Chapter 463: Chapter 463: Or Maybe She’s Not Dead?
Evelyn’s steps came to an abrupt halt, and her face instinctively turned pale. But when she blinked again, Yvonne Rhodes was nowhere to be seen.
Evelyn ran forward a few steps, carefully scanning the area again, but there was indeed no sign of Yvonne Rhodes.
Was it her hallucination?
Evelyn stood there, feeling something was off.
How could she suddenly hallucinate Yvonne Rhodes?
Could it be that she really saw Yvonne Rhodes just now?
Evelyn shook her head, thinking she must be too exhausted from taking care of Caden Lockwood these days. Yvonne Rhodes had always been her mental burden, so it might just be causing these strange hallucinations!
After all, Yvonne Rhodes was declared dead at the scene, so she must have... died, right?
Or, didn’t she die?
Evelyn looked around again but indeed saw no Yvonne Rhodes. She brushed aside the unsettling thoughts in her mind and took the subway back to the villa...
At nightfall, Caden Lockwood had a dinner engagement outside. By the time he returned, Evelyn had already had dinner.
She was sitting in the bedroom, casually flipping through a book, while Kiki was running around her, playing joyfully.
Upon hearing the sound of the car returning, Evelyn immediately stood up and said to Kiki, "Uncle is back! You need to go to your own room now! Don’t disturb us!"
Kiki looked at Evelyn with a woeful expression, as if to say: Ever since Caden Lockwood came around, you don’t want me anymore!
Evelyn flashed a playful smile and whispered, "Be good! I only have this bit of time with Uncle each day; during the day, don’t I spend it with you?"
"So engrossed in talking to Kiki?" Caden Lockwood’s voice suddenly rang out, "Didn’t you realize I was back?"
Evelyn immediately lifted her gaze, and upon seeing Caden Lockwood, her face blossomed into a smile brighter than a flower.
Even when she spoke, her tone unconsciously softened, uttering with utmost tenderness, "You’re back! I was just about to take Kiki to its own room!"
Caden Lockwood relaxed his chest, and when Kiki saw him, it rubbed affectionately against his leg. Aunt May hurriedly came to take Kiki out for a walk.
"Aunt May really goes to great lengths for you!" Caden Lockwood chuckled lightly.
Evelyn blushed—Aunt May truly wished for her and Caden Lockwood to be happy together.
She couldn’t help but think: With Aunt May’s intentions so obvious, could it be confirmed already that Caden Lockwood is the big brother?
As she thought this, Evelyn shuddered with fear.
She never dared to deeply consider whether Caden Lockwood was the big brother; it always filled her with dread.
After all, if Caden Lockwood really is the big brother and he’s hiding it from her, there must be some important secret he’s keeping!
Shaking her head, Evelyn was just about to speak when Caden Lockwood spoke first, "Did you eat well?"
"Yes!" Evelyn responded.
Then, silence fell between her and Caden Lockwood.
Caden Lockwood looked around, still wondering if Evelyn had already bought him a gift.
But after looking around, there didn’t seem to be anything new at home.
Could she have hidden it?
"Did you have a good time shopping with Cecilia Lynch?" Caden Lockwood couldn’t help but ask.
Evelyn was taken aback, not expecting Caden to bring it up.
Lying over the phone is completely different from lying face-to-face.
Facing Caden Lockwood’s scrutinizing gaze, Evelyn worried she might slip up.
However, she wasn’t doing anything bad anyway!
