"They’re just a little curious about you. Don’t mind them."
Lu Cheng was worried Shen Nian wouldn’t like being stared at by so many people, so he quickly explained. If he had known this would happen, he would have made better arrangements.
"Mm, I’m fine. Are those your dorms up ahead?"
Shen Nian smiled and shook her head. She was going to be living with Lu Cheng, after all. Even if it felt a little strange, she knew she had to get used to this sort of thing as quickly as possible.
’Besides, those people are just curious. They don’t mean any harm, so what is there to worry about? A few glances won’t kill me.’
"Yeah, we’re almost there."
After speaking, Lu Cheng led Shen Nian around a corner, up to the third floor, and then opened one of the dorm rooms, bringing her inside.
"Rest for a little while. I’ll be back as soon as I can."
Lu Cheng should have gone to report immediately, but he was worried about Shen Nian, so he brought her to the dorm first.
"Okay, you should go!"
After Lu Cheng left, Shen Nian began to look around his dorm room.
The room wasn’t large—about the size of a standard single-person dorm. The furniture inside was also simple; other than a bed, a wardrobe, and a desk, there wasn’t much else.
Although it was an old building, Lu Cheng kept his room very neat. But since he hadn’t been back for a few days, some areas had gathered a fair bit of dust.
With nothing better to do, Shen Nian decided to grab a washbasin, fill it with some water, get a rag, and start cleaning.
Just as she was getting into the swing of things, Shen Nian suddenly heard a KNOCK on the door.
’Lu Cheng can’t be back this soon, can he? Who would be visiting at a time like this?’
Though puzzled, Shen Nian put down her things, walked to the door, and opened it.
Wang Xi, who was outside the door, had been exceptionally excited ever since he got this assignment. Plenty of people in their group had been hoping for a chance to speak with the group leader’s lady, and now he had snatched the opportunity. How could he not be pleased with himself!
He had been worried that he’d definitely get an earful for teasing the group leader on the way back. But to his surprise, not only did the group leader not punish him, he even entrusted him with such an important task.
That’s right—Wang Xi was the very same team member who had pestered Lu Cheng on the road, asking if he was bringing Shen Nian up the mountain to do something naughty.
Although he had seen Shen Nian before, Lu Cheng was so protective of her that Wang Xi had only ever glimpsed her from afar.
Now that Shen Nian had suddenly appeared right in front of him, Wang Xi was genuinely stunned.
’Our sister-in-law is gorgeous! Like a fairy maiden!’
’And she just arrived, but she’s already cleaning the group leader’s dorm! She’s so thoughtful and diligent! Our group leader is one lucky guy!’
"You are...?"
Shen Nian watched the young man in front of her, who had been staring intently at her ever since she opened the door, his expression shifting from surprise to awe.
"Ma’am, I’m one of the group leader’s team members. My name is Wang Xi. The group leader asked me to bring this. He said that if you get bored in the room, you’re welcome to walk around the dormitory area."
"Oh, it’s you! Thank you for going to the trouble of bringing this over."
Hearing him say that, Shen Nian recognized him as the young man who had been with them on the way back.

After saying his piece, Wang Xi quickly turned and hurried downstairs, a wide grin on his face that made him look rather goofy.
