Chapter 1090: Chapter 1086: PENNY SHOOTING HERSELF IN THE FOOT

’What a daring woman!’ that was his first thought when Russ was listening to Diamond’s words coming from his wife’s mouth.

He could already picture her, speaking seriously like she always does in her broadcasts.

He had always known that she was opinionated and she was someone who would never let herself suffer any wrongdoing. But it was still surprising to hear what she spoke about regarding relationships and marriages.

It was a first for him, actually to hear something like that. After all, women in Brece were one of a kind. They were not that bold and would always try to mind their image, especially those from big families with reputation to maintain.

Did he like that?

Not exactly.

They always felt fake.

It reminded him of Penny herself. Being around someone whose actions completely differs with her emotions makes him feel very tired.

He might not have loved Penny when he married her, but if they had worked out their differences, then their relationship wouldn’t be so cold, to be reduced to the extent of sharing the bed like roommates without his heart fluttering for a woman.

The more he thinks that she was being fake, the more disinterested he becomes. After all, who doesn’t want a taste of something genuine for once?

Perhaps, it was because of those feelings that whenever he was looking at Diamond, he would feel this sense of magical release he had never felt in a long time.

She was sincere throughout. She doesn’t just go through motions but she just tell you as it is without wasting time lying.

So, rather than feeling that Diamond was an anomaly and wasn’t the virtuous kind of woman he would expect, he found her quite pleasant.

And the more he listened to Penny’s tone, the more he started to feel that things weren’t exactly right.

Why was she tattling on someone who treated her well like that?

What was she trying to achieve by going behind another woman’s back and speak ill of her like that?

Since when did she became this petty?

Feeling quite angry at Penny’s actions, he turned to look at her with a cold expression which startled Penny, who was in the middle of spicing things up.

"R-Russ ..." she anxiously called his name, having this foreboding feeling looming over her.

"Penny! As a woman and a mother, stop being petty!" he coldly reprimanded her without showing nay mercy, making Penny’s eyes to widen in shock as she wasn’t expected to be scolded because of another woman.

"You _" she felt anger rising within her at the though of her defending someone one. Unfortunately, she wasn’t given a chance to finish her words as Russ cut her off.

"What’s wrong with her character? At least she is true to herself. She is a woman who knows her worth. Loves herself and knows what she wants. She is capable, and have the capital to do whatever she wants. So, why should be oppressed by some nonsensical beliefs and be restricted and restrained simply because she is a woman?" he retorted, a scoff escaping his lips.

He has seen a lot of powerful women who were busy improving the nation’s economy. However, most of them were simply corrupted by these beliefs. At the end of the day, they don’t see their own worthy and simply act like they are lacking.

They aren’t the kind that you can advise. He is a man and who will listen to him?

Besides, they are all adults. Can’t they think for themselves?

So, when coming across a person like Diamond, who definitely understand her real worthy and loves herself, she was refreshing. He can’t help but like her and admire her.

"Russ, you ...." Penny was still at a loss, hearing Russ’s praise over another woman.

Did she just shoot herself in the foot?

Russ looked at his wife in earnest, and kindly advised her, "You are my wife and I do know that our relationship is very unusual. But let me just tell you this once. A woman who appreciates herself, loves herself and understand her own worthy is priceless. You must not expect others to love you when you don’t even love yourself," and after saying that, he shifted his focus on the tablet, getting back to work.

As for Penny, unable to retort, she simply sat there, dejected, and regretting her hasty actions.

Instead of getting what she wanted, she ended up embroidering a pillow for someone else.

She not only listened to her husband praising another woman, but she also got called petty. She could still see the way he looked at her, and it was unsettling.

Not even that, but the fact that he actually said those words to her. What was he implying?

The more she thought, the more wronged she felt.

How did it turn out this way?

She could only grumble on her own, and feeling like she didn’t have any face, she covered herself with the blanket, her back facing Russ. She couldn’t manage to face the man at all. If only earth could swallow her, she wanted to disappear from his presence. Unfortunately, there was nothing for her to do except swallow this grievance. At the same time, a surge of hatred towards Diamond increased.

If it weren’t for her, she wouldn’t be in this awkward situation.

It would be for the best if she doesn’t see Diamond ever again.

It was supposed to be a troubling night, and yet, Penny fell asleep quickly, a sheepish smile on her face as she saw Diamond suffering because of her mouth.

What a beautiful dream it was.

Meanwhile, Russ didn’t bother with what he did. After he was done with work, he left the bed, took out a cigarette and went to the balcony for a smoke.

He wasn’t a habitual smoker and yet he found himself wanting to smoke.

As he stood there, his gaze involuntarily moved towards the window of the guest bedroom that they were housing Diamond and her boyfriend. Seeing the lights still on, he found himself muttering under his breath, "what could those two be doing?" suddenly feeling curious and yet a suffocating feeling seemed to be pushing down on him.

What kind of feeling was this?
