Chapter 117: Chapter 117: As Expected of the Main Wife

’Damn it. My luck really took a nosedive after I ran into Logan Langdon, didn’t it?’

Faye Yardley looked at the long-legged beauty whose eyes were blazing with fire. Her long hair began to move on its own, as if it had come alive, despite the lack of wind.

The big guy moved to shield Faye Yardley behind him and said with a smile, "Well now, if it isn’t the little Princess Melissa. Come, let me introduce you. This is my sister-in-law. Sister-in-law, this is Princess Melissa Chapman of Cephalia."

Then he added, "She’s always been very fond of the boss and wants to marry her, but the boss has never agreed."

Melissa Chapman was so furious she looked ready to burst into flames. Her silky hair transformed into a mass of octopus tentacles.

Faye Yardley peeked her head out from behind the big guy. "Hi, Princess Melissa. It’s nice to meet you. Even though the big guy calls me his sister-in-law, my relationship with Island Master Nash isn’t what you think."

The commotion naturally drew a lot of attention, but any onlookers who tried to get closer were politely blocked by the attendants.

"You think I’d believe you again?"

"Nora Nash won’t like seeing you like this. Be a dear and put those tentacles away."

The moment she heard Nora Nash wouldn’t like it, Melissa Chapman froze. She hurriedly smoothed her hair, returning it to its original state.

"How do I look now?"

Faye Yardley nodded. "Very good. Stay perfect!"

The big guy couldn’t believe a single sentence was enough to defuse Melissa Chapman. Not only that, but she was now calmly and fawningly following Faye Yardley to go eat.

The real issue was that she was incredibly attentive to Faye Yardley during the meal.

’Wait, little Octopoid princess, are you planning on being the boss’s mistress? Why are you being so respectful to the head wife?!’

The big guy didn’t believe for a second that there was nothing going on between Faye Yardley and the boss. He’d seen her riding on top of the boss with his own two eyes.

’How could that be fake?!’

’Come to think of it, the boss is quite the player. I wonder why the new missus didn’t come with her.’

’Huh...’

’Thinking about it that way, Melissa Chapman can only be the other woman.’

’So tragic for a princess of a whole country.’

Melissa Chapman pointed to the takoyaki and asked, "Do you like this? It’s super bouncy and chewy."

Faye Yardley gave her a complicated look. ’An Octopoid princess is recommending I eat octopus balls?’

’I knew this world was a little nuts, but I never thought it’d be this nuts.’

"Miss Melissa, could you tone down your natural fragrance a bit? It’s so strong I can barely smell the food."

Melissa Chapman let out a little "ah," then lowered her head and sniffed herself. "I can’t smell it. Is it really that strong?"

"Mhm. It’s very, very fragrant," Faye Yardley said, then suddenly added, "Do you think maybe... it’s because you’re so fragrant? What if Nora Nash is actually allergic to strong scents?"

Hearing this, Melissa Chapman became genuinely anxious and flustered. "Huh?! What do I do? I can’t even smell it myself!"

Faye Yardley shrugged. "Maybe you can go home and ask your elders what to do. They’ve surely been through this before and know how to handle it."

"That makes sense. I’ll go back as soon as the banquet is over."

The big guy gave Faye Yardley a deep look. ’Nicely done. As expected of the head wife. She handled such a difficult person in just a few words.’

After a sumptuous lunch, Melissa Chapman thought for a moment and asked again, "Are you really not involved with Nora Nash?"

Faye Yardley said with certainty, "Yep. Really, there’s nothing. Look into my sincere eyes. They don’t lie."

The big guy didn’t buy it, but he had to admire her ability to lie without batting an eye.

Melissa Chapman left, leaving just the big guy and Faye Yardley in the massive dining hall. frёewebnoѵēl.com

"Sister-in-law, want to get some more to eat?"

Faye Yardley thought for a moment. "How about another order of the stir-fried octopus in BBQ sauce? The octopus is fresh, right?"

The big guy gave a knowing look. "Don’t worry, I guarantee it’s fresh."

After eating and drinking her fill, Faye Yardley returned to the main hall and finally saw her brother and Zachary Pierce.

"Brother, Mr. Pierce, you two look a bit rough. Are you okay?"

Ethan Yardley said, "Do we look like anything’s wrong? We’re perfectly fine."

"We’re fine."

"Are you two hungry? The food here is pretty good. There’s a buffet-style restaurant out of this hall and past that corridor. I can take you there."

Ethan Yardley nodded. "Let’s go, then. I’m actually a little hungry."

But Zachary Pierce said, "You two go ahead. I have something else to attend to."

Faye Yardley glanced at him, nodded, and then pulled her brother away.

"Brother, did you get anything good?"

"Heh heh, I’ll give it to you when we get back," Ethan Yardley said in a low voice. "Too many people around right now. Not a good place to talk about it. Are you okay?"

"Me? I’m fine. I’ve just been eating and drinking in the hall, trading a little wood for transparent bubbles. What could possibly happen?"

"That’s good," Ethan Yardley said. "A lot of people died on that fighting stage. If I hadn’t come to my senses in time, I’m afraid I would’ve been done for, too. Just now, the attendants took away a bunch of Otherkin."

"Don’t overthink it. The ones who were helped away can probably be saved. The ones who couldn’t be saved likely never made it off the stage."

"You have a point."

Faye Yardley pulled her brother along to get something to eat.

Zachary Pierce, having received a special reward, was personally escorted away by the big guy.

Meanwhile, Logan Langdon had been dragged to the second floor by Chloe Hughes to enter the fighting stage and tackle its challenges.

Nora Nash didn’t reappear. Faye Yardley felt she had already received the best reward; this trip was truly a great success.

So, she didn’t go to press her luck any further.

Holding a glass of juice, she sat across from her brother, watching with a smile in her eyes as he devoured his food.

’This is nice. As long as she and her brother are still here, that’s all that matters.’

’Her world wasn’t very big to begin with; there wasn’t room for many people.’

’Even if you called her selfish, she would admit it.’

"You’re not eating? These beef meatballs are amazing. Try one." As Ethan Yardley spoke, he pushed a plate of assorted meatballs across the table to his sister.

Even though Faye Yardley had already eaten, she could manage a little more. Not wanting to refuse her brother’s kind gesture, she speared a meatball with her fork and popped it into her mouth.

"Delicious, right?"

"Mhm."

"I wouldn’t lie to you," Ethan Yardley said, before diving back into his own meal.

The banquet didn’t last forever. It officially began at 12:00 PM and would end at 4:00 PM.

Afterward, the small town near the docks would open up, and everyone could go there to socialize and hunt for treasures.

However, they could only stay until 10:00 PM at the latest. After that, people from The Survival World like Faye Yardley would be automatically sent back to their rafts.

Faye Yardley had no idea what would happen to the other Otherkin.

"It’s already past three. Do you want to check out the town near the docks later?"

Ethan Yardley exclaimed, "Wow, time flies. Yeah, sure. It’s been so long since I’ve eaten my fill like this."

He even let out a contented burp as he spoke.

It was a shame they couldn’t take any of the food to go, or he would have stuffed his backpack full.

He wasn’t the only one with that idea.

Faye Yardley said with amusement, "You weren’t like this before, Brother."

"Desperate times call for desperate measures," Ethan Yardley said. "Since we can’t stay here much longer, I’m going to go back to the main hall and trade for some more of those bubbles. What if I get something good?"

"Okay."

The moment they got back to the main hall, they saw Bella Dillon, covered in blood. Faye Yardley had no idea what strange karmic bond tied her to the woman.
