Chapter 170: Chapter 170
Kyra’s POV
I held my breath as I stepped into the Nightfall Pack house, anxiety tightening my chest. The tension dissolved instantly when Snow rushed toward me, throwing her little arms around my neck and planting a big kiss on my cheek.
"Mommy! I missed you so much!" she squealed as I lifted her up.
"I missed you too, baby girl," I whispered, inhaling her sweet scent.
Ever since Nathan found out Snow was his daughter, he made me take her to the witch to remove the magic that had been hiding and altering her scent. He wanted the entire pack to know Snow was his child.
Snow was coming home with me tonight—her request, not mine. She had called me yesterday using Nathan’s phone, her little voice full of longing that broke my heart.
Back at Emily’s condo earlier that day, Emily had sprawled across the couch, munching on an apple with a self-satisfied smirk. "Let his ass go crazy looking for me," she declared, clearly referring to Matt Foster.
I had been cooking dinner when she returned looking unusually pleased with herself. Whatever had happened obviously involved Kieran. News about his rogue faction being exposed had spread quickly, with several members already in custody.
Emily’s involvement seemed obvious, but I suspected there was more to it.
Kieran’s words at the fast food restaurant echoed in my mind—he needed to do something before surrendering to the Alpha Council. He was dismantling his own organization, targeting powerful people in the process.
Turning off the stove, I’d settled on the chair beside Emily’s couch and noticed an unread message on my phone. My heart nearly stopped when I saw Nathan’s name on the screen.
’I miss you...’
My pulse quickened, heat rising to my cheeks as Emily snatched the phone from my trembling hands. freewebnovёl.ƈom
"What is this behavior?" she asked with a raised eyebrow after reading it.
I couldn’t answer. Nathan and I weren’t exactly on speaking terms, so why would he send that? Was he drunk?
Emily scoffed, handing the phone back. "Stop daydreaming, Kyra. It’s not from your loverboy."
"What?" I accepted the phone, blinking in confusion until a new message appeared.
’I miss you, mommy...’
Heat rushed to my face as embarrassment flooded through me.
"Mommy, I messaged you using daddy’s cellphone."
My humiliation deepened as I spotted Nathan descending the stairs, Snow’s pink Barbie backpack looking comically small in his large hands. His presence filled the room, powerful and commanding. His slightly damp hair made him even more attractive.
"Mommy, why didn’t you reply to me?" Snow asked, her hands on my cheeks forcing my attention away from Nathan.
I smiled nervously at her. "Let’s go, Sweetheart. Do you want to stop at the park first?"
Her eyes lit up. "Yes! Daddy, come with us to the park!" freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
I glanced at Nathan, certain he would decline. To my surprise, he lifted Snow into his arms and smiled at her. "Of course, princess. Daddy would love to join princess at the park."
Snow clapped excitedly, looking at me. "Mommy?"
Their expectant gazes landed on me, and I nodded despite my reservations. Having Nathan around would make things awkward,I wouldn’t be able to act naturally knowing he was watching me.
"I’ll drive you," Nathan stated, his deep voice making me flinch.
"I brought my car," I countered.
"Give me the keys. I’ll drive it."
I frowned slightly. "What about later? When you’re going home?"
He shrugged. "I’ll have someone get my car or take a cab."
"Why don’t you sleep with us, daddy?" Snow interrupted.
We both turned to our daughter. She was still trying to pair us up, subtle as a sledgehammer.
Nathan smiled gently. "Daddy can’t stay tonight, princess. But soon, we’ll live in the same house."
Snow gasped. "Really? With mommy?"
He kissed her cheek without answering the question. Before leaving, I greeted Luna Marlene, who watched us with soft eyes.
"Take care, Kyra. I hope you’ll spend time with us soon."
I nodded politely. "I’ll keep that in mind."
She kissed my cheek before I followed Nathan and Snow to the garage. I was surprised when Nathan opened the passenger door for me instead of placing Snow there.
"Which park?" he asked as I fastened my seatbelt.
"The Greens," I replied.
Snow began singing from the backseat, and I couldn’t help joining in. We spent almost two hours at the park before sudden rain drove us to seek shelter. Emily’s condo was closer than Nathan’s place, so we headed there.
"Rain rain go away..." Snow sang sleepily until she drifted off. Nathan carried her to the bedroom and returned to the living area where I waited.
The rain continued pounding against the windows, showing no signs of stopping.
"I’m going," Nathan announced, turning toward the door.
I stood quickly. "Stay for tonight."
He stiffened, his back to me. I cleared my throat. "Emily won’t be home tonight. You can sleep with Snow, and I’ll take Emily’s room."
I expected refusal, but when he slowly turned to face me, my breath caught. His gaze darkened as he clenched his jaw.
The air between us crackled with tension as the rain continued its relentless assault outside.
"On second thought," he said, his voice dropping to a dangerous rumble, "I think I’ll stay. You have a lot of explaining to do, my ex-wife."
