Chapter 502: Chapter 502: What Is the Big Brother in Your Heart Like?
"I’m fine." Caden Lockwood forced himself to speak through the pain, "It’ll pass soon."
"Don’t talk!" Evelyn Morgan couldn’t help raising her voice, "At times like this, I don’t need you to comfort me! Why are your headaches happening more and more frequently? Didn’t it just happen last time? Waaa—why do you have to suffer like this? I don’t want that!"
Watching the tears fall from Evelyn’s eyes, Caden’s heart warmed. It seemed that the pain, which felt like it could kill him, also diminished a bit.
Holding her hand, he said softly, "Silly, don’t cry, come into my arms."
Evelyn bit her lip, got on the bed, and used her arm as a pillow for Caden.
She really hated this current situation.
Clearly, when they were sleeping, it was him who coaxed her to sleep. How did everything change now?
"You’re cheating!" Evelyn cried worriedly, "You’re older than me, and you’re a man, you should be taking care of me! How did it become me taking care of you? Hurry up and get better, don’t have headaches anymore, do you hear?"
Caden nodded, raised his hand, wanting to wipe Evelyn’s tears, but he was too weak from the headache to do so.
Evelyn hurriedly wiped her tears away herself and forced out a smile that looked worse than crying, choking out, "Close your eyes and sleep! If you sleep, it won’t hurt!"
"Evelyn." Caden’s eyes were filled with deep tenderness, but his pale face showed just how weak he was at the moment.
After pausing for a long while, he finally had the strength to continue, "Tell me about the big brother who adopted you, what kind of person is he?"
Evelyn was startled. Why did Caden want to hear her opinion of the big brother at a time like this?
Was he... jealous?
Or... testing?
"I want to hear." Caden said softly, deliberately adding, "I really want to know."
Seeing the sweat all over Caden, Evelyn’s face was filled with intense worry.
Although she had already given Caden medicine, how could the medicine take effect so quickly?
And yet now, he was acting like everything was fine in front of her, making her even more worried about him.
But if talking to him could distract his attention, that would be nice!
Sniffling, Evelyn turned off the bedroom light, then tightened her embrace around Caden, warming his nearly ice-cold body with her own body heat.
"When I met the big brother, it was a few days after I’d been separated from my biological brother. I was always waiting for my own brother, but he never came. Instead, the big brother appeared like an angel." Evelyn spoke as scenes of her first meeting with the big brother unavoidably surfaced in her mind.
It was a sunlit day, the sunlight shining from behind the big brother, making him glow all over, like a god in her world.
But at the time, she only met the big brother once, and she was so young that now, the memory of that meeting had mostly faded.
However, suddenly, she remembered that Caden had appeared in her life once under the sunlight just like a god.
The big brother and Caden seemed to have merged into one.
Her heartbeat unconsciously speeded up, Evelyn forcefully suppressed some wild thoughts, not allowing herself to get distracted at this moment.
She continued, "Even though I only met the big brother once, he must be an incredibly handsome man, tall, with broad shoulders that give a strong sense of security."
