Chapter 1226: Chapter 1226: My Aesthetic Has Always Been You
Summer Sutton ignored it, tossed her phone aside, and went to the company cafeteria with another colleague.
In the afternoon, she continued working, and as the evening approached and it was almost time to get off work, Watt Bennet sent another text: I’m waiting for you downstairs.
Summer Sutton still ignored him. When it was time to leave, she didn’t go downstairs immediately. Instead, she started working on the tasks for the next day.
She worked for two hours straight.
By the time she walked out of the company building, all the employees had already left.
She thought Watt Bennet would have left by then, considering the entire building was dark.
Her office, even if the lights were on, couldn’t be seen from Watt Bennet’s direction.
But when she walked out, unexpectedly, Watt’s car was still there, parked under a tree outside the company like it had been for the past few days.
As she walked out, the car door opened, and he stepped out.
"Working overtime?" he asked, looking at her.
Summer Sutton didn’t respond, didn’t even walk past him, she turned her head and headed straight for the bus stop.
Watt Bennet quickly drove to follow.
His car moved slowly, matching Summer Sutton’s pace.
As he drove, he tried to chat with her, "Aren’t you hungry? I’ve reserved a restaurant, let’s go together!"
Summer Sutton pretended not to hear, continuing to walk in her own world.
"You’ll have to cook when you go back anyway, isn’t it easier to eat out?" Watt continued to persuade her.
Summer Sutton acted as if he didn’t exist, continuing to walk in her own world.
Feeling helpless, Watt drove his car in front of her, blocking her path, and looked at her, seriously explaining, "What happened in the morning isn’t what you think."
Summer Sutton acted as if she didn’t hear him, and after being stopped, she simply hailed a taxi and got in.
She gave the address of Ariella Sawyer’s apartment and closed the door behind her.
"Summer!" Watt quickly followed in his car.
Worried that Summer Sutton, in her emotional state, might direct the driver to drive recklessly causing an accident, he maintained a slow speed throughout.
Whatever route the driver took, he followed behind, keeping a certain distance without causing much disturbance.
He followed her all the way to the apartment complex where Ariella lived, and when they both arrived, Summer Sutton got out and went straight in.
Fearing he might be too late and she would have already closed the door, Watt quickly followed her in.
When he reached the apartment door, Summer Sutton was just about to close it.
Without much thought, Watt shoved an arm in to stop her from closing it.
Summer Sutton didn’t bother with him, if he wanted to come in, so be it.
Abandoning the idea of closing the door, she turned and went into the kitchen.
Watt closed the door for her and followed her inside.
Watching her busy herself, Watt pondered on how best to explain things.
After a while of silence, he finally said, "Kelly Ann committed suicide."
Summer Sutton was taken aback, her fruit-cutting paused.
"This morning, I was just wondering if this incident was related to anyone else."
Summer Sutton was stunned again, clearly not expecting this to happen to Kelly Ann.
Watt ruffled her hair, comforting her, "Don’t overthink it, my aesthetic standard has always been you, whether others are beautiful is irrelevant to me."
Summer Sutton came to her senses, brushed his hand away.
Ignoring his words, she continued preparing her dinner.
"I want yesterday’s noodles," Watt said, placing his order actively.
