Chapter 467: Chapter 467: Will the Wedding Go as Planned
These past few days, Julian Keaton has been staying with Cecilia Lynch, not sleeping at home at all, and he hasn’t gone to the office, which has caused Mr. Keaton to take on a lot more work, making him angry enough to call and scold someone every day.
"The Keaton Family hasn’t even acknowledged her yet!" Eleanor Keaton said with a harsh tone, "Brother, I just don’t get it, how is Hannah Clayton worse than Cecilia Lynch? You must really have a poor sense of judgment!"
"Eleanor!" Julian’s voice turned cold, "You think you have good judgment? Caden has rejected you like that, and yet you keep throwing yourself at him? You’ve completely embarrassed the Keaton Family!"
"Brother!" Eleanor’s complexion changed with anger, "If you marry Cecilia Lynch, that’s what will embarrass the Keaton Family!"
Julian stepped forward, wanting to teach this troublemaking Eleanor a lesson, but Cecilia quickly held him back.
Cecilia didn’t want her presence to turn the once warm Keaton Family into a total mess.
Mrs. Keaton glanced at Eleanor, then at Cecilia, and said coldly, "Julian, your father has something to discuss with you. I’ll talk to Cecilia in the study."
"No way." Julian protested, "Why can’t we discuss it together?"
"I’m willing!" Cecilia quickly replied, "Julian, you have a good talk with your uncle, and I’ll go to the study with your aunt."
"Don’t pretend to be both aggrieved and reasonable." Mrs. Keaton said with a harsh tone, "You have disrupted the mother-son relationship between me and Julian just to marry into wealth, what kind of good impression can I have of you?"
Julian simply pulled Cecilia behind him and met his mother’s eyes, saying unhappily, "Mom, I’ve never gone against you and Dad. I know it’s not easy raising me, and I’ve never let you down. But this time, you’ve really disappointed me!"
"You!"
"That dream you have of the Keaton Family becoming prosperous, I can achieve it on my own." Julian’s tone was full of arrogance and confidence, "I don’t need to find a woman to help me!"
"I’m going to the study." Mrs. Keaton couldn’t be bothered to argue with Julian, "Cecilia, whether you come or not is up to you."
Julian grabbed Cecilia’s hand and shook his head at her.
He knew his mother too well, she would likely threaten or cajole Cecilia.
Cecilia definitely wouldn’t be able to withstand it.
"Julian." Cecilia’s voice was very small, "With what you’re doing, you’re already making me the villain. Let me go talk to your aunt."
"But..."
"Let go!" Cecilia was anxious, "Do you want our wedding to proceed as planned or not?"
Julian could only helplessly let go of Cecilia.
He still worried that Cecilia only pretended to be with him, and then, while he was not paying attention, she would leave, and he wouldn’t be able to find her again.
How could he dare let her face his mother alone?
But if he didn’t let her go, that wasn’t a good solution either.
Cecilia gave Julian a faint smile, a reassuring signal, and then stepped firmly toward the study.
In the study, Mrs. Keaton sat in a chair while Cecilia stood before her, looking like an employee about to be reprimanded.
Cecilia didn’t want Julian to keep protecting her.
She had always chosen to avoid.
She hoped she could be brave for once, be brave for this mismatched love.
"You should be well aware that a woman like you marrying Julian will only drag him down." Mrs. Keaton began coldly, with a face full of disdain, without sparing Cecilia any dignity.
