What was left were two eggs. Ash grey eggs. Leonel had never seen anything like them. It looked like they were made from ashes that the boys had left behind. He could even see some esoteric patterns that looked like they were created with smouldering embers from time to time. The patterns became more and more frequent.
The patterns stopped flashing and stayed. Finally, a crack appeared on the eggs. The eggs started shaking. The shaking intensified, and suddenly an arm poked out from one egg. Then an arm poked out of the second egg.
He thought back to what the boys had said. The skill Phoenix Resurgence allowed them to come back to life. It was the weakened version of Nirvana, a skill possessed by the mythical creature Phoenix. ’Come back to life...metamorphosis through death and rebirth...’
As he continued to look at those patterns, Leonel fell into a trance. For some reason, instead of birds like the Phoenix, this reminded him of caterpillars. The Immortal Silkworms in particular. Immortal Silkworms, despite their impressive name, were mere F Grade creatures. Similar to slimes, they were at the bottom of the food chain.
But unlike slimes, which everybody assumed were trash, humans had extensively studied Timeless Silkworms. This was due to a peculiar trait that they had. When they reach the pupal stage, they die. Their bodies turn into eggs with the DNA being identical to them. In other words, clones.
Then these eggs hatch, become larvae, then pupae, and then, they also die. This process keeps on continuing. They were named Immortal Silkworms because the scientists who studied them felt that this process of cloning was an alternate form of immortality.
Some tried injecting their bloodline but it was too weak and didn’t have any effect. Still, this species was domesticated because of the high quality silk that they produced. Leonel had also studied them. He had even written many papers on them and owned one of the largest Immortal Silkworm farms in the Federation. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Until now, there has never been an Immortal Silkworm that evolved into an Immortal Silkmoth. There had been many speculations about the Immortal Silkmoth. One of them being that it would be truly immortal. Whenever it would be at death’s door, it would form a chrysalis around itself and be reborn as an Immortal Silkworm.
The shaking of the eggs intensified even more. Suddenly, a pair of wings burst out from both eggs. They blasted away the eggshells and revealed the boys. The boys were confused for a second but quickly came back to their senses. Their bloodline aura was released with wild abandon.
Every Angel and Demon alive once again felt the same crippling fear that they had a year ago. Except this time, it was even worse. It was as if an organism with the sole purpose of hunting them had been born. Their higher ups tried their best to find the source of this fear but were unable to.
The Angels and Demons in Zeke’s lab rejoiced instead of succumbing to the fear. They knew that their Supreme Gods had become even more glorious than before. They kneeled as they shouted devoutly, "SUPREME GODS!" The boys’ Totem flashed on their foreheads as their expressions became even more fanatic
Back at the lab, the boys looked at Leonel and sensed that something weird was going with him. Leonel managed to break out of his trance for a split second and took out a silver pearl from his storage ring. He crushed the pearl and returned to the trance.
Right now he felt like he had become an Immortal Silkworm. His life force began fluctuating. Sometimes it would rise, then it would fall. This went on for a while and it finally settled. Somewhat. The boys were able to sense Leonel’s life force at that moment, and they were shocked. They sensed that he was about to die and was just taking his last breath.
His mana surged out of his body and turned into fine threads. These threads began wrapping themselves around him. When the threads had formed a cocoon, they hardened. The boys were unsure as to what they should do.
So, they first put on some clothes. Then, they checked the formations in the lab and fortunately, they were still running. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to ensure his safety. Just as they were about to take a breath of relief, the outline of a gate appeared in the space in front of them.
A few moments ago, in a secret chamber somewhere,
A handsome man with silver hair was standing in front of a huge stone with his eyes closed. He was moving his hands and if someone witnessed him, they would think that he was crazy. The strange thing was, with each stroke that his hands made, a piece of the stone would fall off. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open and the stone turned into dust.
A wild killing intent burst out of him. His eyes glowed and he made a motion as if he was opening a door. The outline of a door appeared in front of him and the door opened. He stepped through the door expecting enemies but was instantly dumbfounded. In front of him stood a pair of twins. Now, he wasn’t a weirdo or something but the only way he could describe the boys was with the word ’beautiful’.
He saw that one of the boy’s expressions changed and became extremely respectful. He put his right fist on his heart and said, "I greet the Supreme Commander." His brother became extremely shocked. He elbowed his brother who then repeated the action.
The man nodded and remembered what the old man had told him. He thought to himself, ’These boys must be the lost descendants.’
That meant that they were basically family. Especially considering the old man’s affection for them. He still remembered how excited he had sounded when the old man was telling him about them. He nodded towards the boys.
"You must be Ezekiel and Castiel. The old man, cough, I mean Uncle Leo has told me a lot about you. No need for the formalities, you guys can just call me Uncle Dean. Now tell me, where is he? I received a distress signal from him."
The boys pointed at the huge emerald chrysalis. His eyes followed their fingers. He first looked at the chrysalis. Then, he looked at them as if he was asking if they were sure. The boys nodded. He massaged his forehead and felt a headache coming on.
