Chapter 256: 256. Exposed

As evening approached, the sun was starting to get red. Thousands of monsters ran across barren plains, overshadowing the horizon. It was as if doomsday had arrived.

Since Bors had gathered the soldiers stationed around northwest Gaephia, the first wave encountered minimal resistance while infiltrating Nuving.

After Jake had successfully advanced, he found it much easier to control these monsters. Thus, the journey was going smoothly and at this rate, he expected to arrive at Ulford in less than two days. Though, with his individual speed, he could get there in a few hours.

Previously, Jake hadn’t felt the need to rush so much. Since the second wave was already making a headway from the south, he could take his time to farm evil points at every city and town. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

After all, this was one of the main reasons why Jake launched this conquest. To be honest, he could’ve infiltrated the palace himself and tried to control the royalty.

But doing so would ultimately prove to be risky. He’d always have to be wary of the church, in case any high-ranking cleric or paladin realised something was amiss.

The royal family was relatively powerful, but he wasn’t worried about them. The problem was the forces of the Holy Light. They seemed to have a deep foundation in this kingdom.

Thus, Jake had to completely root them out if he wanted full control of Grimbow. Only then would he be able to expand his own cult.

The citizens of Grimbow had been living in peace for far too long and their faith in the God of Light was firm. Jake wasn’t naive enough to think that he’d always be able to replicate the success in Gera City.

Unless these people experienced hardship, bloodshed, and loss... they will continue to believe in their God. When this God failed, when their prayers remained unanswered - only then could he step in. This war was necessary.

However, he didn’t expect that his acts would draw the attention of existences outside of the kingdom. That’s why he was in such a hurry to reach the capital.

’How did that guy even know about me?’ Jake thought while flying beside Yvonne.

He hadn’t forgotten the terrifying system messages that appeared half an hour ago. He pulled up the system logs to examine them once again.

[Ding! The system has sensed a divination attempt upon the host’s fate. Source currently unknown. Would you like to spend 10,000 Evil Points to interfere with this divination?]

At first, Jake was mildly surprised and interfered without much thought. However, a glaring red message came five seconds later.

[Warning! This divination is identified to be of extremely high-level. Interference failed.]

Just a minute later, another red message came, followed by a flurry of notifications.

[Warning! The host’s past information has been partially leaked. Deploying emergency protocols...]

[Ding! Deducted 1,000,000 Evil Points from the host’s balance. Your current Destiny Mark has been shielded for 90 days...]

[Ding! Located the source of divination. Would you like to import caster information?]

By the time Jake realised what happened, he was about seven hundred thousand points in debt. When he saw the information provided by the system, he felt even more terrified.

[Diviner: Percival Feathers, the Truthful - Third Eye Saint (Peak 6th Circle)]

[Affiliation: Holy Lumian Empire (The Blue Cardinal)]

Jake had already learned the names of many countries, but he’d never heard of this Holy Lumian Empire.

’Is it the actual name of the theocracy? They both have holy in it...’ Jake wondered.

After Jake clashed with Ash when he was still a Paladin, he’d done a thorough research on the church’s forces. This name had never popped up.

Still it had to be somewhere on the map. Considering the fact that this was called an Empire, it must be significantly large.

Also this Percival guy was a high-ranking saint who somehow found out about him and even did a divination. This couldn’t be a coincidence.

’Can these saints just sense when someone is doing evil?’ Jake felt that it was just absurd.

’Is the God of Light guiding him? Have I gone too far?’ Many thoughts came to his mind.

Ever since Jake had arrived in this world, he had come across various bizarre abilities. Since magic existed, there was a possibility for anything to happen.

’But why would this God only notice me now and even if he did, why wouldn’t the Saint just come here and kill me? No no, I’m thinking too much...’ Jake began to analyze his circumstances.

Although this Holy Lumian Empire was an unfamiliar name, it had to be associated with the Holy Theocracy that he knew about. The only links to the Holy Theocracy and him were the churches in Grimbow.

Now it made sense. Someone had obviously notified their higher-ups about him. Who else could it be other than the people from the main diocese?

It had to be the Archbishop’s doing. Only he should have the authority to contact such an important figure.

’But that’s strange... I’ve never exposed myself personally. How could he know about me?’

Jake was familiar with the method of divination. Without some relevant information, it was the same as searching for a specific fish in a vast ocean. It simply didn’t make sense. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Unfortunately, Jake had no way of knowing what went on behind the scenes. If not for the system’s timely warning, he would remain oblivious to the fact that he’d already been exposed.

Now that a 6th Circle being had taken interest in him, there were bound to be problems. The only thing he could do now was to finish his conquest as soon as possible.

Once this matter ended, he would have to assume a low profile. Jake had no idea how much the other party knew about him.

The system had told him that some of his past information had been leaked. He could only hope that it wasn’t too detrimental.

"Tch." Jake clicked his tongue, looking at the system panel. He was already feeling broke and now those negative numbers just soured his mood.

’’Third Eye Saint, huh?’’ He muttered and glanced ahead, closing the panel.

"Someday I’ll farm a million points out of you to settle this debt..."
