Some people looked furious, while others looked like they were about to burst out laughing; everyone’s expressions were different.
One man shook his head and sighed as he said, "Ai! Truly, morals are decaying and people’s hearts aren’t what they used to be. Our town actually ended up with such a disgraceful incident."
"Isn’t that so? In broad daylight, someone actually went out on the main street without wearing any clothes at all. This... this is simply scandalous!"

Xuexue found it strange. Just then, a waiter happened to be standing nearby, so she asked, "Hey, what’s going on out there? What are they all talking about?"
The waiter told her that early this morning, a man had been lying stark naked by the side of the street, fast asleep. Everyone who saw it exploded in an uproar. At first, no matter how they shouted, they just couldn’t wake him up. Later, someone splashed him with cold water, and only then did he wake up.

Xuexue felt her hair stand on end. Leaving a black inn like this around would only bring disaster upon people. Her eyes turned, and a plan slowly took shape in her mind.

A plump woman with a round waist, dressed in silk clothes, was standing at the entrance with three Little Kids of four or five years old, sobbing and wailing...
"Ah wuuu... A black inn! This really is a black inn! Everyone come and judge this for me—this black inn got my husband killed! Ah wuuuuu...! Ah wuuu... How are the four of us mother and children supposed to live from now on?"
A bystander munching on gossip asked, "Auntie, what exactly happened? Tell us so we can hear."
The woman sobbed as she spoke, "We’re just travelers passing through. Yesterday our whole family ate here. Halfway through the meal, two of the Little Kids had stomachaches, so I took them to see a Doctor. My husband stayed here alone to finish eating. When we were done at the Doctor’s and came back, they told us my husband had already left. How is that possible? They must have killed my husband! Now our mother and children have no way to live! What are we supposed to do? Ah wuuuuu...!"
Once she finished, she broke into loud, unrestrained sobs again. The kids, seeing their mother crying, all burst into loud wails as well.
The scene of an orphaned widow with her children was miserably pitiful.
A matronly woman couldn’t bear it and gently said, "Auntie, maybe your husband really did have something urgent and had to leave? Don’t grieve yourself too much."
When the woman heard this, she cried even louder. "Impossible, how could that be? The four of us are still here! If my husband hadn’t met with an accident, how could he possibly abandon us?"
