Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Looking for Trouble

Mrs. Fu nodded. "All right. Don’t buy too much."

After her daughter left, she couldn’t help but mutter, ’What’s with this son-in-law? Didn’t he say he was going to stop by this afternoon? How come he just vanished after he left?’

’He didn’t seem like such an unreliable person!’

’Or did something come up?’

She let out a small sigh. Thankfully, they had this house. Otherwise, she’d be a nervous wreck.

Fu Mingxue walked around the main street for a bit, then found an empty corner and took out some things she had stored in her space.

Even though she had spent the last few days on a train, she hadn’t cut back on her reading time one bit.

Therefore, she had rewards coming in every day.

Plus what she had accumulated over the New Year.

She now had two pounds of fine flour, three pounds of rice, and two pounds of meat that was a perfect mix of fat and lean.

There was also a fish, weighing about two pounds.

She picked up all the items and prepared to head home.

She had barely stepped out of the alleyway when she heard someone shouting, "Sister-in-law!"

The voice sounded familiar, so Fu Mingxue instinctively stopped and turned toward the sound.

’Isn’t the person riding a bicycle toward me Qin Wenhao’s cousin?’

"Sister-in-law, I was just on my way to find you. I didn’t expect to run into you here."

Fu Mingxue looked at him. "Is something the matter?"

"Sister-in-law, the twins are sick. Brother Wenhao took them to the hospital, so he probably won’t have time to stop by. He asked me to come and let you know."

Hearing that the two children were sick, Fu Mingxue immediately asked, "They’re sick? The children are in the hospital? Which one?"

"The Second Hospital. It’s not far from here."

"Then I’ll go take a look—" ’After all, they’re technically my children now!’

’If they’ve been admitted to the hospital, it must be serious.’

She had only taken a couple of steps when she glanced down at all the things she was carrying.

"Cousin, could I borrow your bicycle for a second? I need to take these things home and let my mom know, then I’ll go to the hospital."

"Of course." Qin Wenshu immediately hopped off his bicycle.

He handed the bicycle to Fu Mingxue.

He also helped her hang the bags on the bicycle’s rear rack.

Just then, a woman’s sharp cry rang out. "Qin Wenshu, what do you think you’re doing?"

As the voice faded, a slender figure appeared before them in a flash.

The girl who had just arrived glared furiously at Qin Wenshu.

"Qin Wenshu, who is she?"

Qin Wenshu frowned. "Zhao Sisi, what are you shouting for? This is my sister-in-law—"

Then he turned to Fu Mingxue. "Sorry, just ignore her. You should go—"

"You’re not going anywhere! Qin Wenshu, you’re not going anywhere until you explain yourself! No wonder you’ve been avoiding me lately. So you’ve been hooking up with some little hussy behind my back—"

Qin Wenshu’s face turned ashen with rage. "Zhao Sisi, what nonsense are you spouting? This is my sister-in-law! She’s Brother Wenhao’s wife, my third brother’s wife!"

Zhao Sisi was stunned. "What? Qin Wenhao’s wife? Impossible—"

Fu Mingxue couldn’t be bothered to deal with this woman.

She simply didn’t have the time.

She immediately got on the bicycle to leave.

But the moment Zhao Sisi saw her leaving, she instinctively grabbed the handlebars.

The sudden tug threw the bicycle off balance, and Fu Mingxue nearly fell.

However, the bag of rice on the rear rack tumbled onto the ground.

That did it. Fu Mingxue was furious.

That was precious grain.

She stared at Zhao Sisi, her eyes turning frigid. Her voice was like ice. "Pick up every single grain."
