Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Busted?

As she watched Wu Yun’s back disappear into the departure lounge, Xu Chenxi’s thoughts drifted, but her expression was one of pure determination.

Not until Wu Yun’s figure had vanished from sight did Xu Chenxi pick up her phone. She deleted the bank notification for the 200,000 yuan deposit, pinned Wu Yun’s profile picture to the top of her chat list, and only then turned to leave.

Wu Yun’s words echoed in her mind: "I won’t stand in the way of any choice you make. If you get tired of being a flight attendant, remember to come find me!"

...

Wu Yun’s flight landed at two in the afternoon.

He had eaten a little on the plane, so he wasn’t feeling hungry.

He hailed a taxi directly.

"Sir! Shida Modern Garden, next to Sichuan Normal University’s Chenglong Campus!"

"Got it!"

Wu Yun sat in the car, carrying out his daily "time management." For a while, he chatted with Wen Meng, recounting yesterday’s awkward incident, which made her giggle endlessly.

Wen Meng also asked if he wanted to come to her class reunion at noon on the sixth.

As for Qi Fei, she hadn’t replied. Wu Yun figured she was busy and didn’t give it any more thought.

While waiting at a red light, the driver, with his eagle-eyed vision, noticed Wu Yun in the passenger seat constantly switching between chat windows, talking to different girls.

As for how he knew they were girls, he saw someone send an alluring photo.

’These girls have no self-respect!’

The driver glanced at the handsome face of the young man beside him and thought, ’If my daughter ever found a boyfriend like this, I don’t care how handsome he is, I’d risk my life to break his third leg!’

The moment Wu Yun got out and closed the door, the driver, as if shooing away a fly, peeled out and vanished into the flow of traffic.

This left Wu Yun completely baffled. The driver had been stone-faced for the latter half of the trip, seeming to ignore him whenever he spoke. He had no idea how he might have offended the man.

Wu Yun shook his head, deciding not to dwell on such trivial matters.

He rubbed his hands together and chuckled, "Bai Yue, I’m here!"

Gently pulling open the apartment door, Wu Yun stepped inside without a sound.

He didn’t even bother changing his shoes, about to head for the bedroom to take a look, when he saw a graceful figure lying sideways on the sofa.

A thin blanket had slipped mostly onto the floor. Bai Yue’s body seemed to feel a chill, causing her to curl up.

Wu Yun recalled how Bai Yue had wanted to surprise him and couldn’t help but shake his head. "This silly girl!"

Picking up the blanket from the floor, Wu Yun gently draped it over Bai Yue.

He changed into his slippers, then did another check of his belongings and his scent. Finding nothing out of the ordinary, he confidently grabbed a small stool, sat down in front of Bai Yue, and quietly watched her as she napped.

One minute.

Five minutes.

It was unclear whether Bai Yue simply woke up on her own, or if a change in the magnetic field roused her.

Groggy, she saw a man sitting in front of her and let out a scream, recoiling until she was stopped by the back of the sofa.

"Bai Yue! It’s me, Ah Yun!" Wu Yun patted her cheek, finally silencing her scream.

"You rotten Ah Yun! You’re always bullying me!" Bai Yue, with tears in her eyes, beat on Wu Yun’s shoulders.

In response, Wu Yun pulled her into a tight hug and sealed her mouth with his.

"Mmph~"

Bai Yue only pushed him away when she was out of breath.

"Jerk, it’s all slobber!"

Bai Yue sat up and glanced at the time. "Ah Yun, have you had lunch? I’ll go make you a bowl of noodles!"

Wu Yun grabbed her slender wrist. "No need. I ate something on the plane."

Bai Yue didn’t insist, but she looked at him with an expectant expression. "Ah Yun, let’s go back to Jingyang! I want to eat Mute Rabbit! I want to eat Fried Egg Noodles!"

Bai Yue missed the food in Jingyang dearly. In the Capital City, it was the same few dishes day in and day out. Even when they had chili peppers, they had none of the heat.

So, tempted by the food and missing Wu Yun, Bai Yue had secretly planned to give him a surprise, but she never expected to miss him.

"Get changed! We’re leaving right now!"

...

However, accidents always happen when you least expect them.

Sitting in the passenger seat of the Big Black Bull, Bai Yue discovered a tube of lipstick that wasn’t hers.

By the time Wu Yun got into the car, Bai Yue’s face was already streaked with tears. "Wu Yun! Do you have another girlfriend?"

It wasn’t surprising, really. A tall, rich, and handsome man would attract attention anywhere. But this was the very thing she had always worried about.

Seeing Bai Yue holding the lipstick, a headache shot through Wu Yun’s skull. His mind spun like an engine, and he fell silent.

Seeing his reaction, Bai Yue became even more certain of her suspicions.

All the grievances of their long-distance relationship erupted at once. Her voice trembled as she said, "Say something!"

Seeing Bai Yue’s heartbroken expression, Wu Yun felt a pang of guilt. After all, he was clearly in the wrong. But being faithful for his entire life was impossible. As a man, he chose to have it all!

He knew Bai Yue would find out sooner or later, but he never expected to get caught so soon.

"Bai Yue! Let me explain! I—"

But Bai Yue covered her ears, shaking her head and screaming to cut him off. "I’m not listening! I’m not listening! Waaah~"

Glistening tears streamed down her cheeks, dripping onto her dress and the seat.

Wu Yun watched helplessly. He pulled out a couple of tissues to wipe her tears, but she flinched away.

"I just want to know what your relationship with her is!" Bai Yue choked out, looking at him with red-rimmed eyes.

Wu Yun stared at the lipstick in her hand, thought for a moment, and said, "Bai Yue, you have to believe me. My feelings for you are real!"

Seeing Bai Yue reach for the door handle, Wu Yun hurriedly grabbed her. "I did give a senior sister a ride! It was raining that day, and she left it in my car."

Bai Yue’s expression and voice suddenly became calm. Women sometimes think they’re Sherlock Holmes—no, their intuition is faster than any of Holmes’s deductions. "Wu Yun! It’s been three years. You think I don’t know you? Look me in the eyes when you talk to me!"

"Since you won’t tell me the truth, let’s just break up!"

As she said this, she was still clinging to a sliver of hope, not struggling too hard to break free from Wu Yun’s grasp.

Wu Yun saw the situation. He was dead either way, but he still had to try and salvage it. "Bai Yue, I’m really not lying to you!"

"Her name is Wen Meng, she’s a third-year senior at our university! She’s the lead dancer from that welcome party video you sent me a few days ago. I did give her a ride, and it’s true that Senior Sister Wen Meng is interested in me, but nothing has happened between us!"

Before Wu Yun could finish, Bai Yue cut him off.

"No wonder! No wonder sometimes when I video call you, the line is busy or you take forever to answer! Waaah! Wu Yun! You’re such a bastard!"

Bai Yue struggled with all her might to break free from his grip, but Wu Yun was far too strong. It was no use, no matter how much she thrashed.

Overcome with anger, Bai Yue twisted and swung her right hand across Wu Yun’s face.

"SLAP!"
