Chapter 93: Mistake 13
"Adventurer Sameer, I apologize for wasting your precious time. To compensate for that, here’s an old book of mine that I kept regarding my research of herbs and recipes."
System: Congratulations to Adventurer Sameer for opening the relationship with Herbalist Asim!
In Divine World, the relationship was a notable feature, enabling players to establish various levels of relationship with NPCs. freewebnσvel.cøm
NPC relationships typically began at Neutral, progressing through stages such as Amicable, Friendly, Trusted, Loyal and Affectionate as players interacted more positively.
Conversely, there were also negative stages, including Tensed, Strained, Hostile, and Enemy, reflecting deteriorating relationships.
However, one must keep in mind that only certain NPCs in the Divine World would have relationships, others will only have favorability. After all, these certain NPCs have a high impact on the Divine World. frёewebnoѵēl.com
And it was precisely because of this fact that Kashif was taking his time carefully in interacting with Herbalist Asim, an NPC who would have a large impact in the latter stages of the game.
Glancing at the relationship feature being activated, Kashif inspected the status listed with Herbalist Asim calmly.
Relationship Status with NPC: Herbalist Asim
Current Relationship Level: Amicable
Recent Interactions:
-Completed a generous trade with Herbalist Asim.
-Engaged in a friendly conversation about herbalism.
Notes:
-Herbalist Asim seems to appreciate your assistance and values your knowledge of herbalism.
-Continued positive interactions may lead to further improvement in relationship level.
’As expected, trading rare recipes like this at the start has directly increased the relationship level from Neutral to Amicable.’ Kashif was pleased with the result.
Increasing a relationship level was not an easy feat to achieve as it could take at least a month or more to gain the NPCs’ trust.
"Although it’s quite unfortunate that our discussion would have to come short, I hope Adventurer Sameer can explain now what he required."
Asim said.
Sameer was just waiting for this time, because he knew what kind of person, the later Herbalist or it preferred to be called Alchemist Asim, will become.
He became the Legendary Alchemist. And a player, in the beginning became close friends with Asim, because of this he got the magical stone from Asim.
And later he became a renowned Alchemist and Blacksmith.
And that the stone was Philosopher Stone.
It was a sacred item for Alchemy. If Alchemists could obtain the Philosopher’s Stone, then they would have the ability to transform stone into gold, amassing immense wealth. They would even be able to revive the dead, breaking the alchemy law of equivalent exchange.
Who would have thought such a sacred item would be placed in the hands of Herbalist Asim, who did not even care about it.
The earlier he obtained the Philosopher’s Stone; the earlier his heart could be at ease. If he waited until he was Level 7 or 8, someone else might claim the item. He wouldn’t even be able to feel regret when that time came.
"Herbalist Asim, I want one of your precious things, and this is the Philosopher’s Stone."
Hearing it, Asim became shocked. He was not shocked that Kashif wants the Philosopher’s Stone.
But he was shocked because Kashif knew he had the Philosopher’s Stone.
"You really amazed me, adventurer Sameer," Asim said, then he waved his hands, and a beautiful thumb-sized blood-red stone appeared on the table.
Such action would normally cause confusion to those who had never witnessed this scene before, but Kashif already knew what kind of ring Asim was wearing.
In simple terms, it was a magic ring that had a large dimension space to store a large quantity of items. It could be said to be a similar concept to a player having their inventory and storage capacity.
And given that NPCs don’t have a personal inventory of their own, most would love to own a magic ring for themselves.
Unfortunately, a magic ring cost too much to make and the technique for creating one seemed to have been lost already.
Hence, the scarcity of a magic ring and the reason why there are still jobs available for people to deliver goods from far away.
"It seems like Adventurer Sameer is indeed extraordinary." Asim complimented, having noticed there were little to zero reactions from him when he brought out the Philosopher Stone from his ring.
"You flatter me too much, Herbalist Asim." Kashif shook his head and politely refused the compliment. "Only a person of your stature could use such a magic ring."
