Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Crazy F*cker

Zeke woke up after 12 hours feeling hungry. He got up from his bed. He could only assume that either Leonel or Cass had carried him there. He went downstairs and had some food. After that, he started assessing his gains. First of all, his body had become much stronger than before. But that was still secondary. His most precious gain was the completion of the technique.

He had been right. Activating Insatiable Thirst had freed his thought process from its previous constraints. What he hadn’t realized, was the weight of the shackles that he had voluntarily put on himself in the form of his inhibitions. The inhibitions didn’t only include the safety of others but also himself.

When he had activated Insatiable Thirst and Battle Machine, he had entered another realm. With Leonel’s help, he had transcended his mortal limits for a minute or so. Although it was only a minute and a half in real-time, it was much more for him. The activation had altered his perception of time. After going through his large reserves of data, he finally found a way forward.

It turned out that they had taken the wrong step with the concept of external conduits. According to his deductions, even though external conduits could play an auxiliary role in cultivation, they needed internal conduits to stabilise them. Otherwise, they would only result in the Vessels exploding from the strain.

They had to create two sets of internal conduits. One for Body and Mana Vessels, and the other for Soul and Mana Vessels. They didn’t need to create a third set for Mana Vessel due to the special features of the Celestial Trinity Racial Trait.

He called Leonel and Cass to the lab and shared his findings with them.

Cass asked, "Have you created the technique?"

"Not exactly. After I came to this conclusion, I optimized my thought process to focus on these questions; how to create the conduits, where inside our bodies to create the conduits, and from what will the conduits be created from.

Fortunately, I got the answer for all of them."

"Really?"

Although he had already expected it, Leonel was still shocked. This was a problem that left even him lost. The fact that a little brat had succeeded left him feeling complicated and proud at the same time. After all, the little brat was his descendant. And, he also knew that the answer was going to be something very ridiculous.

"Really. But it is going to be dangerous and painful. Very painful "

"When is it not? Now enough with the suspense. Just tell us already."

"First, we have to create the blueprints of the conduits. That will be fairly simple. Grandpa just needs to do the same thing he did with the angel and create a map of our blood circulatory system. We can easily modify that to our needs. We need to design two of them. They’ll mostly be the same, the main difference being that one will connect the Mana Centre to the heart, and the other will connect the Mana Centre with the Origin Soul."

"But what will we use to create the conduits?"

"We need to use one of our Innate Skills for that. Divine Synthesis. We need to merge our affinities to create the conduits."

"But objects made up of materialised mana will dissipate after some time unless one constantly pours mana into them. You guys don’t have that much mana."

"That’s why we also need to use Faith to materialise it permanently. Now listen carefully because this is important. Both sets of conduits are divided into three parts. Connectors, Arteries, and Veins. Negative Connectors are the conduits that connect the Mana Centre to the heart/Origin Soul. Arteries are the conduits that supply mana to the Body/Soul Vessels. Veins are the conduits that take the leftover mana back to the heart/Origin Soul. Then the leftover mana is returned and absorbed back into the mana centre through the Positive Connectors. All of them have a specific combination of affinities that they need to be created from."

Zeke then picked up a marker and started writing on a whiteboard.

Path of Mana: Mana Centre=>Negative Connectors=> Heart/Origin Soul=> Arteries=> Vessels=> Veins=> Heart/ Origin Soul=> Positive Connectors=> Mana Centre

Body and Mana Conduits:

Negative Connectors- Lunar Shadow, Stellar Fire, and Soul + Faith.

Arteries- Solar Light, Life, and Stellar Fire + Faith

Veins- Stellar Fire + Faith

Positive Connectors- Stellar Fire + Faith

Soul and Mana Conduits:

Negative Connectors- Solar Light, Stellar Fire, and Life + Faith.

Arteries- Lunar Shadow, Soul, and Stellar Fire + Faith

Veins- Stellar Fire + Faith

Positive Connectors- Stellar Fire + Faith

"Is this clear?"

"For the most part, but you still have to explain why you chose these combinations."

"Fair enough. For the Negative Connectors, you will notice that they are made up of the opposite affinity. That is because the mana that passes through them will contain all of our affinities. This way, the unnecessary attributed mana i.e. in Body and Mana Conduit’s case, Lunar Shadow and Soul attributed mana will be absorbed by the conduit to strengthen itself. Stellar Fire attributed mana is necessary so that Solar Light and Lunar Shadow do not conflict with each other.

The mana that reaches the heart will only contain Stellar Fire, Solar Light, and Life attributed mana. The heart will absorb about 25% of that mana and pump the rest to all parts of the body through the Arteries. The Body Vessel will absorb the Solar Light and Life attributed mana almost completely along with trace amounts of Stellar Fire attributed mana.

Then the leftover Stellar Fire attributed mana along with trace amounts of Solar Light and Life Mana will return to the heart through the veins. The heart will then return that mana to the mana centre, from where it originated, through the Positive Connectors. It is the same process with the Soul and Mana Conduits, just with different affinities.

