Chapter 260: Heretic / 1.21 : The truth
Kian looked at Lucian and then twirled his hand. Two figures appeared. They all recognized Elian, but the other was a stranger. They all listened as Elian spoke about his plan to kill Lucian, and to sit on the throne next to Kian, once he deals with the rest of his family.
When they had seen enough, Kian waved his hand and the shadows disappeared. Lucian looked at Kian again and asked:
"Were you not going to tell me?"
Before they spoke, he’s positive that Kian wasn’t. Kian looked at Lucian, biting his lip. He looked at him teary-eyed, his heart pulsing out of his chest. He doesn’t want to lie to him, but he’s not sure how Lucian will react.
He wants their relationship to be real, and it can’t be if he isn’t honest. Lucian tilted his head and said:
"You said you wouldn’t keep anything from me."
He can tell that Kian is scared to admit something. Kian looked at him and murmured:
"A couple of days ago, I noticed that Elian’s behavior was different when he would visit me. I put a spell on him to find out, and heard his conversation with his associate."
"You weren’t planning on telling me, were you."
It wasn’t a question, and Kian was aware of it.
"I was going to deal with him before I leave."
He looked down and murmured:
"Even if I thought you hated me, I couldn’t let you get harmed or die. I was going to put a catnap spell on him."
He was going to put a sleeping spell on Elian, so he would never wake up. He would never let anyone harm Lucian. Lucian looked at Kian, that’s what he was worried about? It seems like he was scared about how he would react to what he was planning to do.
He smiled and looked at his parents. They were smiling as well. He lifted his head and saw that his cute bunny was close to tears, and was working hard not to cry.
"I’m not upset. You had my back. Even if Elian is my brother, he intended to kill me. We gave him the benefit of the doubt for the longest time. If anything, your plan for dealing with him was far too nice."
Kian let out a breath and couldn’t stop himself from crying anymore. Lucian pulled him into his embrace and caressed his back. He feels relieved to see that they’re not upset. Even if Elian is the devil, he is still family to them.
He didn’t want Lucian and his parents to hate him for it. He swore he wouldn’t keep anything from Lucian, that’s why he told him even if he didn’t have to. He pulled back, and Lucian wiped his tears.
Arabella smiled. She doesn’t understand how someone as sweet as Kian, can be related to such terrible people. She said:
"You were protecting Lucian. You shouldn’t feel upset about it."
Kian nodded.
He looked at the king, and he smiled at him, Kian smiled back. He feels like a big weight has been lifted off his shoulders. He was so worried about this. But it’s clear that they were aware of Elian’s nefarious intentions.
Arabella, who could tell why Kian was uncomfortable before when she asked about marriage, smiled and said:
"So we’ll go back to the original treaty?"
Kian said:
"I wrote a new treaty that excludes joining both our families by marriage."
They all looked at Kian surprised. Lucian looked at him and asked:
"You don’t want to marry me?"
Kian immediately said:
"I just think that it will make the treaty more legitimate if it’s not contingent on marriage. Witches and vampires should unite, but not because the Celestinos and Novas are allied by marriage. I understand what my mother was doing when she wrote the treaty, but I think we’ve passed the times when two families have to become one to respect a treaty."
But most importantly, he doesn’t want people to think that he and Lucian are together because of an accord. What they have is independent of the treaty, and he wants it to be clear.
Kian looked at the king and queen, and they seemed to agree. He looked at Lucian and saw that he looked disappointed. He frowned, but his brows shot up when he thought about what he asked before. He asked stunned:
"Y-you want to marry me?"
Lucian said:
"I do, but, It doesn’t seem like you do."
Kian clasped his hand tightly and said with flushed cheeks:
"I do."
Lucian looked into his eyes and asked:
"Then why would you take it out of the treaty?"
"I don’t want people to think that we’re only together because of it. I just thought it would be best to separate the two."
Even if they met because of it, he didn’t develop feelings because of a piece of paper. Lucian hugged his bunny with a bright smile. It’s true that when people discover what Serena and his family did, they’ll think that he is only back with Kian because of the treaty.
He understands why he would take that off. As long as he wishes to marry him, he’s okay. And he doesn’t want Kian to think that that’s why he married him either. He pulled back and said:
"I wish to marry you because I want us to be bound in a manner I’ve never been with anyone."
Kian felt his heartbeat quicken. He would like to be bonded with him in that way too. He never reflected on marriage before, but he’s sure he would like to be, with Lucian. He murmured:
"I wish that too."
The king and queen smiled.
Lucian kissed his forehead and Kian smiled. The king asked:
"How do you intend to deal with your family?"
Kian thought and asked:
"How do you intend to deal with Elian? If you don’t have a plan, I have one that might solve both our problems. In the end, the three of them we’ll be locked in purgatory for eternity right after the world finds out about their shameful plan."
Purgatory is a prison for witches and vampires. It’s hell but on earth, and he knows that they’ll live a nightmare there. Lucian looked at his parents and nodded. He trusts Kian, so he’s in with whatever he wants. The king said:
"If you have a plan, we’ll go along."
Kian smiled. The king asked:
"After what happened yesterday, Beast Warfare was canceled for the next two days. Will you have enough time?"
Kian nodded.
"I will."
Magnus said:
"Then let’s finish the treaty by tomorrow. Like that, we’ll announce that it’s been signed."
Kian waved his hand, and a treaty appeared. He handed it to Magnus and told:
"I believe you’ll appreciate the changes I made. Read it and if you require things to be changed, please let me know."
Magnus studied it using his vampire speed and looked at Kian surprised. Kian said:
"I just want vampires and witches to feed and practice witchcraft without having to empty their pockets. We depend on each other and keep the other’s side economy going. So let’s just be fair and have the same price. I don’t mind using revenue from the potions sales to make sure that everyone is happy." freewebnoveℓ.com
The king and queen were shocked. They know that producing Sanguin is pricier than what they spend on the ingredients the witches need. There are plants, so you only need seeds. But Kian still wants to apply the same price for each side. That means he won’t make any benefice, on the contrary, he’ll have to spend money.
The king said:
"We’ll pay half of the out-of-pocket expenses. That way, it will truly be fair." fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Kian smiled and said:
"Ok, I’ll add it before this afternoon’s meeting."
The king nodded.
