Chapter 34: Unreliable Armed Forces

"Wh—what are you?" jethro stared at this sight with a dumbfounded look. No human was capable of this!

The monarch of death tilted his head ever so slowly as though It was staring at the human before it in curiousity.

Swish! Swish!

Jethro wasnt even able to see as the monarch of death executed the heaven extinguising sword art, first form.

’Unfettered spring breeze sword art...’

It was a sword art that maximixes one’s speed for a duration of the time when the sword art was executed.

Together with the damage amplification technique, it was a nightmare to all moon’s enemies!

A roar of pain tore through jethro’s throat as he was incapacitated.

With mana flowing through hunters’ bodies, they could still survive after enduring injuries as long as they werent critical like having their heads cut off or their heart destroyed.

Suddenly, sirens blasted into the surroundings. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

A loud voice boomed through a speaker overhead.

"Whoever you are, put your hands up in the air. Don’t move or we’ll be forced to—"

The voice paused as though he had seen something incredulous then a surprised voice echoed filled with shock.

"You are the one responsible for all the murders last night!!!"

An armed forces van sped rapidly towards the monarch of death location.

The stench of blood filled their nose immediately.

Moon only paused briefly before gently placing his hand on jethro’s body.

The next instant both of them vanished.

"Gone, just like that?" joy quickly jumped down from the car without it stopping and her eyes were filled with shock and surprise.

Staring at the surroundings she couldnt help wrinkling her nose, feeling a headach incoming.

Recalling the figure she just saw moments ago she couldnt help feeling he seemed familiar.

’He’s almost similar to the butcher. Could they really be freom the same faction?’ she thoought grimly as she slowed to a stop.

"Surround the perimeters. Search parties, rescue the survivors." Joy ordered as she glanced around.

Her gaze was soon drawn to a destroyed door.

’I’ve been at this house before...’ she thought and quickly recalled the handsome man from before.

Surprised she quickly rushed towards the house.

Inistially, she had suspicious about the man having connections with the butcher, or being the butcher himself, but that had been ruled away, now however, she couldnt help feeling something was wrong.

’Initially it was the butcher and not its the monarch of death. And both of them seem to be from the same faction... could there be a connection between the two?’ she quickly accessed inwardly.

In moments she arrived before the door.

Glancing inside, the noticed the couple standing together.

There was a look of fear on the woman’s face as she held her baby with care.

On the other hand, the man was eerily calm as always. It was almost as thoguh he hadnt been worried about the attack in the first place.

’There’s really something suspicious about him.’

"Officer," amon claled out with a warm smile, "any later and I and my family would have been gone. We really cant thank you enough."

Joy was surprised by amon’s sudden polite gesture and found it hard to accept.

"Actually..." she paused then realised she didnt know what happened here in the first place

"What happened here?" she raised a brow.

"You dont know?" amon asked, seeming taken aback.

"I and my surbodinates just arrived." Joy said with some regret.

They’d only received the news late that three teams had been wiped out on the road.

After that it took them quite a bit of time to track the group down before arriving at the location.

During this time, alot could have happened. Fortunately, the couple seemed relatively safe.

Amon paused as though he was suprised.

At this moment, kayla seemed to have recollected herself to an extent.

"Its him... the monarch of death. We were about to be killed when he intervened and ended up saving us all."

Hearing her words joy was stunned.

"Ma’am, is what you’re saying true? Are you certain?" joy’s tone was serious.

Kayla nodded.

Joy fell silent.

’It seems they really are from the same faction. Do they both have a thing against people who commit crimes?’

At the armed forces organisation, they’d already begun the analysis on why all those people were killed and they found an eerie connection to them all.

Each and every one of them had commited one or two crimes.

There were also those within the prisons who had all been eliminated.

Wasnt this directly stating that anyone who commited crimes were killed?

However at the same time, there were some innocents who had been killed as well.

People who were falsely accused and imprisoned. They’d unfortunately lost their lives in the incident.

She wanted to meet the monarch of death face to face and ask him how did he feel killing all those people, knowing that there definitely could be innocents amongs them.

However, the monarch of death was gone now.

It was the same situation with her father. Circumstances forced him into what he did and yet the butcher had killed him, just like that...

’Why can’t they just let the right forces handle it.’ The more she thought about it, the more frustrated and angry joy became.

Restraining her emotions she turned to the couple with a forced smile.

"Sorry we arrived late."

"You do know I and my wife could have been killed due to your unreliable security, right?" amon finally spoke up.

He didnt look angry or dispointed, rather he still had the same calm expression as always.

It always made joy’s heart subconciously skip a beat.

"I know that. And we appoligise for all the inconvenience caused. All loses will be compensated. I hope you can understand. A situation happened last night and we’re trying out best to handle it."

Hearing joy’s explanation amon shook his head internally.

It was the reason why he had to take matters into his own hands.

The imagination of what would have happened if he was weak...

Amon took a deep breath, forcing the thougth down and nodded.

"Alright."

Joy glanced around briefly before settling her gaze back on the group.

"Is there anything you can tell me about the monarch of death? Anything at all..." she lingered, waiting for their reply.

Amon shook his head.

"I unfortuantely have no answer for you."

Kayla also shook her head as well.

"Aside from saving us, he didnt say a word and just seemingly vanished."

"Alright." Joy nodded and forced a smile.

"The perimeters will be surrounded for now and an investigation will be conducted. I hope that won’t interfere with your peace?"

"Its alright. There’s nothing we can do about either ways. We’re just ordinary civilians." Amon replied with a relaxed smile.

Joy felt there was something off about his words but ultimately just shook her head, placing her suspicion away.

For now there were more important matters to handle.

"Are you alright?" amon asked kayla with a slightly worried expression.

Kayla shook her head in a daze.

"I guess I am. I’m just a little shaken that’s all." She paused briefly then asked curiously, "why do you think he saved us? The monarch of death..."

Amon stared at her, and chose his words carefully.

Ultimately he chukled.

"Who knows?"

After a pause he added, "At least its nice knowing we have a protector, right?"
