Chapter 28: 28: A Stroll, Or Not...

After taking her beauty bath, Ayra made preparations to find a way out of this tribe.

She made her way to the house she slept in the previous night—Commander Lynn’s house. She didn’t see him yesterday. Ayra heard he had been on patrol all night or something.

But Ayra didn’t care, did she? It wasn’t like caring about him would secure her safety here. She had to act fast. She had to leave.

And so she made efforts to ignore the lingering eyes on her. She couldn’t read what those eyes meant. Were they disgusted or shocked? She learned soon it was the latter.

"Is that the F-rank female?!"

"Why is her skin suddenly glowing?"

"I guess I’m not the only one seeing it as well. Why does she suddenly look.. better to the eyes?" These men were already stopping to admire the little changes in her.

Ayra scoffed. She could tell that when she hit her major beauty improvement, they’d be doing more than admiring.

She flaunted her face while running her hand through her brown hair. They admired her more and she was loving the attention. Warriors who were supposed to be training had suddenly stopped, all gazing at her as she walked past. Teenagers who were playing some weaponry games had suddenly began staring at her in confusion, losing their games.

Ayra casually smiled.

".. I also heard she’s pregnant with the tribe leader’s cub?" Ayra heard one say. She guessed the rumor had gone far.

"Which tribe leader?" Another asked.

"All three! That female is carrying all their cubs in her!"

"..."

Ayra paused, speechless. She almost laughed. Rumors, they say, really come with filters.

While they had looked away, Ayra was making her way to sneak out through a corner of the bush. Perhaps she could find her way if she called through this route. freewebnovel.cσ๓

"I wonder what the weak female is doing all alone here?"

Ayra paused. She recognized that voice. She slowly turned to meet Vale’s eyes. Silver and almost lifeless. It aligned perfectly with the tattoo mark on his forehead.

She forced a smile. "Oh, hello?"

He stared at her. "Going anywhere fun?"

"No. I don’t even know anywhere.. I’m just strolling around."

"..." Vale stared for a while. "I see. Then you wouldn’t mind coming with me then."

"..." Ayra stiffened. She didn’t like the sound of that.

Vale had both hands behind him as he stared around. "I’m going around for a stroll. Care to join me?"

She blinked. She didn’t like the idea of it. For someone like Vale, she could tell this was a trap. So she certainly wasn’t going to fall into it!

[Ding!]

[Mate Stat]

[Silver Snake Affection Level: 0%]

[New Task available!]

[Host, Improve Lord Vale’s Affection to at least 5%!]

[Reward: Face Cream and Hair Gel!]

Ayra blinked almost with a scoff. You’ve got to be kidding me?? She thought. She couldn’t believe the system was pushing her right into this snake’s trap.

"So? What do you say? I figured the female’s soothing capabilities could come in handy for me in case I suddenly go berserk."

Ayra stared at him. She wanted to refuse the task. She could find another task with another mate, wouldn’t she?! freewebnovel.cσ๓

[Punishment If failed: Host’s beauty stats go down to 10%]

She gasped. What an evil system! She thought as she stared at the snake who was waiting for an answer. Ayra smiled. "Sure.. let’s go. Why not?"

---

The two of them were walking side by side through the empty paths in the woods. They kept moving and moving in the lonely part of the forest that Ayra felt like she had made a grave mistake. She felt like a sacrificial lamb about to get used.

"Are we really taking a stroll?" Her eyes ran through the strange looking trees and little animals running from bush to bush. "We’ve been walking for hours now?" She was scared, but Vale walked so casually as though here was his home or something.

"A stroll? No. We’re going to save some of our men from a contaminated zone."

"...!" Ayra felt like gasping. "What?! That wasn’t what you told me though!"

He didn’t stare at her as he said, "Oh, is that so?" He stared at her. "Sorry then. But what’s the difference?"

The difference would be that she was potentially walking into her death! Ayra held her mouth as she stared at him.

But this was fairly a normal thing in this tribe. Based on her memories from the original host, Ayra recalled that a lot of monsters always surrounded this tribe. The monsters were threats to the whole beast tribe. But they were closer to the Netherwild tribe which made it a dangerous place to be.

They always encountered wild monsters and always fought them to survive while also navigating the unfriendly land. Situations of men getting kidnapped by monsters like this wasn’t so strange. So Ayra really pitied her stay here.

"But why didn’t we bring some men at least?" Ayra looked around. Some protection would be nice.

"Our men have already been endangered there. Why would I bring more to join in the risk?" He asked.

Ayra blinked. "Wait, so I’m the one worth being thrown into danger???"

He stared at her. "You said you were a unique female now, isn’t it? So you should be helpful." He said as he continued moving.

"..." She didn’t know if that was a good thing now. But she still had a feeling that this snake was plotting something!

"But.... Weren’t you all ruthless? If they’ve been missing for days, couldn’t you possibly just forget them or something?" She asked.

"And why would I? That would be irresponsible of me as someone in charge," he scoffed.

Ayra guessed he was in charge of security and warfare or something. Given his nerdy looks, a strategist like him was possibly dangerous and suitable for the role.

But Ayra was impressed at how he was actually going to save them and not abandoning them like she thought these wild beastmen would do. She smiled.

"What? Why are you smiling? I know a ruthless female like you wouldn’t understand what loyalty means. You’d probably leave them to die," he said as he continued moving.

Ayra blinked. "Hey.. I’m not evil..." She followed behind him in a hurry. "You can’t just accuse me like.."

"Shhhh," Vale said as she went mute. "We’re here."

Ayra stiffened as she looked ahead at the frightening sight of the cave before them.
