Chapter 2363: Chapter 2363: Life Comes First
Life is almost gone, what do we need treasure for?
Knowing there’s no way out, the two brothers didn’t care about the treasure either. Their lives were more important. Without life, what’s the use of so much money?
So, they circled around the walls, trying to find an exit, but after searching over and over, they didn’t see even a crack. The two brothers were extremely frustrated, sitting dejectedly on the ground.
The elder inside the coffin was calmly resting with his eyes closed.
When the two brothers finally collapsed in exhaustion, he leisurely said, "Don’t bother, you’ll never find the exit."
The Thin Man, unconvinced, said, "We can’t just sit here and wait to die. Maybe if we search, there’s a glimmer of hope."
Elder: "Heh heh heh...! With your intellect, you wouldn’t find it even in fifty years."
The Thin Man was furious, but had nothing to say.
After a while, seeing them looking downcast, the elder said, "If you agree to do something for me, I’ll tell you the way out."
The two brothers’ eyes lit up immediately, and they asked eagerly, "What? There’s an exit?"
Elder: "Of course there is. This is an underground palace. When it was built, there had to be an exit."
The Fat Man thought for a moment, a bit skeptical: "You clearly said earlier there was no exit, and now you’re saying there is? Are you playing games with us, the brothers?"
The elder closed his eyes and said gloomily, "Believe it or not? If you don’t believe, you can keep searching. I guarantee you won’t find it in fifty years. By then, I’ll be dead, and you’ll live out your days here too."
The Fat Man’s small, shrewd eyes glared at the elder, asking, "Since you know the exit, why haven’t you left for decades?"
The elder got angry at this question. He moved, making the coffin thud on the ground, angrily cursing: "In my younger days, I was also extraordinarily handsome. In the Capital, many noble ladies chased after me. But once, I was caught unawares by a treacherous villain and got trapped in this coffin, like a turtle carrying a shell, unable to shake it off. How am I supposed to face anyone like this? It would be a laughingstock, utterly embarrassing. No way I would do that!"
After talking for so long, the brothers finally realized that this old guy couldn’t free himself from the coffin and felt too ashamed to face anyone. So he stayed in the underground palace all this time.
The Fat Man, somewhat skeptical, asked, "With such high martial arts skills, how can a small coffin trap you?"
The elder got even angrier upon hearing this and muttered angrily to himself: "That damn woman was too sinister. To trap me, she didn’t hesitate to spend a fortune to create this coffin."
Then, he told them, "Don’t be fooled by this coffin’s appearance; it’s actually made of specially crafted Mysterious Iron, incredibly hard. Without a treasured sword that can cut through iron like mud, there’s no way to get out of it."
The two brothers finally understood. The old man wanted them to find a treasured sword that cuts through iron like mud to help him escape the coffin. However, Mysterious Iron is already incredibly hard, and a standard sword couldn’t cut it, let alone a coffin made of specially crafted Mysterious Iron. The difficulty was imaginable.
Upon hearing this, the Thin Man was quick to back down, saying, "Forget it, we’ll just try finding the exit ourselves!"
Mysterious Iron is extremely precious. As protectors of the Heavenly Mountain Sect, they couldn’t even get a piece, let alone find a treasured sword that could cut it open.
The elder wasn’t in a hurry, still calmly lying in the coffin and closing his eyes to rest.
The two brothers dragged their tired feet around again. They still couldn’t find an exit anywhere, feeling both hungry and fatigued, they could no longer move and had to stop in their tracks, feeling hopeless and resting.