"Tell me everything."
Cass remained silent but Zeke asked doubtfully, "Everything? You sure?"
After hearing Zeke’s tone, Dean could tell that it was gonna be a long story.
"Let us return to your house first."
He handed him a silver pearl and asked him to think about his house before crushing it. Zeke did as he was told. He pictured his lab and crushed the pearl. The pearl turned into dust, which then formed the outline of a gate in the space in front of him. Dean produced three more pearls. As soon as he brought the pearls close to the gate, three slots appeared on it. He inserted the pearls into the slots and the size of the gate tripled.
He opened the gate and signalled the boys to go through it. Then, he picked up the chrysalis and followed them. After he entered, the gate disappeared. The boys were very surprised by the miraculous skill because they had reached the lab. Dean appeared from the gate with the chrysalis and the gate disappeared.
He looked around and commented, "Nice lab." As if sensing their arrival, an Angel appeared. His name was Mael. He was one of the most devout fanatics. Seeing the Angel, Dean was about to take action but was stopped by Mael’s actions.
After seeing the boys, Mael kneeled and said, "I greet the Supreme Gods. May I have the honour of speaking in your holy presence?"
Zeke put on an arrogant expression and nodded.
"I and my brethren were blessed to feel your glorious presence earlier. The next batch for the experiments is ready."
Zeke didn’t say anything and just stared at him. He also released a subtle amount of his bloodline aura. Sensing the aura, a smile appeared on Mael’s face as if he had received a great gift. He bowed and left. Dean on the other hand was speechless. Did he just witness an angel calling the boys ’Supreme Gods’? And what was that pious expression? He had many questions.
"What the hell was that? You need to tell me everything. Now."
Zeke looked at him strangely. It wasn’t that Dean had done something wrong. He just felt that he should record his origin story so that he wouldn’t have to repeat it so many times. But, he also knew how dangerous that could be.
"First, put the chrysalis down. Then we’ll go to the house. We need to tell our family that we have returned and also introduce you to them. Finally, we’ll talk. If that is fine with you."
Dean nodded and put the chrysalis down and created a space barrier around it. Then he followed the boys to the house. The boys entered and texted Alexi that they were home and had brought an important guest. They would usually just shout, but they didn’t want to disturb Katherine if she was resting.
Alexi texted that he would be down in a minute. In the meantime, the boys led Dean to the living room. Alexi came down and as soon as he saw Dean, he froze. He put his right fist on his heart and said, "General Alexi Ivanovich, Sir!"
He then looked at Zeke, his eyes asking what he had done this time. Zeke shook his head indicating that he hadn’t done anything. Dean said, "At ease General. We’re not in the army right now. Besides, I’m not here as the Supreme Commander."
Alexi relaxed a little and asked, "Would you like some tea?"
Dean nodded and Alexi went into the kitchen. He could have ordered a maid but could sense that the boys and Dean needed some space. After he went away, Dean looked at the boys. The boys looked at each other and then at Dean. They looked like they were waiting for something. After a few minutes, Dean understood what was going on and took a System Oath.
The old man had told him that the boys wouldn’t say a word until he took the Oath. The boys smiled. Zeke suddenly became serious and asked, "How much has Grandpa told you?"
"Not much. Although he did emphasise that you were a troublemaker and if you ever said something about a plan, I should run. So, you should just tell me everything." freewebnøvel.coɱ
Cass covered his mouth, trying to control his laughter while Zeke looked like he had eaten a mosquito. He then told Dean everything, from his regression to their latest endeavour.
Dean was patient and didn’t interrupt. But the more he listened, the more his shock grew. When Zeke finished, Dean had started doubting life.
He said, "So let me get this straight. You were the smartest person in the Federation and died when we lost. Then you somehow regressed, evolved into a natural predator..."
Dean went on until he had covered all the highlights in Zeke’s life. Zeke just grinned and replied, "Yes." Dean was speechless for a moment before he said, "I’m not sure if I want to hug you or beat you up. I mean there should be a limit to how overpowered you can be."
Zeke just replied, "There is. And we just reached ours, at least for some time. Now we need to develop our existing abilities before we can even think about another massive power up."
Dean was about to speak but his expression suddenly changed. He said, "Something’s up with the old man."
He grabbed the boys and the trio disappeared in a flash of silver light. They appeared in the lab. Dean let go of the boys who immediately ran towards the bathroom and hurled. They came back a few minutes later and said, "Let’s never do that again."
They looked at the chrysalis. It had lost its previous emerald colour and was now a dull green. The most confusing part was that it had shrunk a lot. It slowly fell apart and what was revealed was a cute and chubby baby boy. He had a tuft of dark green, almost black hair on his head and the cutest emerald green eyes. The trio felt their brains short circuiting.
But Cass gathered the courage and asked with doubt evident in his voice, "Gr-Grandpa?"
The baby replied with his head slightly tilting, "Gu?"
