Chapter 383: Chapter 383: Leona Grant, Cannot Be Without Annabelle Linton 7

Hearing this, Annabelle Linton suddenly turned around.

When Leona Grant saw her turn, he froze for a moment. Then, a spark of hope ignited in his heart, and he raised the corners of his mouth in anticipation. "Please, eat a little. Madam King made you..."

"You’re so annoying."

Annabelle Linton stared at him, cutting him off before he could finish.

An unexpected sting pierced Leona Grant’s heart.

Her eyes were devoid of any emotion, chillingly clear as she indifferently spoke those three words, and nothing more.

But it was just three words, without any particular emphasis, yet they pierced his heart like a needle.

He knew he was annoying.

He also knew she would find him annoying.

Leona Grant paused, then deliberately ignored her words. Putting on a thick-skinned, fawning smile, he said, "No matter what, you still have to eat. Come on, I won’t bother you."

Looking at his eager-to-please, smiling face made Annabelle Linton feel incredibly irritated.

It was true.

If you liked someone, you’d be happy even if they just glanced at you. But if you hated someone, you wouldn’t feel a thing even if they plucked the stars from the sky for you; in fact, you’d just find it annoying.

That was exactly how Annabelle Linton felt right now. She furrowed her brow and said impatiently, "There’s no need."

Leona Grant just smiled again, his temper seemingly perfect. He said coaxingly, "How could there be no need? You haven’t eaten all day. I brought you food. If you eat it now, you’ll reduce your chances of getting stomach problems. Isn’t that necessary?"

Annabelle Linton didn’t speak, just watched him with a detached gaze.

Leona Grant took out the food and began to set it up. "Everything made today is your favorite. Madam King made it all herself, I didn’t help at all. If you don’t want to eat anything I’ve made, that’s fine. You can at least eat a little of what Madam King made."

Annabelle Linton closed her eyes and said with even more irritation, "You really are so annoying."

Leona Grant pressed his lips together, looking at her.

"Since you’re so concerned about my health, and I don’t want to see you, can you leave now?"

"I’ll leave after you eat. Between your health and your mood, I think your health is more important."

"I’ll eat. You don’t need to worry about it!" freewebnoveℓ.com

"The food from outside isn’t clean, so don’t eat it. I’ll only be at ease once I see you eat. I just want to do something for you. Don’t worry, I’ll leave as soon as you’re done."

Annabelle Linton stared at him blankly for a moment before letting out a scoff. Then, out of nowhere, she said, "What am I going to do?"

Leona Grant watched her with concern. Even though she hadn’t said much yet, he felt a strange, preemptive ache in his heart for what she was about to say. "Annabelle..."

"This version of you is just disgusting."

Annabelle Linton leaned lazily against the nearby wall, ignoring whatever he was about to say. A sarcastic smile played on her lips, her eyes like ice. "Leona Grant, I’d rather you treat me like you used to."

"That’s right. With that look you’d give an enemy—the way you’d look at a shameless, brazen piece of trash with no dignity or ambition, someone so pathetic they had no bottom line.

"Treating every word to me as a waste of time, every glance as a contamination of your eyes, every sound I made as utterly disgusting, and everything I did as shameful and laughable."

"Really, you should just stick with that. The you from back then..."

She gave a small laugh. "He was honestly so handsome—cold, domineering, abstinent, and impossibly arrogant, exuding your lofty, inviolable, aristocratic air. I hope you can go back to treating me like that. No, even worse would be fine. As long as you’re not disgusting like you are now. Honestly, I might even admire you then."

He’d been slapped in the face again.

A swift, violent pang of pain shot through his heart. Leona Grant didn’t know what to say, only numbly and subconsciously muttering, "I’m sorry..."
