Chapter 148: Chapter 148: Wangyou Milk Tea’s Returning Customers

They had specifically chosen a Saturday for the grand opening. Yun Zijin didn’t have any spending tasks to complete and was so relaxed she even ate an extra half-bowl of rice.

After they had eaten and drunk their fill, Yun Zijin drove Qin Sitong back to Jade Lake (she hadn’t had any alcohol).

"You can sleep here tonight. If you need anything, just tell Aunt Wang. And don’t forget about hiring."

Since Qin Sitong would be managing the shop, Yun Zijin wanted her to make the final decisions on hiring.

Any new hires had to be people Qin Sitong could get along with; otherwise, they’d just end up being troublemakers in the shop.

"Don’t worry! I’ve got this."

Qin Sitong had already decided what kind of people she wanted to hire.

A willingness to work hard was essential, and good character was another key point she’d be looking for.

They also couldn’t have nail art or long fingernails, and there could be absolutely no dirt under their nails, and so on.

These employees would be working primarily with Qin Sitong, and since she said she had it covered, Yun Zijin didn’t press the matter.

「The next day, Sunday.」

Yun Zijin slept until she woke up naturally. A glance at the clock told her it was six-thirty.

Yun Zijin lay in bed with her eyes open for a moment before climbing out to wash up and start her skincare routine.

When Yun Zijin emerged from her room, Qin Sitong wasn’t up yet. But since their milk tea shop didn’t open until 10:00 a.m., it was perfectly normal for her to still be asleep.

"Miss! The kitchen isn’t finished with breakfast yet. It will be about another twenty minutes."

Yun Zijin didn’t usually wake up this early. Wang Minli had scheduled breakfast preparation for Yun Zijin’s usual wake-up time. As a result, even though Yun Zijin was awake, her breakfast wasn’t ready.

But Yun Zijin wasn’t the type to get worked up over such things. She sat on the living room sofa, picked up the tablet from the coffee table, and started streaming a show.

Wang Minli poured Yun Zijin a glass of warm milk, then hurried into the kitchen to check on their progress.

The lady of the house was awake, yet the kitchen hadn’t even finished preparing breakfast. Wang Minli swore to herself, ’This is absolutely the most elementary mistake I’ve made in my entire housekeeping career.’

Yun Zijin was oblivious to the turmoil in Wang Minli’s mind. She selected a show, placed the tablet on the coffee table, propped it up with its stand, and sank into the sofa to begin watching.

Fortunately, the kitchen always did some prep work in advance. In a little over ten minutes, but not quite twenty, the chef had Yun Zijin’s breakfast ready.

Wang Minli entered the dining room with a maid, carrying the breakfast. "Miss, the kitchen has prepared your breakfast."

"Mm, you can go attend to your own things. You don’t need to worry about me."

Even though Wang Minli had served her breakfast, Yun Zijin knew she had likely been busy since waking up and probably hadn’t eaten yet herself.

"Yes, Miss!"

With that, Wang Minli led the maids out of the dining room.

Yun Zijin was halfway through her breakfast when Qin Sitong finally emerged from her room.

The moment she saw Yun Zijin already eating in the dining room, Qin Sitong quickened her steps.

"No need to rush. There’s plenty of time for you to eat breakfast."

Seeing Qin Sitong hurry, Yun Zijin quickly called out to her.

After finishing breakfast, Yun Zijin drove Qin Sitong toward the Wangyou Milk Tea Shop.

However, as they approached the Wangyou Milk Tea Shop, they saw a large crowd gathered in front of their store.

"Isn’t that our milk tea shop? What’s going on?"

Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong stared at the sea of people ahead, feeling a bit intimidated.

"Hold on, I’ll have Zero One and the others go check it out."

Yun Zijin pulled into a parking spot but didn’t get out. Instead, she made sure all the doors and windows were shut before taking out her phone to call Zero One.

Zero One answered instantly. The next second, Yun Zijin saw him and his team get out of their van and head toward the crowd in front of the Wangyou Milk Tea Shop.

A few moments later, Zero One emerged from the crowd.

Yun Zijin lowered the car window, looking at Zero One as he approached. "What’s the situation?"

"Miss, I’ve asked. They’re all here to buy Wangyou Milk Tea."

"They didn’t know what time the Wangyou Milk Tea Shop opened, so some people have been waiting since 6:00 a.m."

It was now 10:00, which meant they had been waiting for four hours.

Neither Yun Zijin nor Qin Sitong had expected people to be this crazy for Wangyou Milk Tea.

"In a minute, help Tongtong and me clear a path so we can get inside."

The crowd was so thick, you wouldn’t dare make eye contact with anyone, let alone try to talk your way through.

"Of course, Miss."

Zero One had already planned to do so, even without Yun Zijin’s order.

Under the protection of Zero One and his seven-person team, Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong successfully made it into the Wangyou Milk Tea Shop unharmed.

"Everyone! If you’d like to buy Wangyou Milk Tea, please form a line over here."

"We’re just getting started for the day, so we still need to prep a lot of things. We’re sorry, but you’ll have to wait a little longer."

Yun Zijin did her best to speak to the customers in what she hoped was a gentle voice.

"Don’t worry, ladies, just work at your own pace! We’re not in a hurry!"

Anyone willing to line up at 6:00 a.m. was bound to be extremely patient.

"That’s right, just work at your own pace. Once you’ve taken our orders, you don’t have to worry about us."

"It’s not a workday, we can stay here all day long! Don’t you ladies rush!"

...

Voices piped up from the crowd every now and then. Thankfully, they were all friendly. Otherwise, Yun Zijin felt her pleasant expression might have cracked.

Yun Zijin turned on the computer at the register and quickly took the order of the first person in line.

Meanwhile, Qin Sitong was in the back, working nonstop to prepare the Wangyou Milk Teas and other drinks the customers had ordered.

Once all the orders were in, Yun Zijin checked with Qin Sitong to see which order number she was on before they began preparing the Wangyou Milk Tea for the next person in the queue.

"Hey, ladies! You’re finally here! I came by yesterday a few minutes after six, but you were already closed."

"I made sure to come extra early today!"

The speaker was a fairly young man. Though his voice and tone made him sound like a cheerful, outgoing guy,

Yun Zijin noticed a thick callus on the web of his hand, between his thumb and forefinger.

An ordinary person, even a lifelong manual laborer, wouldn’t develop a callus like that in that particular spot.

’These are... the hands of someone who’s held a gun!’

With this suspicion, a hundred and eight different possibilities flashed through Yun Zijin’s mind. But after saying his piece, the young man fell silent.

Even if Yun Zijin wanted to find out more, there was no way to do so.

However, the young man showed no malice. Yun Zijin felt a flicker of suspicion, but she didn’t dwell on it for long.

After all, while the Wangyou Milk Tea did have a special property, the most it did was help people recall happy memories. It had no other effects.

When the young man received his Wangyou Milk Tea, Yun Zijin noticed he left with it, not even taking a sip after he stepped outside.

Yun Zijin narrowed her eyes. ’Nothing bad will happen, right?’

"What’s wrong?"

They had mostly worked through the morning’s explosive rush of orders. Seeing Yun Zijin staring into space, Qin Sitong asked the question.
