Chapter 35: Interesting Rewards
Kayla stared at Amon, slightly surprised by his words.
A moment later, she chuckled and played along with his joke.
"I guess so."
The two watched Joy excuse herself and return to commanding the other Armed Forces personnel to clean up the blood and question the civilians nearby.
Meanwhile, Amon quietly excused himself.
"Let me cross-check the house to ensure everything is where it should be."
Hearing his words, Kayla nodded.
"Alright, stay safe," she said with a smile.
Amon nodded and walked away with measured steps, as though he were genuinely inspecting the house.
As soon as he slipped through the kitchen’s back door, he glanced around to ensure nobody was paying attention to his movements.
Afterward, he linked to the connection he shared with Moon and vanished from his spot.
He had specifically instructed Moon to leave Jethro alive so he could ask him a few questions. More specifically, he wanted to know who had targeted them this time.
He couldn’t let such a person walk free.
The wind rustled faintly as Amon’s figure faded away.
Inside the abandoned warehouse, the place the Butcher had previously used to change, the air rippled slightly and Amon appeared with a calm expression on his face.
For a brief moment, he was surprised by the sensation lingering on his body.
The teleportation felt magical.
One moment he was back at home.
The next, he was here.
A faint smile touched Amon’s lips.
It quickly disappeared.
His expression turned cold the moment his gaze landed on Jethro.
An intense killing intent erupted from him instantly, suffocating the atmosphere.
Amon reeked of bloodlust.
Jethro could tell that Amon wanted to kill him.
However, that wasn’t what caused his eyes to bulge.
"You! You-"
Jethro’s heart trembled with alarm as he stared at Amon.
"You’re an awakened!" Jethro finally spat, his eyes filled with disbelief and shock.
Who would have expected that the abandoned son of the Embermoon Family had secretly become such a terrifying awakened?
And he even seemed to be the master of the monster who had taken all of them down.
Jethro’s mouth hung open.
He tried to move.
He wanted to inform the Demon Infant Organization.
He had to inform them!
Unfortunately, his entire body had been deliberately incapacitated by Moon under Amon’s orders.
Amon finally closed the distance between them.
Bending down, he grabbed Jethro’s face and forced him to meet his gaze.
Jethro stared back silently.
"Tell me," Amon said, his voice eerily calm, "who sent you?"
"Hahahaha..."
Jethro burst into laughter.
"What are you going to do even if you know who sent me? Challenge them? Let me tell you, you’re just a small fry compared to the Demon Infant Organization. Don’t think because you’ve gained a little strength that you can compe-"
Bang!
His words abruptly ended as his head exploded.
Blood splattered across the warehouse floor.
Amon’s blood-soaked hand trembled slightly.
’I lost control...’
The instant he heard the words Demon Infant Organization, something inside his mind snapped.
His body had moved instinctively.
’At least I got the information on who targeted me.’
Amon slowly stood to his feet.
"Dispose of the body cleanly."
His voice was calm.
Steady.
As though he hadn’t just killed another human being.
He accepted the cloth Moon handed him and calmly wiped the blood from his hand.
"You have a new mission."
Moon stood silently before him.
"Clear all the dungeons within the city. Start with the smaller ones, then gradually move to the larger ones. Once you reach C-rank, clear the B-rank dungeon the city has been struggling to deal with."
Amon calmly explained the next course of action.
His tone remained even throughout.
"After all that, our next target is the Demon Infant Organization."
His eyes turned cold.
"They’ve caused enough trouble for my wife and me..."
He paused briefly before adding,
"...and my precious little daughter."
Although Moon possessed no consciousness of his own, Amon found it strangely comforting speaking his thoughts aloud to the clone.
He had been a loner in his previous life.
Even after arriving in this world, he had spent much of his time alone.
As a result, he still found it difficult to truly connect with people.
In a way, he could be considered introverted.
He had never had many friends.
Perhaps that was why he preferred handling everything himself.
Moon received the order without the slightest reaction.
"I’ll head back. I’ll keep up with your progress in the meantime."
Amon was referring to their shared perception, which allowed him to observe Moon’s progress as he carried out the mission.
The only significant threats remaining, aside from criminals and heretics, were the dungeons and the Demon Infant Organization.
Using one, he intended to eliminate the other.
Everything aligned perfectly within Amon’s mind.
And with that, he vanished.
Moon immediately got to work.
After pouring fuel over Jethro’s corpse, he set it ablaze.
He stood there for several seconds, ensuring the body was thoroughly charred before disappearing as well.
The Cold Moon District was about to become restless once again.

Amon reappeared at his previous location, almost as though he had never left at all.
’It seems I need to get a spatial teleportation technique for myself as well.’
Amon was genuinely astonished by how wondrous the technique felt.
Was this what Moon experienced every time he used it?
Amon felt slightly jealous.
For the first time, he found himself mildly regretting giving Moon the Spatial Teleportation Technique.
’There’s no point dwelling on it. I’m sure I’ll obtain something better, either through signing in or purchasing techniques.’
Shaking his head, he quickly dismissed the thought.
It wasn’t worth worrying over.
Amon turned and was about to step back inside when he suddenly froze.
[Ding! System has finished its upgrade.]
[Do you wish to sign in?]
A smile slowly spread across Amon’s handsome face. freewebnoveℓ.com
Just in time.
He was genuinely curious about what rewards the upgraded sign-in would provide.
Hopefully it wasn’t something too bad.
’Alright, System. Sign in.’
