Chapter 36: Seven Steps Of Supreme (Part 1)
William suddenly found himself standing in a pitch-black space, with not even a speck of light in sight.
For a brief moment, a look of confusion flashed across his green eyes. But the next instant, he remembered what had just happened and his expression changed.
’Where is this place?’ He wondered with a frown, trying to remain calm as he knew that panicking in a situation like this would only make things worse.
He remembered that he had been looking at the statue with his father and Samuel when it suddenly trembled slightly, and the next thing he knew, he was here.
Looking down at himself, William discovered that he had become an ordinary person once again.
His terrifying physical strength and Astral Energy were gone, making him no different from the version of himself that had yet to begin practicing the Supreme Star Scripture.
Suddenly, William remembered the day he had been sent back to the past, and his heart skipped a beat.
He still remembered that when he had been sent back into the past, he had floated through a place very similar to this endless darkness, without even a speck of light.
Back then, he hadn’t even been able to move his body. Although he could move freely now, he still couldn’t help but feel a trace of nervousness, wondering if his soul was being sent back to the original timeline.
If he really were sent back to the original timeline... wouldn’t he die?
’Damn it. What kind of bullshit heirloom is this? It’s definitely a demonic statue...’ William cursed inwardly, wishing he could smash that damned statue into pieces.
Just as William was beginning to panic, thinking that the statue might actually be sending him back to the original timeline, a few specks of light suddenly appeared in the darkness.
One... Two... Three...
The specks of light continued to multiply until they eventually filled the entire darkness.
William looked at the tiny lights and soon realized they were not specks of light at all—they were stars.
With the starlight illuminating the surroundings, William looked around and discovered that he seemed to be standing high above the heavens, amidst countless stars.
Every single star shone brilliantly, radiating a gentle light that instinctively calmed one’s heart.
William’s tense nerves relaxed slightly upon seeing the magnificent sight, and he once again examined his surroundings.
"It seems I was wrong. That evil statue isn’t sending me back to the original timeline."
As he was pondering this, William suddenly noticed the faint silhouette of a figure standing in the distance.
The distance was enormous, making it impossible for him to see clearly, but he could vaguely make out the outline of a man dressed in a long white robe, holding a sword in his right hand.
Looking at the figure’s attire, William couldn’t help but think of the evil statue he had seen earlier.
Why was he calling it evil?
Because that damned thing had sent him to who knew where so calling it evil was perfectly justified.
The figure stood with its back facing William and, just like him, remained silently standing amidst the stars.
For some reason, William had the strange feeling that whoever this person was... he was deliberately trying to look cool.
While William was lost in thought, the figure suddenly moved and took a single step forward.
The instant that step landed, William’s expression changed as he could feel an invisible pressure engulf the entire world.
It wasn’t directed specifically at him, nor did it intentionally harm him, but it gave him the overwhelming sensation that an enormous mountain had descended upon the world.
Then the figure took a second step.
The pressure instantly intensified, making William feel as though his body and internal organs would collapse at any moment.
Third Step!
As the figure took the third step, the pressure soared to an unimaginable level and William was slammed to the ground without the slightest ability to resist.
’Fuk... What the hell is going on?’ William cried inwardly as he felt his body slowly collapsing, while his internal organs seemed to be crushed into meat paste.
An unbearable pain spread throughout his body, making him feel dizzy.
Just then, a golden light suddenly enveloped him and the terrifying pressure instantly vanished.
Even the injuries throughout his body recovered in an instant, as though he had never been hurt.
Fourth Step!
The figure did not stop after the third step and calmly took a fourth one.
The moment his foot landed, the entire world seemed to resonate with him.
Invisible ripples spread throughout space, as though reality itself was on the verge of collapsing.
Fifth Step!
Bang!
The surrounding space shattered apart, revealing countless pitch-black vortices that seemed to lead toward unknown worlds.
Sixth Step!
Rumble!
The entire starry sky began to tremble violently.
Every single star that William could see shook intensely, as though they were about to explode at any moment.
Cold sweat covered William’s forehead, and an expression of both awe and horror appeared on his face.
Even with his unwavering will, he couldn’t remain calm before such overwhelming power as it was the first time in both of his lives that he had witnessed something of this magnitude.
The figure was merely walking, yet every single step resonated with the very laws of the world, causing catastrophic phenomena beyond imagination.
The figure paused briefly after taking the sixth step, seemingly looking toward the trembling stars that appeared ready to explode.
Suddenly, William felt the figure glance at him for the briefest of moments before taking another step forward.
Seventh Step!
BOOOOOOM! BOOOOOOM! BOOOOOOM! - - - -
Supernova-like explosions engulfed the entire world as every single star exploded simultaneously.
Space collapsed and everything was swallowed by endless darkness.
The darkness surged forward, and before William’s horrified eyes, it engulfed him as well.
Just as the darkness swallowed him whole, he felt a burning sensation on the back of his left hand, as though something had appeared there.
At the very same moment, despite his status window still being locked, a notification suddenly flashed before his eyes out of nowhere.
