Chapter 2362: Chapter 2362: Underground Palace
The old man inside the coffin glanced coldly at the Luminous Pearl in his hand and said, "If you’re not thieves, what’s that you’re holding?"
The Thin Man followed his gaze and saw the Luminous Pearl in his own hand. He was instantly speechless; the evidence was conclusive, and he had nothing to say.
"Put them back, these Luminous Pearls are the only source of light for me living here. Did you dare steal them because you have a death wish?"
Being called a thief, the Thin Man was also infuriated and replied sarcastically, "You look like a prisoner and don’t seem like the owner here, why claim these Luminous Pearls as yours?"
"You’re courting death."
As if his tail had been stepped on, the person locked in the coffin suddenly flared up in anger. The entire coffin jumped up and swept toward the Thin Man with incredible speed.
The Thin Man felt a gust of wind sweeping towards him and was startled, quickly dodging to the side. However, the coffin seemed to have eyes; it missed once but changed direction and rushed straight at the Thin Man again.
This was the first time he had seen someone use a coffin to attack; he was terribly frightened and focused all his energy on defending himself.
The Fat Man, watching from the side, was also scared, intermittently shouting, "Brother, be careful!"
Right after he spoke, the corner of the coffin struck the Thin Man’s waist, and he let out a miserable scream, collapsing to the side.
"Brother, Brother."
The Fat Man was anxious and rushed over to check.
Unexpectedly, the red coffin didn’t pause after knocking the Thin Man down but headed directly towards him.
If he hadn’t reacted quickly and crouched down, he would have been hit.
Even so, due to his obesity, the red coffin still hit him on the back, knocking him down to the ground: "Ah... it hurts... Brother... Brother, come save me!"
The Thin Man, already knocked down, was barely able to look after himself, let alone save him.
The coffin circled in the air and landed sharply, standing upright in front of them, while the Elder inside ominously questioned them again: "Speak, who are you two, and what is your purpose here?"
At this point, for the sake of survival, the Thin Man dared not act tough anymore and responded honestly, "Senior, we really activated the mechanism by accident and ended up here."
Elder: "Are you sure?"
Thin Man: "Yes, we belong to the Heavenly Mountain Sect. It’s our first time in the Capital, unfamiliar with everything here, with no ulterior motives. We didn’t even know there was an underground palace here before!"
The Elder blew his beard and glared, saying, "Quickly put the Luminous Pearls back, or I’ll chop off your hands."
Under the eaves, how could they not bow their heads? They were not a match for the Elder, so they obediently put the Luminous Pearls back.
Only then did the Elder’s expression relax, and he ceased attacking them.
Only then did the two brothers breathe a sigh of relief.
The Fat Man smiled amicably and asked the Elder, "Senior, is there any way out of the underground palace? Could you please tell us? We accidentally fell in here and have been trapped for several Shichen. Our father is still waiting for us at home; he must be anxious. We want to go back and assure him of our safety."
"Ha ha ha...!"
The Elder let out a piercing laugh and said, "I’ve been trapped here for decades. If there was a way out, I would have left long ago."
Upon hearing this, the brothers’ faces instantly fell; wouldn’t they be trapped here for life?
The two sat powerlessly on the ground. This was great; all for a Token, the brothers got stuck here. Their father returned to the Heavenly Mountain and doesn’t even know they’ve had an accident. If they die here, it would truly be a case of the living not seeing them and the dead not leaving a trace.
The Elder had been staying here alone for decades without anyone to talk to. Though he finally had some company, he didn’t plan to kill them, but he set a rule: no one was allowed to touch anything here.
