Chapter 1065: Chapter 741: The Grand Finale [12] Nora Scott: Worrying Herself Sick Over Her Two Younger Brothers
The turmoil sparked by Annabelle Pinto online was forcibly subdued.
However, while no one was openly spreading it, in private, the rumor spread rapidly from one to ten, and ten to a hundred.
The most obvious impact of this matter was——
The tourists in Sand Delta increased exponentially.
And of those visiting Sand Delta, eight or nine out of ten would make a trip to Loulanel City for tourism, taking photos and subtly posting them online.
This phenomenon greatly boosted local tourism and economic benefits in the region.
But——
They all discovered, without fail, that the location of "Maze Village" had collectively disappeared from all navigation software. Without familiarity with the local terrain and the position of Maze Village, they couldn’t find it and had to leave disappointed.
[Whoa, what’s with all the fuss?]
[I’m getting more and more curious about Mechanism City. What kind of construction project is it?]
[I heard someone used a drone to get near Maze Village. Before they even saw the shadow, the drone was shot down, and the person was taken for questioning. If you’re thinking about going to Maze Village, just forget it, it’s impossible.]
[Joining in on this fuss is fine, but keep it in check. I feel like as long as you keep an eye on Nora Scott’s activities, you can catch all the gossip.]
[I heard someone has already disrupted the lives of Nora Scott’s friends and family. Can you guys restrain yourselves a bit? If they knew everything, would the country need to exert so much effort to block the news? Aren’t you being foolish? Not disturbing others’ lives is basic decency, okay?]
...
Online voices have gradually emerged rationally speaking up for Nora Scott.
Because the matter was significant, now even the haters didn’t know where to start and collectively remained silent.
After all, they couldn’t possibly attack the nation backing Nora Scott, right?
Even haters need to have some sense.
*
Before they knew it, June arrived.
As the weather got increasingly hotter, Nora Scott and Pedro Langley planned to move to the villa area to escape the heat after Marcus Shaw and Oliver Scott finished their high-stakes exams.
The temperature over there would be slightly cooler, and the environment better.
Moreover, there’s a very large study there.
The study in Cloudwater Haven isn’t small, but it feels a bit cramped for working on the blueprint of the "Mechanism City Entrance," so the villa’s study would be perfect.
With only two days left until the high-stakes exams, the school gave a holiday to allow the students to freely rest and prepare.
During a break between studying blueprints, Nora Scott took a menu with her to the kitchen door, eating an apple and chatting with Butler Loxley.
"Two dishes Oliver likes, two that Marcus likes, and one each for Pedro and I. Can you handle that?" Nora asked.
"I can manage." Butler Loxley nodded with a smile and glanced at her, "The smell of oil and smoke is strong here, could you stand a bit further away?"
"It’s fine," Nora replied casually.
Butler Loxley chuckled and asked, "Have the two young masters decided on their aspirations yet?"
Nora thought for a moment, "Oliver is interested in the direction of electrical engineering. Marcus is still unsure."
In her view, Marcus is like a taciturn Humphrey, never speaking of anything uncertain until he’s sure.
She had asked Marcus about this before. Marcus didn’t answer, and she hadn’t asked again.
"Isn’t Master Shaw good at computers?" Butler Loxley inquired.
"Yes."
"Do you think he wants to develop in that direction?"
"No."
Nora shook her head lightly.
"Why?"
Pursing her lips, Nora said, "I don’t know."
Strangely, she just believed Marcus wasn’t the kind of person who would "maximize strengths and avoid weaknesses." Moreover, even though Marcus likes games, he doesn’t have an unusual obsession with them like Miguel Smith does. For Marcus, games are just a form of personal entertainment.
In a way, she’s more like Marcus.
"Master Shaw is similar to you in many respects," Butler Loxley said with a charming smile.
"..."
Nora shrugged, noncommittal.
Pausing slightly, she spoke, "By the way."
"Yes?"
"Should I drive them on the day of the high-stakes exams?" Nora furrowed her brow, saying, "I’ve heard that parents today really value their kids’ exams, no matter what, they all want to send their kids to the exams."
Butler Loxley pondered, "What about Sir Scott?"
"He wants to send him, but Oliver said no."
This was understandable.
Although the relationship between Oliver Scott and Ernesto Woods had improved, it wasn’t very close. If Ernesto Woods insisted on sending Oliver, Ernesto would find it awkward, and so would Oliver.
Moreover——
Given Oliver’s meticulous nature, he’d certainly consider Marcus Shaw.
He has a father to drive him.
Marcus doesn’t.
The only thing they could accept might be Nora taking them.
But, when she casually mentioned this to Fátima in her study that afternoon, Fátima gave her a look of disbelief and asked, "You almost missed your own high-stakes exam, how can you confidently drive them?"
——She and Fátima took the high-stakes exam the same year, although not at the same school, but in the same exam center.
——They originally agreed to meet at the school gate before entering the exam center, but after waiting for a long time, Fátima almost thought something happened to her on the way, and sent someone to her place, only to see Nora arriving just in time, having overslept.
——Had it not been for the exam about to start, Fátima wouldn’t have let her off easily.
Nora wasn’t exactly a model student before and feared bringing bad luck to Marcus and Oliver.
"Then you should drive them. After all, it’s an important life event, and whatever other students have, the two young masters shouldn’t miss out on," Butler Loxley paused, offering her advice, "If you have other concerns, you could bring Master Pedro along. His thoughts are always more comprehensive."
"Alright."
Nora thought it through, nodded in agreement, and internally breathed a sigh of relief.
After finishing her apple, she threw the core into the trash and went into the kitchen to wash her hands.
When she returned to the living room, she saw Marcus Shaw there.
But, only Marcus.
"Where’s Oliver?" Nora asked.
Marcus put down his backpack and replied, "Taken by Alma Ferreira."
