Chapter 256: Heretic / 1.17 : Bunny

Kian looked at Lucian attentively. He’s never seen him so angry before. If he wasn’t as strong as him, he would’ve suffocated a long time ago. After calming down, Lucian asked:

"Then why did you pass out?"

Kian said:

"I called on the powers of the heavens when I killed the Jiaolong. I didn’t want it to hurt someone apart from Eben and Aurelia."

Lucian asked:

"If you knew you wouldn’t die, why were you so panicked when I was about to do that blood oath?"

Kian opened his mouth and then closed it. He glanced away and spoke uncomfortably:

"Even if you were mean, I didn’t wish you to lose half of your life."

Lucian felt stunned, hearing that. He saw how fearful Kian was. He thought he didn’t want to live, but he was scared for him.

"If you were angry with me, why did you care?"

Kian stared at him and replied angrily:

"Because unlike you, even if I was angry, I didn’t want you to lose 500 years because of me. I wanted you to have a long life."

Lucian’s eyes flashed in amusement.

"I did too. That’s why I was willing to give you those years."

Kian looked into his emerald eyes. Between the softness in them and his tender smile, it was hard not to reach out. His heartbeat quickened, and he hugged him. Lucian held on to him tightly.

Lucian was willing to go far to save him, and that touched him. He truly cares for him. He murmured:

"Thank you."

"You don’t have to thank me. I would do anything for you, Kian."

Kian pulled back and felt speechless when he saw the devotion in his eyes. Would he do anything for Lucian too? The way he panicked when he thought he would lose all those years because of him, leads him to believe that he would.

"I-I think... I would too."

Lucian smiled and asked:

"You think?"

Kian smiled and said:

"I know."

Lucian beamed and kissed his forehead. Kian blinked and his face flushed. Lucian looked at Kian’s lips when he licked them nervously. Kian who had seen it, wondered if he intends to kiss him again.

He felt nervous, but excited too. Maybe if he kisses him, he’ll be able to know if he truly has feelings for Lucian. Lucian met his eyes and asked:

"How are you going to deal with your uncle and cousin?"

Kian hid his disappointment and said:

"I want them to watch me sign the revised agreement, and see their chance to live longer pass under their noses before they die."

Lucian nodded and ordered:

"Don’t keep anything from me again."

"I won’t if you don’t either."

"I won’t, I promise."

Kian smiled and said:

"Then I won’t either, I promise too."

Lucian nodded with a smile. After a few seconds, he asked:

"Do you have feelings for me?"

Kian narrowed his eyes. He set him up. Lucian smirked.

"Don’t forget your promise."

Kian looked at him and then away.

"I’m not certain, I was sure that I only liked girls. But with you, it’s different from how I would feel about a friend."

Lucian asked:

"Do I make your heart beat faster?"

Kian nodded and his cheeks flushed.

"Do you like being close to me?"

Kian nodded again. The fact that he is sitting on his lap is proof enough.

"Are you bothered when I’m close to someone else?"

Kian nodded and he looked down sadly. He came up earlier ready to deal with Eben and his aunt, but all it took for him to lose his enthusiasm was to see Serena and Lucian be close.

Even he knows that the anger he felt isn’t the kind a friend would feel. He might know nothing about love, but that much he knows.

"I first came a few minutes before I entered the tribune and saw you and Serena laughing."

Lucian looked at Kian’s hands. They were tightened into fists.

"Did that hurt you?"

Kian swallowed and nodded. Lucian caressed his cheek and said:

"I’m sorry." freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

Kian peered into his apologetic eyes. Lucian pressed his forehead to Kian’s and said:

"It won’t happen again."

"Promise?"

"I promise, bunny."

Does he look like a bunny? Bunnies are weak and inoffensive, he shouldn’t call him that. Despite those thoughts, he couldn’t stop himself from smiling. He closed his eyes and soaked in the moment.

Serena looked out the window as she and her father drove back to the castle. Her tears kept falling, no matter how hard she tried to stop crying. She can’t believe her mother is gone.

She lost her mother when she was about to marry soon, yet all people talk about is Kian. The video of him channeling all that power and killing the Jiaolong is trending everywhere. And everybody is worried about his state since he passed out.

What hurt her most is Lucian’s behavior. She had to watch online like everyone who wasn’t there because she fainted. As soon as Kian jumped out, Lucian dropped her like she was an object.

Then he flew down when he saw what he was about to do, and caught him before his body hit the ground. Yet, he let her fall like she was worthless. Even after the way he treated him before, he put him before her.

If he isn’t dead, she’s going to lose it. If Kian hadn’t shown up and his mother had taken a seat on the side, she wouldn’t have died. She wiped her tears and looked at her father. He has shown no reaction since it happened.

She knows he is only acting strong for her.

"Father?"

When she saw he was lost in thought, she called again:

"Father?"

Cayus woke up and looked at her. He asked:

"What is it?"

"What are we going to do now?"

Cayus pulled her into his embrace and said:

"We’ll do what your mother wanted and take everything away from Kian including his life. You must be strong and show everyone that even during tragedy, you’ll stay a powerful leader. Okay?"

Serena held her father tighter and promised:

"I’ll stay strong."

When they arrived at the castle, they spoke with the king and queen for a few minutes. They looked worried about them.

When they were done, they entered the elevator for the third floor. They want to see in what state Kian is. They had to spend hours there, to see if they could get the body of Aurelia out of the Jiaolong, but it was impossible.

Even if it’s late, and he is probably asleep, they have to see. When he was about to knock, Albert walked out of the room. As soon as he did and closed the door, they saw a light come out from under the door.

Cayus reached out to open the door, but Albert said:

"Master said he doesn’t want to be bothered. He is upset."

Cayus asked:

"How is he physically?"

Albert said:

"He looked exhausted, mentally too."

When Cayus was about to open the door, he hit a field. Seems like Kian doesn’t want anyone to see his weak state.

He looked at his daughter and said:

"Let’s go to bed until tomorrow."

Serena nodded and left. She couldn’t help but look at the corridor, hoping she would see Lucian before entering the elevator but didn’t.
