Everyone ate in silence with their heads down. The only sound you could hear was the cutlery. Huang, Zihan, and Yinglun looked at Eden thinking he would feel awkward too but he was eating leisurely. Huang’s eyes flashed with disdain, not only does the entire staff think Eden is the leader but he is even sitting at the head of the table. They all looked at the doors when someone came in. Yan walked to them and apologized:
"Hello, I’m sorry to be late my brothers needed me on a project."
Zihan smiled and said:
"It’s okay have a seat."
When Yan took a seat next to Yinglun they were surprised to see that there was already an empty plate waiting for him like he was expected. They looked at Eden wondering how much of their life he knows. Yan eats dinner with them every night so they were expecting him but how did Eden know?
When his plate was filled Yan smiled at the maid and looked at the head of the table. There was a young man on his cellphone seemingly unbothered by the fact that he just arrived. He couldn’t understand why Huang wasn’t sitting at the head of the table as usual. He tilted his head trying to see who it is.
Eden looked up and met his eyes. He smiled and said:
"Hello, I’m Eden."
Yan realized why he felt like he recognized him somehow. He spent a lot of time with his grandfather growing up and he was best friend with Ning who was always with his shy grandson. It seems like his grandson grew up and he’s back, all he knew is that he moved away when Ning passed.
Yan smiled and said:
"Hello, we’ve met before with our grandfather."
Yan felt a little awkward when he saw that Eden had no recollection of him, he didn’t forget him how could he? He is certainly more memorable than Eden. Yinglun looked at Eden angrily and yelled:
"He’s Yan how could you forget my fiance?"
Eden sneered:
"Contrary to you I use my brain so I tend to forget the trivial things."
Yinglun looked at him wide-eyed her face red in anger and humiliation. Not only is Eden calling her a fool but he’s saying that Yan is trivial. She was about to yell at him but she stopped when Eden moved on and looked at Yan with a genuine smile.
"Well, it’s nice to see you again Yan."
Yan felt a little stunned by his beautiful smile, he smiled back.
"You too Eden."
He looked down eating in silence. He couldn’t understand why Huang wasn’t at the head of the table but now he knows why. It seems like Eden is the real master of this house. The fact that Yinglun’s parents didn’t say anything when he insulted her proves it, that’s why he didn’t say anything either. Before Huang and Zihan he had never met such terrible parents, they would let Yinglun get away with murder. Seems like Huang was just a placeholder. Since Yinglun is useless now he’ll end their engagement. He only agreed to marry her to run Z Elixir because he knows that Wang Elements will never be his.
But now it’s clear that Eden plans on leading the family so there’s no need for him to stick around anymore. Huang told him he would give him a high position in the company when they marry but Eden will never do that when they’re strangers. He didn’t even recognize him. To think he wasted so many years being nice to that brat Yinglun for nothing.
When they finished eating he watched Eden leaving with a frown. He doesn’t know what happened to him but he looks different than the shy kid from before. Then again everyone grows up.
When Eden was out of sight Huang pulled an unsuspecting Yan to an empty room. Yan looked at him surprised when he checked everywhere to make sure they weren’t being listened to. Huang said:
"We need your help."
Yan immediately answered:
"Of course whatever you need, I’m here."
He’s going to send a letter terminating his engagement to Yinglun as soon as he reaches home so he doesn’t mind playing along for a few more minutes. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Huang explained:
"As you saw Eden came back today unannounced. He tricked my father into giving him his entire inheritance including Z Elixir just before he died. My father put me in charge of it until he turns 18 which will be in a couple of weeks. I need him to sign over the inheritance and finish an experiment my father had started."
Hearing that Yan knew where he was going. It was clear that Huang and the rest of the family wants Eden gone.
He thought a few seconds, with Eden gone his title at the company, will be back. He could negotiate more if he is the one who deals with Eden for good. Yan said:
"I’ll do whatever you want me to if I can start working at Z Elixir as a leader as soon as the company is yours."
Huang’s eyes lit up and he said:
"Of course, I already told you I want to retire in the next couple of years and if Eden finishes the experiment I’ll retire immediately and you’ll be the president."
Yan’s eyes flashed with ambition and he said:
"Then tell me what I have to do and I’ll do it."
Huang smiled greedily thinking of Eden finishing the experiment. He took a step closer and explained the plan.
Eden woke up in a good mood. After taking a relaxing bath he went down for breakfast. His family was sitting around the table already, he took a seat at the head. If he was stupid he would think his family understood his words from yesterday but he knows better. It was confirmed when Huang called him and confessed:
"I’ve been feeling guilty by the way we’ve been acting since father passed and yesterday I realized why. We weren’t true to his words and philosophy. It’s a good thing that you’re here and reminded us of that."
Eden smiled at his uncle then he looked at his aunt and cousin.
"Do you feel the same as well?"
They both put on a smile that looked quite genuine, Eden was impressed. Zihan echoed:
"We do, your uncle is right."
Eden smiled brighter and looked solely at his cousin.
"Cousin?"
Yinglun felt like slapping the smile off of Eden’s face but she answered:
"I do too, I was only angry yesterday because I knew that you were right."
Eden smiled sweetly but he felt like rolling his eyes. Garbage family, that’s all he ever gets.

"What do you plan on doing until you turn 20?"
Eden answered:
"Be an Alchemist, I’ll work in a laboratory at Z Elixir as I did before."
Huang asked:
"Are you going to use your grandfather’s laboratory?"
Eden shook his head and answered his eyes flashing with pain:
"I don’t feel ready yet."
Huang nodded. It’s fine he doesn’t want Eden to tell everyone that his father discovered transmutation yet. Once he is under his control he’ll make him open it and complete it. He knows that his father was close and the only person who can finish it is Eden, he knows him and his work better than anyone. If he knew he was close to figuring it out he would have waited a little longer before killing him.
Eden had a laboratory reserved at Z Elixir, after working all morning he decided to eat at a restaurant. He took a seat and waited for a waitress to come to get his order.
When Yan spotted him he passed by him hoping Eden would call his name. Yan was stunned when he tugged on his hand. He couldn’t hide his surprise. Eden blushed slightly and said:
"Sorry."
Yan smiled.
"It’s okay. What are you doing here?"
"I just came to eat lunch. Would you like to join me?"
Yan took a seat after agreeing.
He didn’t think it would be this easy but it seems like Eden is desperate to have friends. He looked at his flushed cheeks and the way Eden avoided his eyes with a triumphant smile. Now he understands why it’s so easy. As they ate they talked and got to know each other better. It was clear to him that all Eden wants to do is make his grandfather proud. When they finished eating they walked out of the restaurant. Eden smiled and said:
"Thank you for having lunch with me."
Yan smiled warmly.
"We should always have lunch together."
Eden’s eyes lit up and he immediately nodded. He ordered:
"Give me your number."
Eden gave him his number an enthusiastic smile on his face. Yan kissed his cheek and left. Seems like Eden has a crush on him, he’ll be able to work faster. He hates working for his brothers, he should be the president not them. He’ll never back down until he is the president of a company and what better than to be the one of Z Elixir? If for that he has to sacrifice Eden then so be it.
Eden looked at the clown leave with ridicule after wiping his cheek. He doesn’t give a damn that the twins are Yan’s brothers, he is going to pay with his life for what he did to him. But before he dies he’ll make him suffer. Eden smiled cruelly and left for his laboratory.
