Chapter 1195: Chapter 1195: Mom... Where Did She Go?

Henry Hughes seems to have a special regard for the junior, Summer Sutton.

Even though it was Rain Carter who invited him, with his own daughter Lorraine Hughes sitting beside him, he spent the most time talking to Summer Sutton.

"Miss Sutton, which school did you graduate from?"

"Film Academy."

"Not bad, not bad. Has everything been smooth during your time at Royal Delight? There must be a lot of challenges when first entering society, right?" Henry Hughes asked again.

"It’s been okay, a lot of people at the company are looking out for me, and Sister Carter is really nice to me. I can usually get problems resolved." Summer Sutton said.

"That’s good then." Henry Hughes nodded and started chatting about her life, "Miss Sutton, you’re from River City. Have you gotten used to the food and living in Northtown?"

"I grew up without parents, managing everything myself, so my adaptability might be better than most girls." Summer Sutton said.

"No parents?" Henry Hughes felt a bit stunned by her words, gently swirling the teacup in his hand, seemingly lost in thought.

"No."

Henry Hughes fell silent for a while after her words, before tentatively asking, "Where did your mom go?"

This question was just a probe into Summer Sutton’s reaction.

Since birth, Summer Sutton had been a motherless child. Where her mom went, who she was, and what she was doing, no one ever told her.

She’s now over twenty, and no one claiming to be her mother has ever come looking for her.

Summer Sutton thought about it, believing the only possibility is that her mom is no longer around.

Her grandpa and dad must have kept the truth from her so she wouldn’t be sad.

Henry Hughes originally thought she would say something like her mom’s disappearance is unknown.

But unexpectedly, Summer Sutton said, "My mom is no longer around."

Henry Hughes seemed quite surprised, staring at her for a long time, not regaining his composure.

No longer around...

No longer around...

Henry Hughes felt an indescribable sense of loss, afraid of continuing the topic, lest Summer Sutton become sad, so he didn’t ask further.

Lorraine Hughes quietly listened to their conversation, her long fingers tightly gripping the teacup in her hand.

Henry Hughes stayed silent for a bit, his lips hesitating as if wanting to ask something else, but Lorraine Hughes unexpectedly interrupted, "Dad, try the breakfast here! I think it’s quite good!"

Her voice suddenly broke the silence, and Henry Hughes snapped back to reality, feeling a little embarrassed as if he just realized his own daughter was there.

Probably feeling he had ignored Lorraine Hughes too completely, he accepted the snack she offered and tasted it, then continued chatting with Lorraine Hughes.

The father and daughter chatted and laughed, the atmosphere harmonious.

The four sat together, chatting for over an hour. Because Rain Carter had to go to a program recording site later, she left the restaurant with Summer Sutton at around eleven.

In the afternoon, Summer Sutton spent the time studying at Royal Delight, and left for the villa right after work at five.

Once home, she first made a call to Watt Bennet.

"Has work been sorted out? Are you coming back tonight?"

"Want me to come back early?" Watt Bennet asked.

"You’re overthinking it. Just calling to ask so I can prepare dinner, don’t want to wait like before for hours without someone coming home." Summer Sutton scoffed.

Her voice seemed slightly disgruntled; it caught Watt Bennet’s attention for a moment.