This is also why we don’t need a separate set of conduits for the Mana Vessel because the leftover mana from the other two vessels would be more than enough.

Any questions?"

"Yeah, where will we create the conduits?"

"This is where it gets dangerous. We will create the conduits inside our bodies."

"But we already discussed this. Your bodies don’t have the space for another set of conduits let alone two."

"That’s why this is gonna be dangerous. And painful. And even then, the conduits wouldn’t be perfect. They will have a certain dissonance that cannot be erased, unless..."

"Unless?"

"Unless we die."

"Huh?"

Leonel was a bit disappointed as he said, "If it was impossible, you could have just told us."

"It is not impossible."

"It kinda is. There is no need to go through all that if it would be imperfect."

"But it would perfect itself if we die."

"First of all, that doesn’t make any sense. Second of all, it wouldn’t matter even if it did. Because you both would already be dead."

At this moment Cass’s eyes widened as if he had understood something. He started laughing hysterically in disbelief as he said, "Zeke, you crazy fucker."

Leonel was shocked because he had never seen Cass like this. He rarely cussed if at all but even then never at Zeke. What could push him to do so? As Leonel was wondering that, Zeke said, "So you understand what we have to do."

At this time Leonel understood how Cass would sometimes feel when he was with him and Zeke.

"Will someone explain to me what is there to be understood?"

"As he said, we need to die. He means that after we have completed creating the conduits, we need to die and resurrect. We can do that once per Grade with our Innate SKill, Phoenix Resurgence."

"He’s right. During the activation of the two Racial Traits, I also explored our skills and abilities. I found that Phoenix Resurgence, as its name suggests, is a skill from the mythical creature, Phoenix. They are famous for their ability, Nirvana, with which, they can resurrect after they die. Although they have to begin again from their childhood, all of their strength is turned into potential.

Our skill is a watered-down version. Although our potential wouldn’t increase and we wouldn’t regress into children, it will optimise our bodies. That means it will also perfect the conduits for us."

Leonel was speechless. Zeke just told him that he and Cass would need to commit suicide for the technique to work...with a straight face. At the same time, he also understood why Cass had reacted the way that he did. Zeke without any inhibitions sure was scary.

"You do realise that you cannot experiment with this method. It either works or you die."

"And resurrect. So it’ll be fine. And we will also need to use Phoenix Resurgence while we’re creating the conduits. For healing purposes. We don’t wanna die before we’re done."

"I don’t want to die at all, you lunatic."

"Then you don’t. I won’t force this on you. But know this, you cannot stop me. If you choose not to, I’ll help create a technique for you. But it will take a lot of time and it won’t nearly be as powerful as this."

"You...I never said that I wouldn’t do it. But remember, if Aunt Kat ever finds out about this, then I won’t have any knowledge of this. You just did it alone and I was affected because of the Myth."

Zeke shivered visibly when he imagined that.

"Let us hope that she never does. Grandpa can tell them that he is taking us to train or something like that because we cannot, under any circumstances, attempt this anywhere near here"

They both looked at Leonel with the best puppy eyes they could make.

"You brats will be the death of me. Fine, I will think of something. But tell me this, do you guys have enough Faith?"

"We have more than enough. I think you underestimate our influence. I don’t mean to brag, but among the lower Grade players, we are basically unmatched. We can easily mobilise the majority with just a word."

When Leonel thought about it, he couldn’t deny it. Nephilim Pharmaceuticals had grown into a giant in its community. Their products were the best of their kind, cheap, and their profit margins were huge. He sighed, the next few days were going to be hectic.

Lazy Lord Veiled in the Shadows (I haven’t posted this yet, but I will soon. Here is the synopsis)

David, an ordinary man leading a monotonous life in a 9-to-5 job, found solace in the escapism of webnovels. His mundane existence took an unexpected turn when, engrossed in a new title, ’Martial War: An Epic Saga,’ he succumbed to a sudden brain aneurysm. To his bewilderment, David awoke in the very world he had been reading about, reincarnated into the unfolding narrative.

The catch? He had only read the prologue, leaving his knowledge of the future blank. His second chance at life took a dark turn when he was sold to a shadowy organization that subjected him to abuse, molding him into a lethal assassin. His salvation came unexpectedly when he was rescued by the novel’s protagonist, earning a place as the protagonist’s right-hand man. As their alliance flourished, David found himself entangled in a tumultuous life, culminating in a heroic but tragic end on the battlefield. His dying wish for peace remained unfulfilled as, contrary to his expectations, death did not bring respite.

Instead, David experienced an unnerving regression, returning to the womb. Determined to embrace a serene existence in his next life, he vowed to rest peacefully. Yet, the relentless hand of fate had other plans for him. Will he find the tranquillity he seeks, or is destiny bound to disrupt his quest for rest once again? The journey unfolds as David navigates the unpredictable twists of his reincarnated existence.
