Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Returning to School
After lunch, and after letting Wu Ying and Jiang Xinyi each experience the Big Black Bull’s speed, Wu Yun finally drove off. He headed for Rongcheng East Station. Wen Meng’s high-speed train was due to arrive in forty minutes, so it was the perfect time to leave.
While waiting at a red light, Wu Yun got a call from his class president, Zhao Yuqing.
The moment he answered, Zhao Yuqing’s slightly resentful voice came through the car’s Bluetooth. "Wu Yun! Eldest Young Master Wu! When is Your Highness planning on gracing the school with your presence? The department and the student council are hounding me every day about this welcome party, asking when you’re going to submit your act!"
Hearing Zhao Yuqing’s barrage of words, Wu Yun forced a smile. "Madam President, please try to understand. I won’t be able to come to school until the day after tomorrow. I only got back to Rongcheng last night, and I still have a lot to take care of!"
"Oh, for heaven’s sake, Eldest Young Master Wu, can’t you just spare some time to come to school tonight?! It’ll only take ten or twenty minutes. Just perform for everyone, and then you can register your act. If it goes well, you’ll only need to show up once for the rehearsal!"
If it weren’t for the fact that no one else in the class had signed up for an act, why would she, Zhao Yuqing, be begging and pleading, desperately clinging to Wu Yun like this?
Besides, Wu Yun had bailed on military training on the second day. So when it came time to nominate an act, the class had unanimously decided that Wu Yun had to be the one to go on stage.
Wu Yun thought for a moment. ’Looks like I don’t have much going on today, anyway. The main reason I don’t want to go to school is to avoid military training. Besides, I already got my advisor to excuse me from the entire training period.’ He didn’t care whether he got a grade for it or not.
"Madam President, don’t worry! It’s just the preliminary audition. It’s not even guaranteed that it’ll get picked for the university’s main welcome party," Wu Yun said nonchalantly.
He was only attending university to experience a life different from his previous one. Participating in this performance was just a way to add a little entertainment to his life.
"Great, it’s a date then! Seven o’clock tonight at the Arts Center. I’ll wait for you at the entrance. Military training assembly is starting, gotta go! BEEP... BEEP... BEEP..."
Hearing the dial tone, Wu Yun shook his head helplessly. ’Well, I only have myself to blame for agreeing so readily in the first place.’
Rongcheng East Station was one of the largest railway passenger stations in the central and western regions. It was a comprehensive transportation hub integrating rail, subway, long-distance buses, and city buses.
So by the time Wu Yun arrived at the East Station, the area was already bustling with cars and crowds of people.
Line 2 had only recently opened, so not many people were taking the subway yet. This resulted in a convergence of traffic in the surrounding area, with crowds nearly as large as those during the Spring Festival travel rush.
With other cars making way for him, Wu Yun found a spot in the parking lot and stopped.
Pushing open the scissor doors, Wu Yun walked towards the arrivals exit under the watchful eyes of several people in the parking lot.
Every city’s train station had the same kind of scene.
"Taxi, taxi! Cheap!"
"Buddy, need a motorcycle taxi?"
"[Destination]! Need two more, leaving right away!"
"Hotel!"
...
After turning down a number of them, the touts saw that Wu Yun was focused on the arrivals gate and didn’t bother him further.
"Senior! Where are you? I’m already waiting for you at the exit." Wu Yun sent a message to Wen Meng.
He quickly received a reply: "The train is braking now, about to pull into the station. Almost there!"
As a dance student, Wen Meng naturally possessed a sensual and trendy aura.
Among the crowd emerging from the station, Wen Meng, at 173 centimeters tall, stood head and shoulders above the rest, especially in the south.
Her slightly tight white t-shirt accentuated her full bust, while her long legs, revealed by a hip-hugging denim miniskirt, moved with a steady rhythm, capturing the attention of many people at the entrance.
As she slowly walked out from the station’s interior, Wen Meng found the bright outdoor light jarring. Shielding her eyes with a hand on her forehead, she finally spotted Wu Yun waving at her from a corner.
Carrying her small bag, Wen Meng quickened her pace and threw herself directly into Wu Yun’s arms, leaving an unknown number of men wishing they could take his place.
"Senior, didn’t you say you were coming back tonight?" Wu Yun took a step back with his right foot to brace against her impact, lowering his head to whisper softly.
Wen Meng looked up, revealing pearly white teeth, her eyes crinkling into slits with happiness. "I missed you, so I came back early!"
Wu Yun released her and took the small bag with her clothes, a smirk playing on his lips. "Senior, I think you just wanted to eat me up!"
Wu Yun recalled Wen Meng’s passion. If it weren’t for his well-rounded physical fitness score of 89, he really wouldn’t have been able to handle her.
Wen Meng put on a shy expression. "That’s only a small part of the reason." After speaking, she even made a gesture with her hand to indicate a certain length.
"Oh! Let’s go, let’s go! Let’s hurry home!" Wen Meng looped her arm through Wu Yun’s, unable to withstand the way he was looking at her.
Watching the two of them leave, a few men gathered together and started talking, letting out lewd, sneering laughs.
Wen Meng changed the subject, smiling as she said, "Junior, did you miss me while you were away for so long?"
Her words reminded Wu Yun of his time in Modu and the Capital City. Every night, like clockwork, Wen Meng would send him a gorgeous selfie. Her exaggerated curves would get his blood boiling, and as a result, it was Qi Fei and Bai Yue who had to bear the consequences.
Wu Yun laughed and feigned a scolding tone. "You little minx, what was the big idea, sending me a different selfie every day?"
Wu Yun’s expression turned serious as he looked at Wen Meng. "I especially liked the photos of you in yoga pants!"
Wen Meng let out a happy laugh, her chest jiggling slightly as her body shook.
Once they were in the car, Wen Meng said, "I bought yoga pants in other colors, you know~"
"What are we waiting for, then! Home, first!"
That evening, the two of them just had a simple bowl of noodles at home.
When Wen Meng heard that Wu Yun was going to the Arts Center to confirm his act for the department’s freshman welcome party, which was also the preliminary audition for the university’s main party, she clung to his arm, wanting to go with him and see.
"Alright! We can just treat it as a stroll and walk over," Wu Yun agreed with a smile.
Shida Modern Garden was right next to the Shida Chenglong Campus. It was just after dinner time, and the streets outside were filled with freshmen in military training uniforms, strolling around in groups.
A fruit vendor on the roadside was grinning from ear to ear, his hands constantly busy weighing fruit on an electronic scale.
Many small vendors with pushcarts were parked along the street, their various speakers blaring out discount announcements or sales pitches. The night market was incredibly lively.
"You guys have it so good now!" Wen Meng said, looking at the vendors. "When we first came here, the area outside the school was all still under development and construction. It wasn’t lively at all, just desolate as soon as you stepped out."
Wu Yun smiled and said, "Well, you’re enjoying the convenience now, aren’t you? You still have two years until graduation!"
After saying this, Wu Yun pulled Wen Meng aside to avoid a few approaching boys in military training uniforms, and they entered the school through a small side gate.
They left behind a few boys who kept turning their heads to look back.
As seven o’clock approached, the campus was at its liveliest. Whether it was freshmen or upperclassmen, strolling the paths or wandering the track fields had become a tradition at every university.
Even so, this handsome man and beautiful woman, Wu Yun and Wen Meng, continuously drew the gazes of both male and female students, which even sparked a few conflicts.
"What are you looking at?!" Someone’s ear was twisted forty-five degrees.
"Ow, ow, ow! Aren’t you looking at that guy too?!"
"You think you’re in the right?! I was looking at his face. Where were *you* looking!?"
