Chapter 602: Chapter 602: A Strange Unease
The nearby park staff were talking about a starry sky concert tonight, with a drone performance, but it wouldn’t start until around seven or eight in the evening.
The temperature in the desert would be very low by then, so you’d need to wear warmer clothes.
"Are you going to come see the starry sky concert tonight?"
The girl in sunglasses who had tried to chat her up earlier walked over again, a slight smile on her lips as she looked at her quizzically.
Chloe Reed shook her head. "No, I’m leaving now."
"Leaving now? That’s no fun." The sunglasses girl’s tone held a hint of disappointment. "You haven’t seen anything yet, and you’re just leaving like this? Don’t you think that’s a shame?"
Chloe Reed’s fine brows furrowed slightly. She felt this girl had a complete lack of boundaries.
’Have I not been distant enough?’
She stood up and started walking toward the exit. "You can watch it. I’m leaving."
The girl in sunglasses stared at her back. "Really not going to watch?"
For some reason, Chloe Reed was struck by a strange feeling, and she instinctively glanced back at the girl in sunglasses.
But she saw that the girl had already turned around and was asking the park staff about the detailed schedule.
The sun continued to sink in the west as the wind raged across the desert, the blowing sand blurring her vision.
There were many tourists around, but she inexplicably felt a grim chill.
A flicker of unease went through Chloe Reed. She suddenly recalled the feeling of being watched by a cold, sinister gaze at the market last night.
The feeling now was very similar to last night’s.
’It wasn’t an illusion.’

Chloe Reed looked away and left the park without another moment’s delay. She got in her car and drove back to the B&B.
Her heart was knotted with tension the entire way.
When she returned to the B&B and saw the owner’s smiling face at the front desk, the feeling of being surrounded by damp, cold creatures finally dissipated a little.
"You’re back so soon? There’s a drone show tonight, aren’t you going to watch?" the owner greeted her with a chuckle.
Chloe Reed shook her head. "No, I’m not watching. I’m a bit tired, so I’m going to get some rest. I’ll figure out my plans for tomorrow later."
The owner nodded, then said, "Oh, by the way, the man who came with you seems really sick. He hasn’t left his room at all, and a doctor even came by. What happened to him?"
Hearing this, Chloe Reed’s limpid eyes flickered for a moment. She said, "He’s not used to the local climate and caught a cold. It’s nothing serious."
The owner nodded. "Oh, I see. Well, tell him to get some extra vitamins. A big guy like that, getting knocked down by an illness just like that. Tsk tsk..."
Chloe Reed started up the stairs. As she passed Walker Grant’s room, she heard coughing from inside.
She stood there, hesitating for a moment, before reaching out and knocking on the door.
A moment later, the door opened. Walker Grant stood in the doorway, wearing a black shirt. His handsome face was pale, and he braced himself against the wall with one hand. His almond-shaped eyes, tinged with a sickly weakness, were fixed on her. "Did you have fun?"
Chloe Reed’s fine brows knitted together. "Why do you look so terrible?"
Walker Grant coughed twice and said, "I feel awful, Chloe..."
Chloe Reed asked, "The owner said you called a doctor. What did the doctor say?"
Walker Grant coughed a few more times, ignoring her question. Instead, he asked, "Chloe, are you worried about me?"
Chloe Reed: "..."
’He looks like he’s on death’s door, and this is what he’s worried about right now?’
