Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Sounding Me Out? Heh~

Faye Yardley lay back on the sofa, watching the clouds gather and disperse through the glass ceiling. At this moment, she was completely at ease.

’After adding both free attribute points to Strength, my total Strength is now 16. The temporary point from the leaderboard will probably disappear after the next update.’

"System, open all chat channels."

The azure sky and clouds were replaced by a virtual screen hovering before her eyes.

Her eyes fell on their private group chat. As she saw them guessing whether it was her brother’s or Zachary Pierce’s raft that had reached Level 8, the corners of Faye Yardley’s mouth lifted into a slight smile.

Faye Yardley: My brother and Donovan have gone into a Dungeon.

Wade Warren: The group owner makes a rare appearance! Well, that rules out one possibility. Now to see if it was Pierce.

Leo Sloan: This heat is making me antsy. Staring at the sea for too long makes you dizzy, too. If you see any goggles for trade, you should definitely get a pair.

Kyle Lewis: Thanks for the reminder, Mr. Sloan. I couldn’t get goggles, but I do have regular sunglasses.

Bonnie Callahan: Damn, are you all that fast? I was a little too slow and could only get brown-tinted glasses. freeweɓnovel.cøm

Wade Warren: You should be grateful. At least the brown tint can block some of the glare from the sea.

Faye Yardley had honestly never considered needing goggles. ’How long has it been since I’ve properly fished for treasure chests?’ she wondered. She mulled it over for a moment before dismissing the thought entirely.

’Then again, why would I need to fish for treasure chests myself? I have people for that.’

Hehe~

Wade Warren: It’s almost been a full month. Who knows what kind of event the system will throw at us. I just hope the Otherkin don’t show up again.

Bonnie Callahan: I don’t think the Otherkin showing up was that bad. Most of them are decent and you can communicate with them. It’s not like they all just attack on sight.

Faye Yardley: Yeah, tomorrow is day 30, so the first month is almost over. Starting in July, the leaderboards will update on a fixed schedule: the 1st, 11th, and 21st of each month. For the last two days, you should think about how to boost your power. Or, if you can’t upgrade your raft’s level, adding some furniture or decorating your raft can also improve your score.

Leo Sloan: Thanks for the reminder, group owner. But this is the first official ranking after the server merge. I wonder if I can still make it into the top thousand.

Faye Yardley: Have you all reached Level 5 yet? If you haven’t, you can borrow 2000 wood from me. I’ll accept repayment in installments or a lump sum on a set date. We’ll make it official with a system contract, of course.

Kyle Lewis: Miss Yardley, I’m in. Please send me a loan contract.

Bonnie Callahan: Oh, me too, sweetie! I only need a thousand wood to upgrade.

Both Leo Sloan and Wade Warren had already reached Level Five. Even if they were short on wood, they were too embarrassed to borrow, preferring to get what they needed from the trading market.

Both men were planning to bring their families over, so they had taken Zachary Pierce’s previous advice to stockpile wood to heart.

Faye Yardley had the system draw up two loan contracts and sent one each to Kyle Lewis and Bonnie Callahan.

Once the contracts were signed and the wood was delivered, the matter was settled.

She could have easily given them the materials as a gift, but people don’t value things they get too easily. It encourages waste and might even foster laziness.

This way was much better. As long as it wasn’t free, they would feel the pressure to repay the loan.

RING RING~

Faye Yardley raised an eyebrow when she saw the caller’s name.

After a moment’s thought, she got up, left her bedroom, and went to the small second-floor living room before sitting down and accepting the call.

"Mr. Langdon, can I help you?"

As soon as she accepted the call, Logan Langdon scanned her background. She was sitting in an armchair in front of a workbench, and her surroundings were carefully arranged so nothing of the outside was visible.

"Gorgeous Yardley, and here I was thinking it was your raft that had leveled up."

Faye Yardley feigned the perfect amount of surprise. "Oh? It wasn’t you, Mr. Langdon?"

"It wasn’t. I’m calling to ask if you, Gorgeous Yardley, have any spare basic materials. I can trade other items for them."

Logan Langdon had already swept the market for materials, but it was inefficient. He wanted to run a Dungeon, but collecting the fragments was getting more and more difficult. And that woman, Eleanor Jonas, was acting like a lunatic—buying up everything in sight with no regard for cost or profit. Meanwhile, everything she sold was not only incredibly cheap but also limited to one per person.

No matter how large his team was, they could only buy one item each, which was nowhere near enough.

He had tried to make a killing in the female market with sanitary napkins, but Eleanor Jonas was selling them for far cheaper, forcing him to lower his own prices and focus on volume just to avoid taking a loss.

On top of that, the people who followed him expected a return on their investment; they wouldn’t give him everything for free.

So even with a whole team, while his income was high, his expenses were massive.

He had finally struggled his way to a Level 7 raft, only for someone to immediately hit Level 8.

Damn it all. He really wanted to let loose and curse.

Faye Yardley blinked innocently. "Mr. Langdon, what are you talking about? What spare materials could I possibly have? If I had any, wouldn’t I have upgraded my own raft? I have less than 600 wood right now, and I’m saving it for potential raft repairs during the special event tomorrow. I imagine that’s not even a rounding error for you."

"Heh. Is that so? Well, I suppose I’ll have to ask someone else then."

"Mhm. If you manage to collect a lot, Mr. Langdon, you could always sponsor me a bit. I wouldn’t take your materials for free, of course. I recently planted a batch of baby greens, and they should be ready for harvest in the next day or two."

’Vegetables?’

Logan Langdon replied instantly, "Deal. If you have extra, I’d like to trade wood for some of those baby greens."

Faye Yardley: "I’m looking forward to it. If there’s nothing else, Mr. Langdon, I’ll be hanging up now."

With a wave of her hand, Faye Yardley hung up. ’Trying to feel me out? In your dreams,’ she scoffed internally.

’Like I’m ever going to tell you how much of a game-changer the Level 8 raft is.’

Bleh~

’I wonder how my brother and Donovan are doing in the Dungeon.’

’I’m not really tired right now. Might as well go fish for some treasure chests.’

She went downstairs and outside, heading directly to the thatched shelter where Willow Yardley was fishing for treasure chests.

Hearing her footsteps, Willow Yardley turned her head. "Sister, are you all right?"

"I’m great. So? Has the raft’s transformation affected fishing for chests?"

"It has. The bite frequency seems to be higher. I’m catching more seafood in the same amount of time. As for chests, it’s too soon to tell."

"Oh, really?" Faye Yardley beamed, sitting down near her. She then took a fishing rod from her inventory and cast the line.

Seeing her sister join, Willow Yardley brought over another Ice Basin; they had no shortage of ice blocks.

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before her rod started twitching. Faye Yardley gave it a tug and reeled in a common three-eyed crab. ’Steamed crab for lunch,’ she thought.

A moment later, her special fishing rod twitched as well. She gave it a hard yank and dragged up... something Faye Yardley couldn’t even begin to identify.
