Chapter 255: 255. A Saint’s Abilities
"You don’t have to use my title, Brother Percival. Have you traced the origin of that Hell Knight?"
In response, the giant eyes began to glisten and a strange aura seeped out. Within a few seconds, hundreds of scenes flashed on those blue irises before stopping at a certain dark scene.
There were two individuals chasing a paladin at night. After a fierce battle, the paladin was burned from the ability cast by the red individual.
The scene zoomed in and the red individual’s features became clearer. It was a tall, lean demon holding a longsword. However, upon a closer look, one could see that he had no mouth or nose. Even his eyes were missing, replaced by strange silver fire.
"So that’s him..." Claire muttered.
"From the information you’ve given me about Jacob Kingsley, I can confirm that this Hell Knight hasn’t ventured out of Grimbow’s territory." The mysterious voice spoke.
"Let me see where it came from."
The scene within the blue irises changed once again. Earlier it was all about High Paladin Jacob but now a vast greenery was shown.
Elves appeared in the scene, living in a serene city. There was a large palace in the middle of the city, situated entirely atop a giant tree’s crown.
The eyes immediately focused on a youthful swordsman there who knelt below a young girl. Her face was obscure and she seemed to be saying something.
"This palace..." Claire’s expression became unfocused, as if she was trying to remember something.
As the scenes kept changing, showing that same elf’s life, the saintness finally tilted her head.
"This Hell Knight came from the Darknight Forest? How can it be an elf?"
"He must’ve been transformed." The Third Eye Saint voiced his opinion.
After a few seconds, the eyes showed a humongous dungeon entrance. Although the image was vague, it was easy for the watchers to confirm that this was a tier 2 dungeon.
"That must be the place... Could it be that he got possessed by a Greater Demon resting there?"
The eyes now showed a great battle happening inside the dungeon. However, the scenes were getting blurrier, forcing the Third Eye Saint to use even more mana.
"Trying to interfere? How bold!" Saint Percival’s three eyes opened even further and the scenes immediately stabilized.
Claire could now see a prison room which was dimly illuminated. The elf, obviously Issac, was chained there and a dark figure was walking around him.
"Hmm?" The Saintess looked closer but the scene changed again.
This time, there was an elf girl and several other blurry women in the room. The traced elf within the scene was intensely looking at the elf girl and the dark figure behind her.
The next scene appeared immediately and it drew surprised gasps from both the Saint and the Saintess.
"This..."
It was undoubtedly the moment when Jake and Valerie were fucking. Although Jake’s body was clear in the scene, the image of his head was extremely blurry.
The sex scenes lasted for quite some time, indicating that this was related to the Hell Knight.
Claire’s lips twitched as she took a deep breath and looked away for a moment. It was rare to see her flustered like this.
"Such obscenity..." She couldn’t help but mutter while still peeking from time to time, telling herself that she couldn’t miss any details for the sake of this investigation.
"My apologies." Percival lightly coughed.
Finally, the sex scenes ended. There seemed to be something happening to the elf. The blurry man standing at the front was holding a gross object.
"Hmph, show your face!" The saint had already realized that this particular man, most possibly a demon, was the mastermind and quickly focused on him.
But as he zoomed in, the scene suddenly shattered. Black and red veins appeared on his projected irises.
"What?" Percival let out a shocked shout.
"Careful!" Claire teleported right in front of the three eyes. She cast a holy spell to banish the evil aura which had locked onto the saint.
However, veins spread even further, as if angered by the audacity of that attempt. This caused Claire to solemnly close her eyes.
Suddenly, an intricate Divine Array lit up on the floor and the walls of the white hall. Its layers stacked all around the three giant eye projections which were almost completely restricted.
"Manifest, O’ Virtue of Mercy!" The Saintess placed one hand between her breasts and gently extended the other hand upward, chanting with a compassionate expression.
A vast stream of holy mana flowed from her fragile-looking palm, turning into countless lilies which shot beams of golden radiance onto the three eyes.
The dark and red veins spreading across the irises disintegrated bit by bit, leaving a pungent smell in the air. But even that smell was soon gone.
Once the threat was finally dealt with, the saintess heaved a long sigh and landed on the floor, nearly stumbling. That was her ultimate ability and it left her completely drained.
"Thank you, Claire. I owe you another favor now." The three eyes had dimmed a bit and the voice seemed tired.
"No, this happened because of me. I didn’t realise that Hell Knight had such a terrifying background." A hint of fear and anger could be seen on the saintess’s usually serene face.
"If I’m not wrong, the aura earlier was of the Primordial Abyss."
"But the Abyss split up before this world even came to be. The present Demon Kings and Queens can barely invoke its powers." Claire replied.
"Fortunately, only a bit of its aura retaliated against my divination..." Saint Percival was clearly shaken.
At the same time, the two of them placed even more attention on this mysterious demon who’d created that Hell Knight.
However, the Third Eye Saint was injured when his divination backfired. Even though he’d only projected his powers from far away, his main body back in Nunan Continent was affected.
"I’ll report this matter to the Sacred Pontiff but I’m not sure if they’ll even believe me." Percival said as his three eyes began to retreat back into the spatial rifts.
Claire simply nodded. She wasn’t expecting him to help her more than this.
Though it concerned the Primordial Abyss, that mysterious demon had appeared in the Alora Continent afterall. The Virtue Council was tasked with maintaining order here.
After the Original Church split up, the two theocracies had differing views about the God of Light and didn’t usually cooperate. free𝑤ebnovel.com
Even in this invasion, the West Theocracy, more widely known as the Holy Lumian Empire, only sent a few convoys as reinforcements.
Truth to be told, the East and the West didn’t see each other eye-to-eye. Claire’s friendship with Percival dated back to their childhood, that’s why she could ask for his help. But he couldn’t possibly aid her right now.
She wanted to bring this matter to the other council members, but they were ordered to stay at their posts.
Most of them were recuperating and even she couldn’t easily leave. Otherwise, the theocracy would be weakened if the demons launched a sudden attack.
Yet, she couldn’t just hand this matter to 5th Circlers. What if the other party was at the 6th Circle?
"Sigh." Saintess Claire tapped her foot, appearing near an indoor pool. She crouched and glanced at her beautiful figure on the water’s reflection.
As she ran a finger across her smooth face, strings of light escaped from her forehead. They gathered beside her, forming into an identical woman wearing a blindfold.
This woman, clad in heroic white and red armor, had a completely different demeanor. Holding a gray claymore without a scabbard, she radiated an aura of grace and valor, like a valkyrie.
Among a thousand, she was indubitably Claire’s most powerful clone - Clara, the Merciless Maiden. Born of her eradicated feelings while cultivating the Virtue of Mercy, this maiden was also at the 6th Circle.
Even though she lacked some fundamental abilities, she was still capable of subduing anyone at the 5th Circle.
"Go to Grimbow." Claire kept looking at the pond water.
As her clone shared memories and senses with her, there was no need to elaborate.
Hearing her original self, Clara raised her head and looked toward the west. Then, her reflection soundlessly vanished, as if it was never there.
