Chapter 20: Second Dungeon
Amon soon left the Academy.
Upon arriving outside, he took out his phone and browsed through the web, searching for his next target.
This time, it was a dungeon that had appeared just outside the Cold Moon District.
Meanwhile, news of Amon’s heroic deed continued spreading across social media, creating another wave of discussion throughout the internet.
Everyone was taken aback by the fact that the notorious Butcher had actually performed a heroic act.
A few speculated that perhaps The Butcher was only doing this to atone for his sins and avoid being arrested by government agencies.
However, their shock for the day was far from over.
Amon soon arrived at the dungeon outside the Cold Moon District.
Compared to the previous dungeon, this place was far quieter.
Just like before, there were no reporters or military personnel.
Only a few F-rank hunters stood nearby, staring nervously at the portal suspended in the air.
"This dungeon appeared thirty minutes ago..." one man muttered, gripping the small dagger in his hand so tightly his knuckles had turned pale.
"We’re waiting for the Armed Forces to send people over."
"Apparently several beasts already crawled out earlier..." another added, lingering fear still evident in his voice.
E-rank beasts were something they could barely handle even when working together.
Amon walked forward at an even pace, paying them no attention.
He headed directly toward the portal.
The surrounding hunters immediately recognized him. After all, he was currently one of the hottest topics in the Cold Moon District.
"The Butcher?"
"What’s he doing here?"
"Wait... he’s entering alone?"
Shock rippled through the crowd instantly.
Amon ignored their gazes and stepped into the dungeon, leaving behind a group of stupefied hunters.
"He really entered."
"Is he that confident in his strength?"
"Quick, send word to the Armed Forces and tell them to hurry. We might still get the bounty reward!"
Unaware of what was happening outside, the moment Amon entered the dungeon, the environment around him changed instantly.
Cold wind brushed against his face.
Glancing around, he found snow everywhere.
The dungeon was a frozen wasteland.
An endless blanket of white stretched across the ground while dead trees stood in silence beneath a dark, overcast sky.
Amon narrowed his eyes slightly.
Then...
Crunch.
Crunch.
Crunch.
The sound drifted through the snow and into his ears.
The next instant, dozens of icy wolves emerged from the surroundings.
Their fur resembled frozen crystals, and pale blue mist escaped continuously from their mouths.
Amon’s expression remained indifferent as he looked at them.
The moment they spotted him, the wolves lunged simultaneously.
Their movements were fast.
Very fast.
Speed was clearly their greatest strength.
But in Amon’s eyes...
’Too slow.’
Swish!
His blade flashed once.
Three wolves were split apart instantly.
Before their corpses even hit the ground, Amon had already appeared amidst another group.
Bang!
One wolf exploded into a cloud of blood from a single kick.
’Eclipse Funeral Sword Art.’
A pale-black sword light swept outward.
BOOOOM! freēwēbηovel.c૦m
More than fifteen wolves were torn apart violently.
Their blood splashed across the snow in bright crimson streaks, its lingering warmth melting the frozen surface beneath it.
The remaining beasts froze in fear.
Amon did not.
His figure blurred repeatedly across the battlefield like a phantom of death.
Everywhere he passed...
Corpses fell.
Minutes later, silence descended upon the dungeon.
The frozen wasteland had transformed into a field of mangled corpses and bloodstained snow.
Amon calmly flicked the blood from his blade.
Then...
Awooooo!
A terrifying howl shook the entire dungeon.
The snowstorm intensified instantly.
A massive figure slowly emerged from the distance.
It stood nearly five meters tall.
Its body resembled a gigantic white wolf covered in jagged icy spikes.
Most shocking of all...
It possessed two heads.
A peak D-rank beast.
The pressure radiating from it alone was enough to crush ordinary hunters.
The twin-headed wolf stared at Amon with murderous intent before suddenly opening both mouths.
BOOOOM!
Two massive beams of freezing energy erupted toward him.
However, Amon had already vanished.
The attacks slammed into the ground violently, freezing everything within hundreds of meters in an instant.
The beast’s eyes widened.
Its instincts screamed in warning.
But it was already too late.
Amon had appeared above it.
His cold gaze overlooked the monster from the sky.
’Unholy Death Sword Art.’
The atmosphere suddenly became deathly silent.
Even the falling snow seemed to freeze in midair.
Then Amon swung downward.
Swish.
A simple slash.
Yet the next instant...
BOOOOOOM!
The gigantic wolf split apart from the center.
Blood and organs erupted across the snowfield.
The attack did not stop there.
The slash continued forward for hundreds of meters, cleaving through the frozen earth itself.
The entire dungeon trembled violently.
Amon landed calmly on the snow as though he had done nothing at all.
The boss monster’s corpse quickly dissolved into countless particles of light.
A shimmering blue crystal remained behind.
The dungeon core.
Amon casually stored it inside his system space.
Then he turned toward the exit portal that had appeared and began walking out.
There was nothing left for him to do.
With the final person inside the dungeon gone, the unstable space rapidly collapsed and vanished.
The moment Amon walked out of the dungeon...
The surrounding hunters stared at him as though he were a monster.
The entire process had taken less than ten minutes.
Before anyone could even speak...
A loud commotion suddenly erupted nearby.
Several black vehicles screeched to a violent stop.
Bang!
The doors flew open, and a group of heavily armed hunters stepped out rapidly.
At the center stood a silver-haired young man dressed in a black combat uniform, a black spear resting firmly in his grasp.
The moment he saw Amon exiting the dungeon, the corners of his lips curved upward.
"So you’re the infamous Butcher."
The atmosphere instantly grew heavy.
The gazes directed at Amon by the Armed Forces were filled with open hostility.
Amon remained silent.
The young man’s smile widened slightly.
"I’ve been wanting to meet you."
"The government is quite interested in someone like you."
The tension in the air thickened.
Amon’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly.
Trouble had finally arrived.
