Chapter 15: The President

In Neverland, one of the largest states in Xing Country, a meeting was currently being held.

Suddenly, a knock echoed against the door, followed by a voice from outside.

"Levi, we just received an interesting piece of information..."

Levi, a slender middle-aged man with a dark beard and a long ponytail, glanced toward the door and the guard who had just arrived.

The guard exuded pressure at B-rank, yet he was merely one of the many soldiers stationed in Neverland. That alone was enough to display the nation’s might.

In the soldier’s hand was a tablet.

He waited for Levi’s permission to enter, his breathing shallow as he didn’t dare make a sound.

"Come in."

Levi finally gave the order, causing the guard to release a huge sigh of relief.

However, the pressure weighing on him didn’t lessen in the slightest.

There were ten people in the room.

And every single one radiated devastating A-rank pressure.

Combined, the ten were enough to clear an S-rank dungeon.

Cold sweat immediately broke out across the soldier’s back, but he forced himself to maintain his composure as he handed the tablet over.

On the screen was the image of a man with a neatly trimmed beard and a pair of dark sunglasses.

The moment Levi saw him, the casual expression on his face vanished instantly.

"Mr. President!"

In this world, power decided everything.

For this man to become the president of Neverland while possessing strength capable of rivaling all ten A-rank experts single-handedly, one could easily imagine how terrifying he truly was.

"Hey man... I’ve told you, you don’t have to be so respectful to me. Relax..." the president said with a teasing smile.

He acted nothing like the strongest man in Neverland.

"I can’t, Mr. President."

The others in the room wore serious expressions, as though they had been holding their breaths.

Even though the president was countless miles away, the terror he inspired made them subconsciously fearful.

The room remained tense as the president’s lighthearted voice continued to echo from the tablet.

"Have you heard of that guy? What’s his name... Butcher or whatever they’re calling him?"

"Mr. President," Levi said carefully, choosing every word with caution, "we’ve been closely monitoring Mira, Loop, and Tera. We haven’t had the opportunity to pay attention to events happening outside."

"Oh..." the president muttered with slight surprise. "Those three S-rank dungeons? You guys haven’t cleared them already?"

"Mr. President, we were trying to ensure there were no flaws in our analysis to avoid losing another member to unnecessary casualties."

"Yeah... yeah... I understand."

The president sounded as casual as ever.

"Back to what I was saying," he continued. "The Butcher’s a kid from the Cold Moon District."

Levi’s brows furrowed slightly.

The Cold Moon District?

He had never heard of such a place in his life.

Was it a mysterious organization?

A dungeon?

A hidden faction?

"Stop overthinking it. The Cold Moon District is just a very small state. I want you to get the kid to join Neverland."

"Really?" Levi looked slightly startled. "Mr. President, what’s so special about him?"

"Hmm?" the president muttered. "Oh, there’s nothing special. I’m sure a few weaker countries will try to kill him, so I just wanna spite them a little..."

Levi felt speechless. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

The president was far too fond of causing trouble.

Sometimes, he was genuinely surprised the man hadn’t been ganged up on already.

"Alright, Master. I will heed your advice and send one of the soldiers to get him."

Levi fell silent afterward, waiting to see if any further orders would come.

"That’ll be all for now. You guys should focus on clearing the dungeon. As for me, I’m busy with something right now. I’ll be back in a bit."

The call ended shortly afterward.

Silence settled over the room.

Levi stared at the dark screen, a faint light of contemplation flickering within his eyes.

From the side, Jay, a woman with light freckles and large brown eyes, finally spoke, unable to suppress her curiosity.

"Is that guy really as unimportant as the boss says he is?"

Levi glanced at her before slowly shaking his head.

"We can’t question the boss’s orders."

Changing the subject, he swept his gaze across the remaining nine people and spoke solemnly.

"Since this is a mission from the president, which of you will head to the Cold Moon District to retrieve him?"

The group fell silent.

Jay rolled her eyes and casually twisted her wrist.

A shard blade materialized in her hand.

She tossed it into the air before catching it again.

"I’m curious about what the leader finds so interesting about this guy. I’ll go."

After speaking, she rose to her feet.

"We’ll wait for your return before commencing the S-rank dungeon clearing mission," Levi said seriously.

"I’ll arrange the fastest jet available to get you there in the shortest time possible. Please give me a moment."

After finishing his words, he immediately dialed a number.

The others remained silent.

However, their curiosity toward the Butcher had already been thoroughly stirred.

...

It wasn’t just Neverland that had become curious about the Butcher.

Just as the president had stated, the forces of several middle-sized states that had set their sights on the mythical-ranked technique had already dispatched powerful individuals to eliminate him.

They were furious.

The Butcher had quietly erased an important piece from their chessboard.

Among those reacting to the situation was a particular organization.

The Demon Child Faction.

Following Davie’s death, they no longer dared to underestimate the Butcher.

Inside a dimly lit room, a lazy-looking woman let out a small yawn as she stared at the gathering before her.

Only three faces were familiar.

The other two had been sent to retrieve Amon’s daughter.

They never returned.

Beyond that, more than thirty D-rank hunters stood throughout the room.

Clearly, the Demon Child Faction intended to eliminate the Butcher in one decisive strike.

The woman sat lazily in her seat.

Her eyes drooped heavily, as though she might fall asleep at any moment.

Yet hidden deep within them was an indescribable glint.

She slowly swept her gaze across the group gathered around her.

"Helon sent you to kill the Butcher?" she asked.

"Yes, Mistress!"

The response came instantly.

Every face carried deep respect.

Even though the woman appeared so frail that a strong gust of wind might carry her away, none of them dared show the slightest hint of disrespect.

After all...

Rumor had it that this woman was one of the leaders of a palace within the Demon Child Faction.
