Chapter 501: Chapter 501 - Epilogue(Part 1)

"Is it just me, or did we way overprepare for this? It didn’t even take us a full hour to get the city under our control, and things progressed super smoothly after that, we’ve faced no resistance or opposition at all," Remarked Celes in bemusement.

Probably because we conquered the city in less than an hour, that was no insignificant display of power.

"Yeah, it was definitely a lot easier than I imagined it would be," I nodded in agreement.

A couple of days have passed since we attacked the city. Celes and I killed off the vast majority of the Adventurers in the city, only a couple dozen or so were left, the Commoners.

Arucei had eliminated the corrupt Nobles who ruled over the city, including the one in charge of the place. It wasn’t long before none of us ran into any further resistance, and we proceeded to spread the word to the civilians about what was in store for the city going forward.

Many seemed wary and suspicious, understandably so, but none of them objected or resisted to Arucei taking over ruling the city. As it turned out, she had a pretty decent reputation among the Commoners, thanks to her family treating them fairly before they were assassinated.

Arucei was now in charge, and she’d assigned a number of representatives among the citizens to consult with and whatnot. Celes and I took one of the now-vacant Noble mansions for ourselves, though it’s kinda more space than we know what to do with.

Arucei was busy establishing order in the city, setting up a new list of laws, rules and regulations, and also figuring out how to implement some of the necessary factors we need to make the city self-sufficient. freēwebnovel.com

To begin with, we first ensured that the city was protected. Celt Sedint, the Adventurer that Arucei told us about, created massive, highly durable earth walls around the region, enclosing us in.

It took all day yesterday to set up, I flew him around the border of the region, making sure whatever resources we need were enclosed within the walls.

The walls were towering in height, and the density to them was absolutely incredible, even Celes and I could barely break through it with our full strength.

He’s a pretty chill guy, he got over the fact that we’re Unique Monsters pretty quickly, and had no trouble chatting casually with us. He made it pretty clear how thrilled he was that we’d killed the corrupt Nobles and Adventurers, and really gave it his all into creating the walls.

To add further security, I flew around to areas with heavy concentrations of dangerous Monsters, and commanded them to form new territories in the areas outside of the wall.

So, now, the entire space surrounding the wall is absolutely teeming with some of the most dangerous Monster species in this world.

It’s only a matter of time before Adventurers from the rest of the nation come here, but good luck to them. Even a team of S-Ranks are bound to struggle against the sheer number of Monsters they’d have to get through to even get close to the wall.

Celes and I handed out a ton of plants and seeds to the civilians this morning, with detailed instructions on how to grow and maintain them. Arucei was also drafting up plans to set up farms so that we’d have a regular supply of meat and other animal produce, like milk and eggs.

We were also planning to set up outposts by all the resource-rich spots outside of the city, we’ll try to get volunteers for the various jobs we’ll need done. We’re going to need to figure out stuff like currency and compensation too, the city does have a decent amount of money flowing through it, but balancing it and assigning worth and value to the different products and jobs and whatnot will be tricky.

But Arucei seems to have it covered, so I’ll leave that stuff upto her. Unlike with Arcadia, it’s going to be tough to establish trade or anything with the other nations here, which is exactly why it’s so important that we be self-sufficient.

On a related note, we renamed the city. It’s now known as Larcelaru, basically taking the first three letters of each of our names and combining them. Probably not what I would’ve gone with, but Arucei suggested it, saying how grateful she was for our help and that it’s only right that our names be in the city’s name, so it was kinda hard to object. freewebnoveℓ.com

Oh, right, I guess it’s not a city anymore. It’s a sort of mini, independent nation now.

And I intend to protect it. I’ll help train and build up a solid fighting force for the city, and I’ll use my own power too...this time, I’m not letting it slip out of my grasp, my ultimate goal.

I still dwell on everything I lost sometimes, and while there’s no getting any of it back, I refuse to lose anything else. I don’t care what it takes...I’ve finally got it in my hands again, the promise of a peaceful life, and I’ll do whatever I need to in order to protect it.

Even if it means killing every single person in the rest of this world, if that’s what it takes, so be it.

"Larrk? You good?" Inquired Celes, waving her hand in front of my face.

"Huh? Uh, yeah, I’m fine...just zoned out for a bit, that’s all," I responded sheepishly, patting her head.

"I get that, this is all pretty surreal, huh? I can’t believe we own a mansion now. And now that we’ve finally got a bit of downtime...what do you say we put this bed to use?" She whispered suggestively, as she placed her hand on top of mine, batting her eyes at me.

"Well, we’ve never done it on a real bed before, so...yeah, why not?" I replied with a slight smirk, before leaning in towards her...
