Chapter 518: Chapter 518: You Deserve a Beating

If they were actual siblings, and one of them ran into this kind of trouble, the other would of course step in to help.

However...

Melody Summers couldn’t help but sneer. ’In my past life, I was so good to Silas Lancaster. I washed his clothes, cooked his meals, and did everything I could to improve our relationship. And how did he repay me?’

’Silas Lancaster knew full well that Sylvia Lancaster was going to drug me and hand me over to Hector Hayes to be brutalized. Not only did he do nothing to stop her, he actually sided with Sylvia, swearing up and down that she was his only sister.’

There was no way in hell Melody Summers was going to help him now.

Melody Summers opened the inner door and stared coldly at Silas Lancaster through the security gate. Her face was devoid of expression as she said, "What real siblings? I don’t have a brother, and your only real sister is Sylvia Lancaster. We have nothing to do with each other. Now, get lost!"

Hearing Melody’s words, Silas Lancaster started to panic.

’He couldn’t go back to the underground parking garage. Those gamblers were hunting for him everywhere. After something like this, he didn’t even dare to call the police. If Melody abandoned him, he was well and truly screwed!’

Silas Lancaster gritted his teeth. With trembling hands, he unbuttoned his shirt, revealing skin covered in ugly, dark bruises.

He looked up, his face a mask of humiliation, and pleaded tearfully with Melody, "They did this to me. All these injuries... They don’t even treat me like a human being... Sis, you can’t abandon me. If they drag me back, I’m going to die! I really will!"

Silas Lancaster’s body was a canvas of ghastly black and blue bruises, large and small, crisscrossing his skin. A long, thin gash ran across his shoulder. Its clean edges suggested it was made by a dagger. It was still oozing blood, a truly gruesome sight.

Seeing Silas Lancaster’s wretched state, Melody Summers frowned slightly. She couldn’t help but think, ’If I hadn’t fought back in my past life, my fate would have been far, far worse than this!’

When Silas Lancaster saw Melody’s somber expression, he thought she was starting to feel sorry for him. A flicker of joy ignited in his heart, and he feigned desperation, declaring, "Sis, if you don’t save me, I’ll kill myself! I’d rather die than let them...!"

Silas Lancaster thought, ’If Melody hears this, she’s sure to soften up and help me!’

However, Melody was thinking, ’Suicide? That’s fine. After all, in my last life, I killed myself right after I killed Hector Hayes. If Silas Lancaster wants to commit suicide, it’s just karmic retribution. Poetic justice. That’s great.’

So she nodded and replied, "Alright, then."

’Alright, then?!’

Silas Lancaster stared at Melody in utter disbelief. ’Does she even know what she’s saying?!’

Melody met his gaze calmly, her eyes holding the detached anticipation of someone with a movie ticket waiting for the death scene to play out.

As Silas Lancaster stared at her, a strange feeling mixed with his shock and panic—he felt wronged...

He gritted his teeth, his voice laced with threat. "...How can you abandon me?! If my parents and older brother find out you left me to die, they... they’ll definitely disown you!"

The threat was so ridiculous that Melody laughed.

’He’s still trying to threaten me with that?’

She looked at Silas Lancaster with disgust. "Why are you bringing them up? What does your family have to do with me? Since you’re so concerned about them, why don’t you just... introduce your father and your older brother to your ’man’? Then you can all look out for each other!"

At her words, Silas Lancaster’s face flushed a deep red, whether from shame or fury, it was hard to tell.

His eyes flew wide, and he pointed a trembling finger at Melody. "You! You...!"

Melody shrugged nonchalantly. "Me? What about me? The three of you—father and sons—serving the same boss... now that would be a story for the ages!"

Silas Lancaster was so enraged he was speechless. He gripped the bars of the gate, glaring venomously at Melody.

After a long moment, realizing threats weren’t working, Silas Lancaster’s attitude suddenly softened.

He seemed to come to a decision. After a moment’s hesitation, he gritted his teeth and said, "Sis, believe it or not, I had a dream a few days ago. In the dream, you came back to the family, and you were so good to me..."

Silas Lancaster wasn’t just playing the sympathy card; he had actually had such a dream.

The dream was bizarre, and the Melody in it was a world apart from the one before him now. But Silas Lancaster much preferred the Melody from his dream.

The Melody in his dream would wash Silas Lancaster’s clothes and cook for him, taking care of the entire family with perfect efficiency...

While Silas Lancaster was still rambling on about his dream, there was a sharp CLICK. Melody had unlocked the security gate.

At the sight, a flicker of hope ignited in Silas Lancaster’s eyes. ’I knew it! Melody is my sister, after all. She won’t just stand by and watch me die!’

But to Silas Lancaster’s astonishment, Melody walked over, her face a blank mask, and viciously kicked his injured leg!

"AHHH—" Kicked to the ground by Melody, Silas Lancaster let out a bloodcurdling scream.

Silas Lancaster clutched his leg, writhing on the ground in so much pain he could barely form words. "You... why..."

Melody sneered. "Why what? Are you asking why I’m hitting you? It’s because you deserve to be beaten, of course!"

The memories of her past life sent a fresh wave of fury surging through Melody, burning all the way to the top of her skull. She strode forward and kicked Silas Lancaster viciously in the head several times.

Realizing her soft-soled house slippers weren’t doing much damage, Melody ran back toward the villa. She returned from the yard with a baseball bat and brought it crashing down on Silas Lancaster’s other, uninjured leg!

"AHHH—! AHHH—!"

Silas Lancaster let out a series of gut-wrenching screams. He felt as if Melody was about to shatter his bones.

Cold sweat dripped down his forehead. He trembled uncontrollably, the immense pain nearly causing him to pass out.

Still not satisfied, Melody began bashing Silas Lancaster’s arms. "In the dream, I was so good to you," she snarled, striking him with each word. "I washed your clothes and cooked your meals! So how did you treat me? What happened to me in the end? Say it!"

At her words, Silas Lancaster’s face, already pale with pain, went a shade whiter.

He scrambled on the ground, pathetically dodging the swinging bat as he bit out, "Agh! Stop! It... it was just a dream! You can’t beat me for a dream..."

Silas Lancaster trailed off, unable to continue—

’He knew it in his heart. If Melody had really returned to the Lancaster family... the events of the dream were exactly what he and his family would have done...’

Staring into Melody’s mocking eyes, Silas Lancaster felt a sudden, inexplicable panic.

He gritted his teeth against the pain shooting through his legs and said to Melody, "Sis, the good thing is, reality isn’t like the dream. We all see Sylvia Lancaster for who she really is now. She’s run off. Our family can finally be together..."

The more Silas Lancaster tried to rationalize, the more disgusted Melody became.

’Sylvia Lancaster, the one who started it all, was certainly despicable. But it was the Lancasters, who couldn’t tell right from wrong, that she found truly sickening!’

’At least everything Sylvia did was for her own self-interest. The Lancasters, on the other hand, were both stupid and evil!’
