Chapter 1317: Chapter 1317: I Will Always Wait for Her
Cedric Fisher and Thomas Fisher stood up and walked out of the living room. Autumn York also got up, preparing to follow them, but just as she lifted her foot, she heard Cedric Fisher’s voice from the door, "Don’t follow us, I want to talk with Thomas alone."
As he stepped out of the living room, he instinctively turned back to glance at her. He saw her standing up, knowing she wanted to come along, so he promptly stopped her.
After stopping Autumn York from following, Cedric Fisher and Thomas Fisher went to the study. As soon as they entered, Cedric spoke directly, "Thomas! What’s going on between you and Evelyn? Why did you join forces to deceive us? I want to hear your honest thoughts."
He didn’t want to hear any grandiose reasons, nor more lies; he wanted to hear his son’s true feelings, his honest thoughts.
Thomas thought he and Evelyn’s act was flawless or at least convincing enough, but what he didn’t expect was that his dad had seen through their deception all along.
Since his dad had figured it out, there was no need to play tricks in front of someone wise. He straightened up, looked earnestly at his father, "I don’t want to be forced by Mom to go on blind dates anymore."
He just said this one sentence, and then remained silent.
"Is it because of Alice Turner?" Cedric Fisher looked at his son standing in front of him; he found the answer in his son’s eyes, yet he patiently waited for his son to give him an answer.
This was the first time in the four years since Alice Turner left that Thomas Fisher heard Cedric mention her, which stirred something uncomfortable in his heart. He nodded gloomily, "Yes."
Alice! Where have you gone? Why haven’t you come back yet? Do you not miss me at all?
I miss you very much, insanely miss you.
"Do you... do you know when she’ll come back? If she never comes back in this life, will you keep waiting for her?" It’s impossible that she won’t come back in this lifetime; her parents are here, even if she doesn’t miss his son, she can’t not miss her parents.
Cedric Fisher was certain Alice would return, but he didn’t know when. He really couldn’t predict. These things are not tangible or foreseeable.
Thomas Fisher nodded firmly, "I will wait for her as long as it takes. If she doesn’t come back for a day, I’ll wait a day; if a year, I’ll wait a year; if ten years, I’ll wait ten years. I will wait until the day I can’t wait anymore."
Hopefully, she won’t let him wait until his dying day, he doesn’t want to leave this world with regrets.
"As a man, I admire your courage and perseverance, but as your father, such actions would sadden your mother." Cedric Fisher patted Thomas on the shoulder—not as a father to a son, but as one man to another, "Don’t be so pessimistic and negative; she will definitely come back."
His son had already become a strong, independent man. Cedric believed his son could handle these matters.
It had been a long time since Thomas Fisher had such a heartfelt talk with his dad. He had always thought his father would oppose him, but in reality, he had underestimated his dad.
"Dad! Thank you! Thank you for your understanding and support."
He was moved by his father’s gesture, so much that his eyes turned red with emotion.
