Chapter 505: Chapter 505: You Definitely Have a Way to Save Him
Listening to Evelyn’s words, Yvette slowed down the car a bit and looked at her softly, "The Lockwood Family is not an easy place to go."
"But there are some things I must say directly to the Chairman!" Evelyn’s tone was determined.
"If the Young Master knew you were going..."
"I will explain it to him." Evelyn looked at Yvette with an aura that demanded compliance, "I won’t be in danger, trust me."
Yvette awkwardly curled her lips.
She clearly should have forcefully refused Evelyn, yet inexplicably, she seemed intimidated by Evelyn, feeling she should agree to her request.
Yvette felt a bit of a headache, not knowing why her normally icy temperament seemed ineffective after encountering Evelyn.
Without saying more, Yvette drove Evelyn to the Lockwood Family’s place.
At that moment, James Lockwood had already gotten up.
As he aged, sleeping held little appeal for him.
Falling asleep had ironically become a painful affair.
Hearing from the bodyguard that Evelyn was here to see him, a complicated expression crossed James Lockwood’s face.
"Evelyn?" James Lockwood repeated as if he misheard, "Why did she suddenly want to see me?"
The bodyguard shook his head.
They weren’t in the habit of prying into such matters.
"Let her in," James Lockwood said in a low voice, "After all, that girl holds no threat."
The bodyguard obeyed and instructed the guards at the gate to let her in.
Yvette stayed close by Evelyn, knowing that entering the Lockwood Family’s house was potentially dangerous.
Because, they had no idea what James Lockwood might do to Evelyn, who came to him on her own.
Especially since there were so many bodyguards in the Lockwood Family, Yvette alone couldn’t protect Evelyn’s safety.
"You’re looking for me?" James Lockwood was the first to speak, "What’s the matter?"
Evelyn glanced at the two bodyguards behind James Lockwood, then softly said, "Can we... talk alone?"
"Alone?" James Lockwood raised an eyebrow, then pointed at Yvette and asked, "Is your little bodyguard willing to let you talk to me alone?"
Without needing Evelyn to answer, Yvette spoke respectfully, "If Chairman Lockwood is truly talking to the Young Madam alone, naturally, I have no concerns."
James Lockwood let out a faint smile, then waved off the bodyguards beside him.
Yvette glanced around, confirming temporarily that there was indeed no one else.
At the moment, it appeared relatively safe for Evelyn, and with that, Yvette also withdrew.
In the vast living room, only Evelyn and James Lockwood remained.
James Lockwood sat on the sofa, while Evelyn stood in front of him, the two exchanging glances, with two different auras clashing.
Although James Lockwood was already old, the storms he had weathered over the years were enough for him not to take a little girl like Evelyn seriously, and his formidable presence easily dominated Evelyn.
But Evelyn was not willing to back down.
All along, she had been the delicate one, needing protection.
But now, she had a purpose in seeking out James Lockwood; despite not being as formidable as him, the aura surrounding her was equally not to be underestimated.
"Caden’s headaches are caused by you," Evelyn softly broke the silence in the living room, "You must have a way to cure him."
James Lockwood looked Evelyn over, a deep something flashed in his eyes, and he asked, "You came rushing to see me early in the morning just for this matter?"
Before Evelyn could speak, James Lockwood continued, "His headaches have become more severe and more frequent, haven’t they?"
