Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Picking Up the Car and Wen Meng’s Moments

Just as the four of them had predicted, the news hit the group chat like a bomb dropped into a quiet pond, blowing all the long-time lurkers out of the woodwork.

Everyone started tagging @Wu Yun, shouting, "Wu Yun is awesome! Wu Yun is the handsomest!"

Instantly, the chat was abuzz with discussions about the location for the dinner party, along with a few foodies sharing their expectations.

Wu Yun, who was in the middle of discussing with Wen Meng which pair of yoga pants was sexier, glanced at the group chat notifications and simply ignored his incessantly vibrating phone.

...

The next day, Wu Yun’s powerful internal clock woke him up at the same fixed time as always.

Wu Yun put on a pair of shorts, tossed the torn black yoga pants and wet wipes from the floor into the trash, then bagged up the garbage and fitted the can with a new liner before tiptoeing out of the room.

After a morning workout using his home gym equipment, Wu Yun headed into the kitchen.

While Wu Yun was in the kitchen bustling about with breakfast, he suddenly felt Wen Meng hug him from behind.

Since he was only wearing shorts, Wu Yun could easily feel her warmth against his back.

When he noticed the delicate hands caressing his abs were starting to get mischievous, Wu Yun hurriedly stopped her. "Senior, stop fooling around! I’m frying eggs!"

After a rather eventful breakfast, the two cleaned up the mess and took a taxi to the Mercedes-Benz dealership.

"Welcome. Are you two here to look at cars?" A saleswoman smiled and approached the handsome man and beautiful woman as they walked in.

Wen Meng glanced around and saw that Li Xinxin, the salesperson who had sold them the car, was currently with another client. So, she said directly, "Hello, we’re here to pick up our car. A Chalk White AMG G63."

The saleswoman was a bit disappointed—it was her turn in the rotation, but she hadn’t expected to get customers whose sale had already been finalized by someone else. Still, maintaining her professional demeanor, she smiled and said, "Please have a seat over here. I’ll notify our manager right away."

"Boss, boss! A major client is here for a vehicle pickup—the Chalk White AMG G63," the saleswoman said, grabbing a walkie-talkie from the reception desk and keying the mic.

A few moments later, a male manager in summer business attire walked over. He bowed slightly and extended a hand to Wu Yun. "Mr. Wu, Miss Wen, hello! Please follow me. Our dealership has prepared a delivery ceremony for you."

The manager remembered the pair well. They were premium clients who had arrived in a Lamborghini to buy a car, giving his dealership its first big sale of the month—even though they had paid in full.

The pair followed the manager to a slightly smaller, adjacent showroom. In the center sat a vehicle covered by a red silk drape. Judging by the sharp, protruding angles, it was clearly the rugged SUV Wu Yun had bought.

Three salespeople were already standing by the vehicle. Two held confetti cannons, and the third, a saleswoman, stood off to the side holding a bouquet of flowers.

"You go ahead, Senior," Wu Yun said to Wen Meng, looking at the waiting staff.

The manager wasn’t surprised that Wen Meng would be the one to complete the ceremony, since the vehicle was being registered with her ID, after all.

It just made him a little envious of the way rich people do things. ’A beautiful car for a beautiful woman, truly a perfect match!’

Accompanied by the POP of two confetti cannons, Wen Meng gently pulled, and the red silk drape slid smoothly off the vehicle.

The saleswoman presented the flowers, Wen Meng cooperated by posing for a few photos, and with that, the delivery ceremony was complete.

Amid a round of applause, Wen Meng accepted the car keys and a transparent document folder.

"Miss Wen, you have such a wonderful presence. I was wondering if we could post the photos we just took to our social media feed? They’d be for promotional purposes only, nothing else," the manager said as he approached, a hopeful look in his eyes.

Wen Meng, however, turned to look at Wu Yun, the love in her eyes plain for all to see.

Wu Yun simply nodded and said, "That’s fine."

The manager expressed his thanks and then continued, "You two, I’ve had an agent take care of all the other paperwork for the vehicle. Now you just need to go to the Vehicle Management Office to draw a number for the license plate. Here is the agent’s phone number. Call him when you arrive, and he’ll walk you through the remaining steps."

Next, under the manager’s guidance, Wen Meng completed the final signing procedures. Then, the couple got into their Chalk White AMG G63 and drove off in style.

"Clean this up and get ready for the next one!"

"Xiaoliu, remember to send the photos to Li Xinxin so she can forward them to Miss Wen!"

...

Since they had gotten up quite early, it was only about nine-thirty in the morning after they had collected the car.

So, Wu Yun followed the GPS directions toward the designated Vehicle Management Office, having Wen Meng contact the agent on the way.

Once at the Vehicle Management Office, the two were like marionettes, simply following the agent as he led them through a series of procedures.

For the final license plate lottery, however, Wu Yun had purchased an Intermediate Lucky Charm in advance, wanting to test its effects.

Naturally, the result was very satisfying. On a full page of available license plate numbers, Wu Yun spotted one that he found very pleasing.

As Wen Meng watched with a touched and emotional gaze, Wu Yun selected Shu A·WM520.

Wen Meng, who rarely posted on her social media feed, did something completely out of character. Cradling the bouquet from the dealership, she leaned against the newly-plated G63 and had Wu Yun take a few stunning photos, which she posted directly to her feed without any filters.

"Thankful for you! WY520!"

Although she didn’t usually put much effort into curating her social media feed, Wen Meng was very curious about the comments this time. After all, it was the first time she had ever posted anything related to a man.

Sitting in the passenger seat, which was much more spacious than the one in the Lamborghini, Wen Meng first took a couple of selfies with Wu Yun as he drove one-handed, then turned her attention back to the post she had just made.

"It’s over, it’s over! The goddess is being taken by some rich guy! BOO HOO HOO! There goes my youth!" This comment was from a high school classmate whom Wen Meng couldn’t even remember adding.

She just found the comment amusing and replied, "He’s tall, rich, AND handsome! Let’s just say his stats are 180 and 180!"

She glanced at some of the later, sour-grapes comments from other guys but chose to ignore them.

She replied to some of the congratulatory messages.

Then, Wen Meng suddenly saw a new comment.

Aunt: "Well, well! You finally got a boyfriend? Where’s he from? Are you bringing him home for the National Day holiday? Looks like his family is doing very well for themselves!"

Wen Meng’s face fell. She looked at Wu Yun, distraught. "Junior, I messed up. I forgot to block my family from seeing this post!"

Hearing this, Wu Yun just laughed and comforted her. "It’s okay, Senior! They’d have to meet me sooner or later anyway. Right now, I’m just praying that your dad doesn’t come after me with a knife when the time comes!"

Wen Meng knew what he was talking about. Her mood sank for a moment, but she quickly bounced back.

She was still very happy that Wu Yun wasn’t opposed to the idea of meeting her parents.

Just as she was about to thank Wu Yun with a more... practical demonstration of her gratitude, her phone started ringing.

Just as she’d expected, the caller ID "Her Majesty, The Mother" lit up the screen of the persistently vibrating phone.

"Go on, answer it. Why aren’t you picking up?" Wu Yun glanced at Wen Meng before turning his gaze back to the road ahead.

Wen Meng’s expression was conflicted, but she answered the call nonetheless.

"Hey, Mom! What’s up?" Wen Meng asked in her Sichuan dialect, her Mianzhou accent clearly audible.
