Chapter 92: Chapter 92
Kyra’s POV
The anonymous message had me thinking hard about the sender. Even before all this mess started, there was only one person who truly helped me during the critical moments in my life. She made me realize what was wrong. She silently cared. She secretly helped. I could only think of one person who would send me such a message.
While unpacking, I ordered some food for lunch. I waited for only 15 minutes before someone rang the doorbell. The man, wearing a delivery uniform and carrying the food I ordered, shocked me. I didn’t expect to see him again, and I could see he was just as shocked after recognizing me.
"M-Miss Kyra..."
I looked outside to check if anyone saw him. When I saw no one, I grabbed his arm and immediately locked the door behind him.
"Luke!"
He stared at my face for a long time. It was Luke, my father’s best warrior and the one who used to drive me around.
"Mommy, hungry!" Snow came running to me, hugging her doll.
Luke turned to her and his eyes widened in shock.
"Is this the food I ordered?" I asked, pointing at the paper bag he was carrying.
"Y-Yes, miss."
I nodded and grabbed the paper bag from him. "Wait here, I need to talk to you."
I carried Snow to the kitchen. I prepared her lunch and cupped her cheeks.
"Eat here, baby. I’ll just pay for our food, okay?"
When I went back to the living area, Luke was standing at attention—the posture of a warrior awaiting orders. When our eyes met, he immediately lowered his gaze in respect, a gesture that reminded me of my former status.
"You’re not working for the Raven Shadow Pack anymore?" I asked and sat on the couch.
He shook his head. "I remained loyal to your father’s pack after you left, Miss Kyra. When Alpha Darian passed, I couldn’t serve under Alpha Kieran’s command. My loyalty was always to your bloodline."
"Are you still in contact with the Andersons?"
He shook his head. "No, Miss Kyra. I cut all ties to protect myself. Alpha Nathan... he was relentless in his search for you. Anyone connected to either pack was questioned."
I sighed deeply and rested my back on the couch. "I’m hiding behind a fake identity, Luke. If you truly honor your oath to my father’s bloodline, you won’t tell anyone you saw me here."
He lifted his face and firmly looked into my eyes. "I swore my allegiance to the Monroe line before I could shift, Miss Kyra. Your father, Alpha Darian, trained me and made me a great warrior. Even if someone threatened me with a gun to my head, I would never betray you or your pup."
I smiled and slowly nodded. "Thank you, Luke."
He bowed his head and then glanced toward the kitchen where I brought Snow. He was curious.
I sighed again. "She’s my daughter."
He looked at me with parted lips. "She’s..."
I nodded. "Nathan’s daughter. His heir."
The significance of my words wasn’t lost on him. In our world, the pup of an Alpha carried tremendous importance.
He cleared his throat and nodded. "She has your features, Miss Kyra."
"I’m thankful she looks like me." The less connection to Nathan visible to the human eye, the safer we had been.
"Alpha Nathan was devastated after you disappeared. Before I left, I heard him tell his Beta that he’d never stop searching for you, though he suspected Alpha Kieran had something to do with the fire at his secret villa."
My forehead creased. "Fire?" freewebnσvel.cѳm
"You didn’t know? The place where you were staying... it burned to ashes the night you disappeared. Everyone assumed Alpha Kieran abducted you."
That made my blood run cold. So something happened after I left that house? Someone burned it down? Escaping that night was the right decision. If I hadn’t thought of leaving, we would’ve been burned helplessly inside that house.
I took a deep breath and met Luke’s eyes. "You said you’re loyal to my bloodline. If that’s true, I need your help."
He dropped to his knees before me and bowed his head, just like warriors do when they swear to serve their Alpha. "My life for yours and your pup’s, Miss Kyra. Command me."
I nodded again. "First... tell me everything you know, Luke. Don’t leave a single detail behind. I need to understand what I’m facing."
***
Luke didn’t disappoint me; he told me everything. Nathan searched the entire country for me, even going into Kieran’s territory many times. After my father died, Kieran took full control of the Raven Shadow Pack. His marriage to Emily made him stronger among the Rogues’ faction. During my time away, the power balance between all packs changed a lot.
Because of his proven loyalty, I asked him to guard Snow whenever I was at work. I couldn’t think of anyone better. He was a trained warrior who had served my father with his life and was always ready to protect me.
"We were hired to organize an auction event next week. This event will have a lot of rich people, so Miss Elle, I’m counting on you to treat these VIP guests well. They’re also our potential sponsors."
I nodded. "I will do my best, ma’am."
The auction could ruin all my plans. Running into Kieran or Nathan would change everything. But I couldn’t skip work opportunities now. I needed to get stronger and build up my resources.
I spent my time working, and my fears were confirmed. When I checked the list of VIP guests at the auction event, I saw Nathan’s and Kieran’s names prominently displayed.
"Sailor Luke!" I heard Snow’s excited call as soon as I entered the apartment.
When I reached the living area, I saw Snow and Luke playing on the carpet. Luke was lying down while Snow sat on his stomach, giggling as he made wave-like motions with his body.
Snow was wonderfully sociable with those I approved as safe. She was quick to laugh, eager to learn, and unmistakably smart. Her personality was just like Nathan’s. It made my heart hurt sometimes. She seemed quiet at first, but turned warm and gentle once she felt safe. This mix of traits made Snow so special.
"Captain Yuki, there’s a huge wave coming! What’s your command?" Luke asked with exaggerated seriousness.
I pressed my lips together, holding back laughter. Seeing this fierce warrior playing so gently with my daughter revealed a side of Luke I’d never witnessed back in my father’s pack.
My phone buzzed with a call. I checked who it was, then walked to the kitchen to answer. "Hello?"
"Miss Kyra, the papers you asked for are ready. I will email them to you right away, but I need to confirm something."
I chewed my bottom lip and nodded. "Yes, attorney. What is it?"
"You already know the current situation of your father’s assets, right? I’m curious about what you’re planning to do. To think that you disappeared without a trace and now you’re back... I’m worried rage is taking the best of you. Although this is the right thing to do, I can’t help but worry. I’ve been your father’s lawyer and I treat you like my own daughter. I don’t want you to end up like your father."
I pressed my palms on the kitchen counter and looked down. Taking a deep breath, I slowly lifted my face again, my eyes sharp and cold.
"I’m enraged, but I know what I’m doing, attorney. It’s time for me to take everything back. I don’t care if Dad’s assets have dropped to cents. All I want is to make them taste their own medicine."
I heard him sigh. There was relief in it. "Okay. I’ll email the documents to you. Just please, Kyra, win this battle. I kept my mouth shut for a long time, but my conscience couldn’t take it anymore. I don’t care what you do to your stepmother and stepbrother. All I want is justice for a dear friend of mine."
I looked at Luke and Snow still playing in the living area after I ended the call.
A few years ago, I thought I was alone. After losing Nathan, I felt I had no one. But I was wrong. Some people still stayed loyal to me and my bloodline. They weren’t many, but I knew they were true.
This time, I would take back my father’s wealth and pack.
