

"You..." Evelyn seemed very surprised, "Why did you agree to my request?"

"Because I am a bodyguard, only responsible for your safety." Yvette’s tone was neither cold nor warm.

Her original task wasn’t to monitor Evelyn.

Evelyn gave Yvette a bright smile, then walked toward Caden Lockwood’s office.

Outside the office, Sean Ashton wasn’t present. Evelyn looked at her desk, still clean and neat.

She couldn’t help but recall the days when she interned here, how she would meet Caden Lockwood’s gaze when she looked up.

Those days, although brief, were especially warm.

Only then did she realize how many things had happened between her and Caden Lockwood without her noticing!

Lightly stroking her desk, Evelyn’s heart was filled with a deep bitterness, some worries blocking her heart, leaving her unsure of what to do.

At this moment, an employee approached.

Evelyn had seen him before; he was a junior apprentice under Sean Ashton, responsible for handling minor tasks.

"Young Madam!" the employee immediately greeted, "Are you here to see the boss?"

Evelyn stood still and whispered, "Hmm, he’s not here."

"The boss just went to the rooftop to meet a very important client. He should be back shortly," the employee explained, "I’m heading up there too. Do you want me to let the boss know you’re here?"

A very important client?

Evelyn took a deep breath.

Could it be that Yvonne Rhodes is Caden Lockwood’s very important client?

It’s lunchtime. Could Caden Lockwood and Yvonne Rhodes have gone to the rooftop for lunch?

Quickly stopping the wild thoughts in her mind, Evelyn was unwilling to condemn Caden Lockwood before understanding the situation.

"Alright." Evelyn responded as if by some guiding force, "Go ahead and tell him! Just say I’ve arrived and am waiting here."

"Then, Young Madam, why don’t you have a seat inside the office?" the employee said cheerfully.

Evelyn nodded, opened the office door, and sat inside with Yvette to wait.

Looking around Caden Lockwood’s office, it still felt empty and tidy.

Evelyn sat on the sofa, holding a thermos box in her hands as if cradling a precious jade stone.

On the surface, she appeared very calm, showing no ripples, but inside, she was in complete turmoil.
