Chapter 634: Chapter 634: Mysterious Person

Chloe Reed looked at him. His eyes were wrapped in white gauze, his face gaunt and pale, but his thin lips curved into a smile that was both stunningly handsome and devastatingly charming. She immediately looked away, her gaze dropping to continue exploring the feature on her phone.

The hospital room fell silent, the quiet punctuated only by the sound of Chloe Reed tapping on her phone screen.

Before long, Dylan Finch returned and began to report on the current situation.

Chloe Reed put down her phone, listening intently.

Dylan Finch’s expression was grave as he said, "We’ve searched the area and found no suspicious individuals. We also investigated the bodies found in the jungle near the town. They all belong to a group of mercenaries with no traceable identities or backgrounds. However, we haven’t been able to identify the man who saved Mrs. Grant."

He paused, a flicker of confusion crossing his face. "Based on our findings, he was part of their group, but his actions were contradictory. I’m not sure which faction he belongs to."

"Mm."

Walker Grant listened to Dylan Finch’s report and responded with a quiet hum before saying, "Be thorough with your search. Make sure the area is secure."

"Yes, sir." Dylan Finch nodded, then added, "As for the corporation, everything is running according to plan and remains stable. At Jardinelle, the old madam and the young master are doing well. Mr. Grant, Mrs. Grant, you can both rest easy."

As he said this, Dylan Finch looked at Chloe Reed.

Chloe Reed gave him a slight smile and a nod.

"Chloe."

Just then, however, Walker Grant turned to face her and called her name.

A moment later, an electronic female voice spoke, "What is it?"

The voice was completely devoid of emotion. Walker Grant frowned, completely unused to such a sound and tone.

Dylan Finch, on the other hand, looked at Chloe Reed in surprise. He hadn’t expected her to find a way to speak for herself so quickly.

"Pack your things and bring them over. We’ll stay in the same room."

Chloe Reed began tapping rapidly on her screen. "No. I’m staying in my original room. It’s quieter."

A note of desolation crept into Walker Grant’s voice. "But I need someone to look after me at night."

Chloe Reed typed again, and the mechanical female voice replied ruthlessly, "Dylan Finch can stay and look after you."

Dylan Finch: "Uh... Mrs. Grant, I have other matters to attend to. I’m afraid I can’t stay the night."

Chloe Reed’s delicate brows knitted together. She began typing again, her fingers flying across the screen. "Then hire a caregiver."

Walker Grant said, "I don’t like strangers touching me. Chloe, please, just look after me for a couple of days, won’t you? Once I’m out of the hospital, I’ll learn to take care of myself."

Chloe Reed: "..."

’He sounded so... pitiful.’

Her tapping fingers paused.

The hospital room fell silent once more.

Dylan Finch watched the scene unfold, inwardly shocked.

’Was Mr. Grant... acting pitiful?’

’This... were his eyes playing tricks on him? Was he hallucinating?’

Dylan Finch struggled to maintain his composure, determined to remain the serious, professional executive assistant he was.

After a moment, Chloe Reed began typing again. The mechanical female voice broke the silence of the hospital room, "I’ll find a male caregiver for you. I’m not feeling well myself, so I can’t look after you."

With that, as if not wanting to hear him drone on any longer, she stood up and walked straight out of the hospital room.

Seeing this, Dylan Finch couldn’t suppress a light cough. "Ahem... Mr. Grant, she’s gone."
