Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Popsicle, The Girls’ Reactions

Wen Meng looked at Wu Yun in surprise, then recalled a rumor. "I just remembered something. Before, Li Yuantao was competing with another rival for the student council presidency. But soon after, rumors started spreading on the school forums that his rival was a player and was embezzling funds. In the end, the rival had no choice but to withdraw, and Li Yuantao won."

A cold glint flashed in Wu Yun’s eyes as he smiled. "I don’t care if his name is Li Yuantao or Li Yuanba. He’d better not mess with me, or I’ll make him suffer. I might even ruin his reputation completely."

Wen Meng had been following the news about Wuyun Company. She knew that, by comparison, Li Yuantao was just a minor issue for Wu Yun.

Li Yuantao watched Wu Yun and Wen Meng’s intimate display. The hands resting on his knees clenched into tight fists, his jaw tightened, and his teeth ground with an audible GRIND.

’Wu Yun! Wen Meng!’

"Chairman Li, what did you think of that student’s dance?" the student council president from the School of Foreign Languages asked with a smile, looking at one of the students from his own school.

Li Yuantao tore his gaze away from the entrance and noticed the students on either side of him were watching him. He flashed a warm, gentle smile. "I think it’s worth considering. Compile a list of the acts that made it through, and we’ll all vote on it later. Of course, the finale performance by Wu is already set."

...

Stepping out of the arts center, Wu Yun felt the slightly muggy heat of the air outside, but he remained unfazed by the earlier incident.

"Did the Mercedes-Benz dealership call you?" Wu Yun asked. He remembered that he had also bought an SUV and had given them Wen Meng’s phone number.

Wen Meng looked at Wu Yun, her face flushing slightly. "These past few days, all I could think about was sending you selfies, so I completely forgot to tell you. They already called. The car arrived a couple of days ago."

"I figured you were coming back soon anyway, so we could go pick it up together. I don’t want to drive it... I’d rather ride in your passenger seat!" Wen Meng nestled her head on Wu Yun’s shoulder, a sweet smile spreading across her face.

"You little minx! Perfect, I’m free tomorrow. We’ll take a cab over." Wu Yun had the urge to give her a smack on the rear, but it was too awkward to move.

By the time they walked from Shida University to Shida Modern Garden, they were both starting to sweat.

They bought two popsicles at the gate. Wu Yun polished his off in a few quick bites, chewing it up and swallowing it down.

He turned to look at Wen Meng, who gently took half the popsicle into her mouth. She slowly pulled it out from between her red lips...

Wu Yun watched her eat the popsicle for a few more moments, then his expression grew serious.

"When we get back, you’re showering first. I want to see you in those black yoga pants!"

...

Zhao Yuqing dragged her exhausted body back to her dorm room.

Her roommate, Liu Qian, asked curiously, "Yuqing, how was it? How did Wu Yun do?"

Ever since Wu Yun’s street dance performance during military training, Liu Qian had become his devoted fan. After all, a handsome and talented guy was practically a rare species in a school so dominated by women.

Even if she couldn’t have him, just getting to look was a satisfaction in itself.

Zhao Yuqing peeled off her baggy military training uniform, revealing the sports tank top she wore underneath. She snatched a bottle of water from the table and GULP GULP GULP, downed more than half of it.

In a very unladylike move, she wiped the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand and declared, "One word: Stunning!"

Zhao Yuqing’s answer thoroughly piqued her roommates’ curiosity. Li Nian and Wang Ling, who were on their beds, poked their heads out, eager to hear the details.

Zhao Yuqing didn’t beat around the bush. "You guys know that classic Backstreet Boys song, ’As Long As You Love Me,’ right?"

"Don’t tell me Wu Yun sang *that* song?" Liu Qian asked in surprise, her thick local accent showing.

Li Nian, who was lounging on her bed, asked doubtfully, "Is Wu Yun’s English really that good?"

Zhao Yuqing nodded emphatically. "His English was crystal clear, and his singing was definitely professional-grade! And hey, I’ve got some inside info for you guys."

Once again, Zhao Yuqing had her roommates hanging on her every word.

"What is it! Spit it out!"

"Did you see Wu Yun’s girlfriend?"

"You have a crush on Wu Yun too?"

Zhao Yuqing rolled her eyes at their questions. "Please, I know my own limits. I’m no match for a guy that rich, handsome, and talented."

"And yes, I saw his girlfriend, the senior. She came with him today. She’s definitely beautiful, but what’s really captivating is her figure. Even I was jealous! It really goes to show what dancing does for your body."

"Oops! I got sidetracked. The big news is that Wu Yun isn’t just performing at our school’s welcome party, he’s also going to be in the university’s main welcome party later—as the finale! How huge is that?!"

This only made her roommates more eager to hear about the performance. Wang Ling even opened a music app and started playing the classic song.

"All I’m saying is, Wu Yun sang it just as well as the original artists!"

Zhao Yuqing slapped her forehead. "Ah! I’ve just been gossiping with you all, I forgot the most important news!"

"Eldest Young Master Wu—no, I should call him the Witch Commander! Or Marshal Yun! The Witch Commander promised to treat our entire class to a buffet after military training, so we’d all become his fan club!"

After she spoke, Zhao Yuqing picked up her phone and checked her notes. "It’s called... uh, Shangyan Seafood Buffet."

"What? Shangyan?" Li Nian, who had been lounging calmly on her bed, shot upright. Her blanket slipped off, revealing a pretty, pink silk nightgown.

Zhao Yuqing asked in surprise, "Nian Nian, have you been there?"

Liu Qian and Wang Ling also looked at her with curiosity. After all, the three of them weren’t from Rongcheng, so they weren’t familiar with the local food scene.

’He really is rich,’ Li Nian thought. She lowered her phone, her gaze turning distant. "Shangyan is the most high-end of all the popular seafood buffets in Rongcheng. My ex-boyfriend took me there once for my birthday."

"Is the food amazing?" Liu Qian asked.

Li Nian smiled, nodding and then shaking her head. "The food is just average for Rongcheng, designed to appeal to the masses. But the prestige factor is off the charts. Dinner costs over five hundred yuan per person."

The price left the other three girls completely stunned.

Zhao Yuqing snapped out of it, grabbing her phone. "That’s too expensive, that’s not right! I should call Wu Yun and talk to him about picking a different place!"

"Don’t!"

"Don’t!"

Li Nian and Liu Qian said in unison.

The two exchanged a look before Li Nian spoke up. "Since Wu Yun was the one who suggested it, he obviously doesn’t think twice about the cost. Think about it—his Lamborghini costs over eight million! We don’t need to worry about his finances for him."

"Exactly! If people in our class find out you were the one who changed the location, they might hold it against you. Being class monitor is hard enough! This time, just be the messenger and organizer. Don’t get overly involved!" Liu Qian added.

Zhao Yuqing thought about it and decided not to press the issue. She sent out the information as a group announcement and also informed their counselor, Li Yan, about Wu Yun’s invitation.
