Chapter 2237: Chapter 2237: The Youngsters’ Sweet Love (150)

When she changed into her costume and stood in front of Emma, she saw the fleeting sinister smile in her eyes. Laura Jones’s gaze slightly darkened.

"For the sake of us being classmates, I specifically recommended you to the Director as a stunt double, giving you the chance to show your face on screen. You really should thank me."

Laura Jones squinted, "You suggested this?"

"Of course."

Emma smiled, "The scene coming up is quite exciting. You have to perform well."

Laura Jones frowned slightly, and upon recalling the plot, she knew what the upcoming scene was.

She also understood why Emma would actively recommend her to the Director.

In this scene, the character of the ’Perfect Woman’ takes out her frustration on the protagonist’s servant because she couldn’t win over the male lead’s affection.

Laura Jones’s role as a stunt double now is that of the maid.

Throughout the scene, the maid is drowned by the ’Perfect Woman’ and ultimately suffocates to death.

Laura Jones understood right away. Was Emma using the guise of filming to sabotage her?

Emma noticed Laura’s face slightly tense, and laughed: "

"What, afraid?"

Laura Jones smirked and said:

"Want to sabotage me? Have you thought of an escape plan?"

"Escape plan?"

Emma laughed like she’d heard the biggest joke ever, covering her mouth—

"Do I need an escape plan? As the niece of the investor, I don’t need one."

A hint of ferocity flashed in Emma’s eyes as she closed in on Laura, saying:

"Laura Jones, I’m outright telling you, I’m going to sabotage you. If you’ve got guts, go and tell the Director you don’t want to act."

She gloated at Laura, laughing arrogantly:

"After all, I want to see how irritating a person who goes back on their word can be."

Laura Jones wasn’t angry, and simply said to her, "As long as you remain so assured, that’s fine. Let’s start without delaying everyone’s time."

With that said, she walked over first to where the large water vat, filled to the brim, was waiting.

In this Director’s films, besides some high-difficulty moves, no actor is allowed to use a stunt double or any kind of workaround.

Therefore, Emma was seriously planning to push Laura into the water vat.

Emma apparently wanted to seize this opportunity to make Laura suffer.

The scene reshot over ten times, and eventually, the Director was enraged.

"What’s going on? Such a simple scene ruined like this!"

Laura Jones was a good swimmer, so she wasn’t choked, but it was winter, and she was freezing.

She knew Emma wanted to use this plot to push her underwater, to satisfy her revenge mentality, but she never thought Emma would dare to sabotage her by reshooting over ten times.

Emma really thought her uncle being a small investor made her invincible, not afraid even of angering the Director?

Emma was quick to admit fault; as soon as the Director started yelling, she immediately apologized—

"Sorry, Director, Laura is my classmate. I really can’t bring myself to push her into such cold water by hand, so each time my expressions weren’t in place, sorry..."

She bowed while apologizing to the Director, completely sidelining her "good classmate" who practiced with her.

Laura Jones smirked, the coldness in her eyes deepened further.

"That Emma did it on purpose, didn’t she? When rehearsing with you before, she nailed complicated scenes in one go. Yet this scene was reshot more than ten times."

Under a parasol not far away, Sophie Greenwood sat there, silently appreciating the scene that had just unfolded.
