Chapter 1192: Chapter 1192: Not Wanting This Moment to Pass
He was being very blunt, and couldn’t care less that this was a public place and the topic was totally not suitable for kids; he said it without his expression changing at all.
Summer Sutton had already been embarrassed, and after what he said, her face burned even hotter, like it was about to catch fire.
Her gaze shifted away unnaturally as she tried hard to act like she hadn’t heard their conversation.
"Fine, whatever you say." Alexander Winslow led the two of them this way, tilted his head to give him a sidelong look, then suddenly tossed out another line, "If you ever need help, you can come to me. No need to doubt my medical skills."
His words were dripping with mockery. Watt Bennet’s face stiffened, three thousand black lines practically slashing down his forehead.
His gaze swept over sharply, and Watt spat out a single cold word at him, "Get lost!"
Alexander laughed out loud twice, in a very good mood as he got into the car first.
Watt didn’t go straight home; he headed for Shining Sky first.
He’d been away for several days, and Shining Sky needed him for every little thing. A lot had piled up, and there was a good chance he wouldn’t be sleeping tonight.
On the way upstairs, Summer clacked along behind him.
"Not going back to get some rest?" Watt turned his head to glance at her as he asked.
"I’m keeping you company!" Summer said it as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Watt’s expression faltered for a split second. After pulling his gaze back, he didn’t say anything more.
Summer walked ahead, stepping into the elevator before him.
Alexander, who was practically allergic to company management, didn’t go in with them. In the elevator, it was just Summer and Watt.
Once inside, the two of them were standing a bit apart at first.
Summer lifted her face and glanced at him from a short distance away, cleared her throat lightly, and shifted her body a little closer in his direction.
Step by step, she edged her way to his side, then deliberately acted all nonchalant as she turned her gaze elsewhere.
"Shining Sky’s doing pretty well these days." She started making small talk with him, half-serious and half-fooling around.
"Yeah." Watt responded lightly, his gaze landing on her shoulder, which was now pressed right up against his.
Summer had leaned in on purpose. She didn’t know if he was completely over his anger yet, so she was testing his reaction.
Even though they were already standing very close, her feet inched a little more his way, and she directly pressed her body against his.
Watt didn’t say anything. Whatever she did, he just let her.
Summer felt a little sweet inside. Standing together with him like this, she suddenly didn’t really want the elevator to get there so fast.
Watt, next to her, hadn’t said much this whole time.
Every so often, Summer would lift her eyes to glance at the numbers on the panel overhead.
She simply didn’t want the elevator to arrive so soon, so, pretending it was an accident, she pressed several other floor buttons.
When the elevator reached the floors she’d pressed, the doors opened, waited a bit, then closed again, over and over.
Watt turned his head and glanced at the neat row of lit numbers she’d pressed, but still didn’t say a word.
The elevator was about to arrive.
When they got to the office floor, Watt was the first to step out of the elevator.
Summer’s lips flattened in a tiny pout, and after a pause she followed behind him out.
At this hour, after work, there were hardly any people left in the office building. On the entire floor, only their footsteps echoed, one in front and one behind.
After Watt entered the office, he didn’t keep walking forward. Instead, he stopped by the door, as if he were waiting for Summer.
This side of him made Summer freeze for a moment.
Summer shuffled in awkwardly, not quite sure what was going on as she glanced at him. She was just about to head for the sofa when, without warning, Watt grabbed her by the wrist.
