Chapter 309: The Feathered Serpent
After a week when Lucas was able to make the 11 Elders pledge to him to be their master, he was now standing before a divine creature, staring at the feathers of its huge and long body. He was now inside the cave at the top of Ming Mountain, which houses the Feathered Serpent. And as his presence became stronger, the more the breath of the divine beast slammed into his face, the divine beast became bothered, feeling unwell, making her wake up.
’Red eyes... white feathers... this serpent is just too unique among all the serpents I have seen in the past. Snakes should not have feathers, instead, they should have thin scales... Truly divine...’
Nonchalantly standing before her, her eyes went down, looking at Lucas. She hissed, then moved back as she shot her killing intent at him. Lucas’s reaction to it was simple; he raised his hands and gave her a calm look.
"I am not here to fight... or even have some argument with you, Feathered Serpent. I am just here to make a deal." Lucas stated in a static tone. His breath was as if creating thin mist, solemnly looking at her.
"Human... This is my first time seeing a human that has reached the Emperor Spirit Realm..." The Feathered Serpent hissed, continuing to emit her killing intent.
"Your first time...? Oh... Then, shall I say that this is my first time seeing a creature in the Immortal Realm? Ah..." Lucas paused, as he remembered Lia from what he had just said. "I forgot... I already saw one."
The Feathered Serpent didn’t immediately reply to him. She lifted her body up, staring at Lucas as if she was assessing his soul. A normal being could be drowned from her gaze, but fortunately for Lucas, a stare from someone just a realm above him didn’t matter. However, he could feel the pressure coming from her stare, which was not normal and different from the stare of a human.
The stare continued to bother Lucas, making his face wrinkle. He raised his hand in a reaction to it and blocked her access to see his cultivation base.
"Please, stop doing that. Not only does the chaotic Qi bother me, but also your gaze. I am not comfortable with it."
"You know that I am looking at your cultivation base... Funny... In my whole existence, I never met someone who could block my inspection of their cultivation base." The Feathered Serpent smirked with her thin mouth.
"It might be due to the long years of your slumber... It must have been a thousand years." Lucas calmly responded.
The more the conversation became long, the more she looked at it as a joke. She couldn’t believe that someone who broke her slumber just stood before her, casually talking as if they knew each other, and her whole existence couldn’t accept it.
’A human who has the confidence to talk to me casually... I can’t accept this rudeness!’
"Oh please... Don’t react that way... I already said that I am not here to fight, so if I offended you in some way, I ask for forgiveness..."
Lucas bowed to her, lowering his gaze to the ground. This action made the Feathered Serpent confused but vigilant. That made her mind process fast enough to react to the encounter.
"Then why are you here, human?"
"I am here to recruit you under me... Fight with me against the Northern Continent. So, instead of asking you for a fight, I want you to be my ally."
Suddenly, after Lucas said it, the atmosphere changed. The killing intent she had become stronger. She was determined to kill Lucas, but Lucas nonchalantly swayed his hands at her, creating a barrier for him from the violent pressure that was directly shot at him.
The Feathered Serpent became angrier. She raised her killing intent so much that it could even rival Lucas’s barrier. Lucas, as an action to it, strengthened the barrier with another layer of it. He then smirked at her.
"Why are you so pressed? I just said that I am here to make you my ally, so, why do you have to react like that?" freeweɓnovel.cѳm
"Human, you don’t know how much I despise your species. You pushed me to hibernate, and I will surely kill your species."
"Oh... That is reasonable. If I was just suddenly offered to fight against someone without context, I would react the same as you."
"I am not joking! Don’t even think that I will even listen to your request."
Lucas raised an eyebrow. "Oh, I am not saying that it is a request; this is a word from me as the next Ambassador of the Mortal Heaven. It is for the peace of this Heaven."
The Feathered Serpent ended the killing intent, but her snake face became solemn. The red eyes she had become darker, staring at the rocky ground of the cave.
"Peace... But you have to use me to fight the Northern Continent."
Lucas smiled as he saw how the Feathered Serpent calmed down.
’Is she perhaps giving it a thought? I didn’t know the personality the Feathered Serpent has, but I guess she is not that hard to talk to like other humans...’
However, Lucas’s assessment was flawed. The Feathered Serpent smiled as she turned into a human form with a solemn and mad face.
The feathers she had started to disappear, and her form started to change. A human figure appeared from her and a fair-skinned lady came out of the Feathered Serpent. Soon, the Feathered Serpent turned to her human form, and it exposed her fairy features. Her white hair, thin lips, and deep eyes reflected in Lucas’s eyes as she stared at her. This could make any human enchanted.
But now, the killing intent had returned, fiercer than before. The barrier that Lucas set was destroyed, making him react to it. Lucas then created another barrier, but it was still destroyed.
’Wow... She is really angry... She can even destroy my barrier with mere killing intent. I guess my barrier that has no affinity was that weak. How about I put some darkness affinity to it?’
"Human, I want to ask again, why did you come here? Do you think that I will really believe in you and that you will make me your ally? That is absurd; no one has ever asked me that since the beginning of my existence."
Lucas scoffed, then created a barrier from his darkness affinity. It was now much stronger that it withstood the Feathered Serpent’s killing intent.
"That was true. I came here to make you my ally. But that is for the peace of Mortal Heaven. It is also my wish, as the incoming Ambassador of the Mortal Heaven, but I just have to own all four continents. Now, I have two continents in my hands and half of the Northern Continent. Do you think that is not an interesting course to take?"
"You woke me up from my slumber! Do you think I will just be your ally?!"
"You are beautiful, you know that?" As he looked at how the fairy features the Feathered Serpent became angry. It was cute for him, instead of being scary. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"Shut up! Human, I guess that I have to fix your brain. You don’t know the weight of your words. It is absurd that I will listen to you!"
A feather appeared out of the slender and jade arms of the Feathered Serpent. It was white and the size of an average book, but it was coated with hostile energy, similar to the chaotic Qi in the surroundings. And as it suddenly appeared in her hands, she threw it at Lucas, making a crack in the shadow barrier he created.
This piqued Lucas’s interest. Indeed, that Feathered Serpent was strong for his shadow barrier to be easily cracked. However, it was not enough to be destroyed. Lucas reinforced the barrier and acted more arrogant in front of her.
"This... I am a human, but don’t you think this is humiliating? A divine beast like you couldn’t even destroy a barrier made of a human. Forget about it, just be my ally and let’s defeat the Northern Continent together."
"Human, you don’t understand me, huh. I won’t let myself be used for another human affair. I am different from the rest of the divine beasts. It is even fortunate for you that I didn’t proceed with killing you. I can kill you right now, as well as the people on this continent, and I will continue to kill everyone. The strongest humans have already perished. I can return the favor to every human."
Lucas could only shake his head.
’I guess it is wrong to confuse her. I didn’t think that the Feathered Serpent was stubborn and focused on her mindset, which makes the confusion useless... But now, I guess I should just defeat her here...? No... I just have to wait for more until she creates the sign that I have to clash with her.’ He clenched his fist.
"You said you don’t want to be used for another human affair, right? But, this case will be different since you will witness a creation of an ambassador."
"I am not interested!"