Asim nodded his head, he also put a pouch on the table, "This is yours. I have some business to do. You are free to use this room as you please. Receptionist Sandy would assist you if you need help with something."
He said and subsequently bid him farewell.
As soon as Asim exited the room, Kashif took the pouch and the blood-red stone that was on the table and glanced at the money he was given.
’300 silver coins... Asim sure is a generous man.’ Kashif was satisfied, having felt like he had earned a lottery. With the Philosopher’s Stone, he also gets the 300 silver coins, which he even did not expect.
At the current stage of the game, players were only given 10 copper coins to start with.
Copper coins are the lowest value of the currency, followed by silver coins, and then gold coins. 100 copper coins are worth 1 silver coin, and 100 silver coins are worth 1 gold coin.
To summarize, this trade alone had earned Kashif a grand total of 3 gold coins, but that wasn’t even the most valuable one. Instead, the most valuable thing is Philosopher’s stone.
"Crap, how could the Philosopher’s Stone end up in such a state?" But after looking at the thumb-sized blood-red stone, Kashif felt extremely disappointed.
[Philosopher’s Stone] (Damaged)
Epic-rank Special Item (Dropped after death)
A sacred item for Alchemy, the Philosopher’s Stone can be used to turn stone into gold, revive the dead, and has many more unfathomable uses.
However, the Philosopher’s Stone was damaged and broken into five pieces by the Sword Emperor Usman.
Nevertheless, the Philosopher’s Stone possesses immense strength. As long as the five pieces are gathered, it will be able to recover all of its strength.
Active Effect: Due to being damaged, the Philosopher’s Stone possesses less than a tenth of its original strength. It is only possible to use it for Alchemy Conversion and Elemental Refinement.
Although the effects were greatly reduced, Kashif was still satisfied with it. These two abilities would enable Kashif to accomplish a lot.
And now, he also understood why Asim didn’t value the Philosopher’s Stone.
Because in front of Asim’s talent, the Philosopher’s Stone was not valuable. If this was the complete Philosopher Stone, then that would be different things.
Putting the coins in his inventory, Kashif instantly became the wealthiest player currently in Divine World.
Who else but him could possibly possess 3 gold coins at the moment?
As Kashif was starting to get lost in his own world, Receptionist Sandy became concerned and asked from the side, "Um, are you okay, Adventurer Sameer?"
"Ah, yes, what’s the matter?" He snapped out of his daze and turned to her, raising his brows.
"I’m just wondering if you are still going to use this room," Sandy said with a somewhat awkward tone, her eyes glancing at the clock.
"Right, you still have to work in the lobby." Kashif was able to understand her predicament.
"You can just leave me be and take this as thanks for your assistance." He added, giving her 5 copper coins.
Sandy was initially stunned by the generosity of Kashif and wanted to decline his money, but Kashif insisted on her taking it.
"You helped me tremendously by connecting me with someone like Herbalist Asim. Hence, this money is well deserved and you shouldn’t feel any guilt in accepting it." He said, practically shoving the money to her face.
Without a choice, Sandy could only reluctantly accept the money. Though her acting needed some improvement since Kashif could tell she was excited.
After repeatedly thanking him, Sandy promptly exited the room, leaving him alone.
As the door closed, Kashif breathed out a sigh of relief. Sandy might not have been a candidate for the relationship status, but she was still a receptionist nevertheless in the Town Hall.
Having an amicable relationship with her would only prove useful in the future.
After all, just because an NPC doesn’t have a relationship status doesn’t mean they won’t have an impression toward a player.
In fact, these NPCs are usually difficult to deal with because players have no information about them, meaning they could only try their best to increase the invisible relationship with them.
Thus, by generously tipping Sandy with 5 copper coins, Kashif was investing in her and wasn’t actually being a philanthropist.
"This unexpected haul is really a good feeling." He muttered, having completed at least 60 percent of his current goal, albeit with some alterations due to some mishaps.
Despite the mishaps, Kashif was rather glad of this development. The gain from this unexpected development was definitely superior to his original goal.
